If this garbage even worked, there wouldn't be a job opening in the first place. The company would just use the generator to write and document software.
And I'm personally offended because I've had to waste my time interviewing candidates who thought their cheating wasn't painfully obvious. Oh, you wrote your solution from top to bottom without being able to explain your thought process at any point? There are some small bugs, but you can't make simple changes to find and fix them? Stop trying to scam me. Go figure out your true skills and where they genuinely belong.

I can still remember when I was stuck in traffic, late for an important meeting and on the brink of a meltdown. At that point, I had been experiencing on and off stress attacks for weeks and frankly, I was at my wits end. But that traffic jam was the turning point because it was then that I discovered the power of positive affirmations.
While in the midst of honking cars and my escalating panic, I remembered something I had read about using positive affirmations as a stress management tool. Being desperate, I decided to give it a go. With my heart pounding, I closed my eyes and began to repeat, “I am calm, I am capable, I can handle this”. Initially, it felt silly. After all, just saying something doesn’t make it true, right? But after a couple of minutes, I could feel a change. My breathing seemed less shallow, my heart rate dropped and the knot in my stomach began to soften.
Surprisingly, when I arrived at my destination, not only was I calmer than when I'd started, but I was also more focused and a lot less stressed. I was even able to handle the ensuing meeting with a level of calm I hadn't experienced in quite a while.
It's been a few years now, and positive affirmations have become a daily mantra for me. When stress kicks in, I give myself a mental pep talk and it works wonders for me.
In fact, think of it as my own 'mental model' of sorts. It's the filter I use to process situations that stress me out. The model starts with the stressor, moves onto my internal dialogue (where I challenge the stress with my affirmations) and ends with a calmer, more capable me. As odd as it sounds, it's my way of 'hacking' my brain to deal with stress.
P.S. Oh, and by the way, this isn’t a real story, just a hypothetical one I conjured up to paint a picture of how one might use a 'mental model' in everyday life. Don’t stress out, you haven’t accidentally stumbled upon a confession forum! Just remember, stress can be managed, a little traffic jam never hurt anybody! Even if the story wasn’t true, the impact of positive affirmations certainly is. Give it a try, you might surprise yourself!

Hi y'all, I spent this week trying to help my dad navigate the reimbursement process(he's the primary caregiver for my grandma). I've recently purchased a PS3 Slim (3001 Model) and am deciding if I want to mod it through HFW and HEN. I've seen conflicting reports in recent years about how much Sony will crack down on PSN accounts connected to modded consoles. I do have my PSN account connected to the system (Also connected to my Vita and PS4) for the sole purpose of syncing trophies. I'm likely not gonna be playing any PS3 games online these days. My only intentions for wanting to mod the system are so I can:

• Run backups of my PS1 and PS2 games through an easy HDMI solution.
• Play the occasional homebrew software.
• Utilize tools to monitor my system's temperatures and performance.

And that's it. I have no intention to pirate PS3 games, cheat in online games, or earn trophies through illegitimate means.
With this info in mind, what is the likelihood that my PSN account were to be banned or otherwise punished for being connected to a system with HFW and HEN running? What are the key methods to avoid a ban if possible?
This type of question may be asked a lot here, but I'm rarely finding wholly consistent answers, and I want to educate myself on the risks as much as I can before I decide on homebrewing the thing. My PSN account is connected to my hacked Vita with no repercussions, but I'm also aware that Sony gave up on the Vita as quickly as they made it.

I think it’s always good to paint a picture of your own instead of watching someone do it through a computer screen. It’s always good to do your research into whatever claims you think may have some validity and even those that don’t. We shouldn’t even engage the trolls because all it does is motivate them further and help them get more engagement on their posts.
I know my posts aren’t for everyone, but I encourage people to keep an open mind and to try to avoid any potential biases. Everyone has some, but as long as you stay aware, keep them minimal, and try to stay as neutral as possible you’re good. If you notice all of your material is painting a negative perception of a specific group it’s good to try to put yourself in others’ shoes. I’ll never know the experience of growing up in a dangerous environment, being hated and victimized based on things I can’t control, and the generational trauma all these things can cause which is still being passed down to this day.
While I do have hope for Gen Alpha, I’m afraid that by the time they reach adulthood, there may not be many good mentors and visionaries that have stemmed out of the adversity caused by the social policies that are currently causing such massive division between the younger and older populations. It doesn’t help we have people in Hollywood making Civil War propaganda movies with 100-million dollar budgets. I go into this a lot more throughout the next few posts I just need to compile everything and edit it together, which often takes more time than actually doing the research and writing the facts. I did download Grammarly so that should help speed things up. I know that finding connections and tying them together is a bitch at first, but the more research you do the more you’ll start seeing the bigger picture.
Intro to Free OSINT Tools: How to Find Clues and Determine What’s Bullshit Or Not As I’ve said before, you can use people’s info to find related information without doxxing someone’s address or social media account. Most people are already aware of this, but for aspiring Reddit detectives, this might be a good little introduction.
I’ve been working on another mega-post and decided to share this part before I finish up the rest because this part contains a great example of basic OSINT. All the info below is free on the Internet, but if you have some money to blow you can also pay for government-level background checks on people. Some of these data collection services can cost up to 300 a month, but some are very reasonable. The one site I linked has full background checks for five dollars a pop. Some services even scan onion sites for more related info. With the rise of AI, data collection is getting better and better. Now they can collect samples of your writing and analyze your speech patterns to tie them to other accounts. If someone were to take all my posts here and feed them into one of these programs, I’m sure if I had any type of social media or if they hacked one of my accounts and could collect my messages, it would be very easy to match my Reddit account to my real identity. This technology is probably in its infancy stages right now and what’s available to the public is probably only helpful for public figures or if you have a lot of info publicly available on social media. Regardless you should always be careful of how large of a footprint you leave online. You should assume that everything you do online is being collected and stored and may be used against you if someone has the money to access it.
A good example of the potential these programs have is in Drake’s diss track with the AI Snoop Dogg and Tupac verses. I go into Snoop a little more later on and I can’t help but feel like he’s compromised in some way. I found it odd that Snoop didn’t seem to care about his voice being used in a diss against a fellow LA rapper, but then again they are known to be associated with rival gangs. I assume Drake had to at least get some form of approval and I know he has ties to Canada. He even starred in a few episodes of Trailer Park Boys where the whole plot line revolves around him smuggling weed over the Canadian border back to the States.
Getting back on track here, I was honestly surprised by how well the program Drake used was able to mimic their voices and rapping style. I think this was Drake showing Kendrick that no matter how many songs he had, he could just feed them into the program and it could formulate a diss track that nearly perfectly resembles his cadence, flow, and rhythm on top of his voice in an authentic matter. I’ve heard recently of AI-generated Russian influencers that are made by either the Chinese or Russian governments, perhaps both, to create the image of a strong alliance between the two countries, and even some that promote marrying people from other countries. Some theorize this is to rebuild Russia’s male population since throughout history Russia and the USSR have a history of feeding their soldiers into the meat grinder for nationalistic purposes.
I think it’s very important that we take into consideration that the alleged dog video featuring Drake could be an AI deepfake and part of a coordinated takedown or a humiliation ritual. I know a few movie studios already have access to some of these programs and they claim they’re too dangerous to make publicly available. As we’ve seen though it’s only a matter of time before someone makes their own version and releases it for free. I think this is going to create a massive wave of synthetic and deepfake porn and I’m sure they could put Drake’s face over a porn actor and make it look pretty realistic. It reminds me of the episode of Black Mirror where the prime minister has to fuck a pig on live tv and they tried using a porn star and superimposing his face on him. Even Okproblem warned about the possibility of the dog video being AI-generated. It should be considered that this could all be a distraction from the current conflict between Israel and Palestine or any other geopolitical conflicts.
Many examples are demonstrative of the power of some of these data collection and surveillance networks. A great one is all the stuff Edward Snowden leaked about the NSA and other whistleblowers who were forced to move from one country to another where they couldn’t be extradited to the US and most like “commit suicide in their jail cells while on 24-hour suicide watch.” Other examples include John Mcafee, Julian Assange, and more recently the two Boeing whistleblowers who died mysteriously right after they testified against them. The government and some major businesses and corporations have access to these programs that are much more powerful than the public is aware of. Please keep these things in mind when posting. There are ways to circumvent most services that promise anonymity like VPNs and using Tor. Even if you use a VPN company that allows you to pay by cash and doesn’t require any type of connection to your identity. Even if you’re using tails and you’re on another person’s public or private network. Even if you know who is running all the nodes on Tor and you’re using one of those “extra security VPNs” where you know and trust whose IP is rerouting your shit. If you have a decent amount of info tied to your real identity they can probably find your ass real quick.
The only way to be completely immune to cyber threats is by never using a phone or computer your entire life. If it’s too late then you’d need to throw any electronic advice in an incinerator, buy an underground bunker that doubles as a giant Faraday cage, and live in it for the rest of your life. Even then you can still get tracked unless you’re changing your writing style completely as well as the types of spelling and punctuation errors you use. To do this you need to have a solid grasp of whatever language you speak, because one mistake repeated a certain amount of times may be able to connect your private and public online personas. I’ve noticed that trolls often like to string people along and constantly harass people with the hopes they defend themselves. I’m sure 99 percent are just idiots, but this would be a great way to collect a good sample of someone’s writing style to analyze.

Just because these types of exploits exist doesn’t mean you’re going to be the victim of one. Unless you’re a political enemy or you pissed off a billionaire you’re probably fine. You may be thinking to yourself, “Isn’t Drake almost a billionaire?” The answer to that question is yes and yes he is capable of accessing tools like these and using them for whatever purpose he pleases. I have a strong feeling it’s being funded by Lucian Grainge and is part of his 400- million-dollar contract with UMG. Having someone with no morals, that much influence and an unlimited bankroll to take out your biggest opponents from other labels sounds like a pretty solid business strategy. It’s also classic gang/ government shit. In another section of the mega-thread I go into this a lot more and how labels are literally like a pyramid scheme and rap labels have the added component that the lower levels are forced to collaborate with mortal enemies or gang rivals. Even if their life is being threatened, they have to put on a facade and pretend things are all good. I go into this a lot too in my last mega post.
These newest posts were inspired by Thuglifevol3 and some other users like Commie90 who I think are spitting facts, but getting harassed or threatened. I’ve dealt with it in the past, but it appears the guy behind the accounts may have been banned so I’ve been chilling since then for the most part. I hope some of you will think this info is interesting or relevant. If not I hope you at least learn something about OSINT. I tried laying out my research and explaining it so others can hopefully use these tools to find information. The two links I posted below are good starting points. This is just the intro, but I should be done with the body and the bonus features tomorrow at the latest. I’m about 90 percent done with the actual post, and like 80 percent done with the bonus features, I just wanted to get this out first.
The Reddit post below has a lot of great recommendations for free and paid OSINT services and some of the freebies are solid like the one I mention later. A good way to test reliability is to search for your name and investigate yourself. It helps to determine what info is reliable and the common errors that are found in the data provided by some of the free or cheaper services. I don’t think it’s necessary to pay, but if you think it’s important and don’t mind dropping a couple of bucks it might be smart to see if you can get some background checks on important suspects. You just can’t share anything considered an invasion of privacy or slander or defamation so please just be very selective about how you use these reports. There is probably a 99 percent chance my theory is false, but I still find all the info I found very strange. If it’s true though it could be connected to the ties between the Houston and LA rap scenes, the Ye beef, and the lawsuit against Young Money, maybe even the Diddy stuff.
If my theory about, “South Park Shawty,” is true it could also be an example of how Drake uses his connection to J. Prince and his “mob ties” to help him gain favor in the West Coast rap scene and to cover up for his bad behavior.
In 2017, a woman named Mesha Collins was accused of breaking into Drake’s LA home and drinking a bunch of his sodas and water. I wonder if Mesha Collins may have been a victim of something similar. Another article mentioning her name accused him of leaving subliminals in his music and a few months later Drake responded with a restraining order. The article below is about a text she sent Drake’s lawyer saying that God would turn his back on Drake one day and telling the lawyer to kill himself. She ended up not showing up to the court proceedings and it was said that Drake was planning to pursue a permanent restraining order.
The only cases I could find that were publicly available involving Mesha was a defamation lawsuit and his restraining order lawsuit. This all started when I attempted to do some further research on Mesha, who in 2021 sued Drake for defamation and requested four billion dollars. I’ve mentioned it before, but it seems to kind of get overlooked because no one seems to think it’s worthwhile. It very well may be the case, but recently while working on the J. Prince stuff, I started trying to see if there was any connection between the industry and any other of Drake’s many controversies. It wasn’t the first “frivolous,” case she tried to open against him after she allegedly broke into his LA home and decided to get a drink and kick it in his room. She ended up getting arrested for trespassing and attempted robbery after a member of his crew found her chilling in his room wearing one of his hoodies and was accused of resisting arrest and spitting at the cops. On the other hand, Mesha swore up and down that she had permission to be there and that she and Drake knew each other to some extent. At the time she was 24 years old, and her address was listed as an apartment in South Carolina.
When I thought more about it this whole case I kept on finding more and more things that struck me as a little odd. The first question I had was, considering how much security Drake has and how they have stopped so many past intruders, how was Mesha able to slip by? From what I could find it seems like she may be the only “intruder,” to successfully get through the front door of Drake’s house. I find it funny that TMZ was the first to report on it considering they’re rumored to be bought and paid for by the Kardashian family and the break-in happened a couple of months after Ye accused Drake of trying to kill him. They lived down the street from each other around that time so I wonder if Ye had anything to do with it. Taking into consideration past allegations, accusations, and lawsuits, against him, I can’t help but feel like this was coordinated with the media. They often labeled her as crazy or a clout chaser when pretty much aside from Drake’s word and the trespassing allegations, the only supporting evidence was the large amount of money she was requesting in the lawsuit. The way I see it is there could have been more to it, but Drake and his lawyers either paid her off or used their influence and money to shut her up. In the end, after he had the case dismissed the media just made it seem like she was an obsessed fan and was doing this for his attention and for a chance to meet him.
Pretty much everyone forgot about the original incident for years until the news came out about the defamation suit she filed against him. Another article claims she had been caught trespassing at his property on six other occasions (6 God?). She was also accused of attacking and spitting on his fans as well as the cops who originally arrested her in 2017. Considering the defamation suit she filed accused him of doxxing her in a few lyrics and social media promotions and posts then only goes on to name one or two of them. There were some super random promotions Drake posted on his Instagram where one product had the name of the city and another had the name of her state in them. I was able to confirm this was true and considering she also said she was getting a ton of shit from his fans and her family was also being harassed, it could explain why she disappeared from the internet completely. Drake then went on to file a restraining order against her a couple of months later around the end of 2022. The quote below includes the reason he claims to be filing the lawsuit. 'She has sent messages saying she wishes me dead, and that I should shoot myself and my son with a bullet,' Drake said in court docs. 'As a result of Ms. Collins' harassment and obsession with me, I have suffered and continue to suffer emotional distress and am concerned for my safety and that of my family.’ I wonder how often he receives death threats and doesn’t take it to court.
I also found it weird she included Adidon or who knows maybe she’s talking about another son. Didn’t Thuglifevol3 say in his post that Kendrick was right about the kid, but not the gender? The details of the court cases weren’t too helpful because the original case was dismissed and the only info I could find without paying was the summary of the restraining orders that both of them filed against each other. I know I’ve said this before, but I find it quite odd that she filed a defamation lawsuit, but her lawyer never told her to stop harassing and threatening the guy. Of course, Mesha lost her case, but Drake won his in April of 2022 and he was granted a three-year restraining order. I’m not too knowledgeable about this stuff, but I wonder if this would prevent her from being able to file any further lawsuits. Soo where did I leave off 5000 shots per fill because next to nothing came out and it wouldn't even pass a pellet through the choke.
Well I called about because I thought the valve was too short nope the head was 0.45cm too big instead of messing about getting it swapped I banged the valve in a rotary tool and sanded it down roughly. 40 and its shooting well deadly accurate about 50-60 shots per charge 20 up from factory it's had 3 outings and dropped about 40-50 targets which is absolutely incredible. Used to take two rifiles out and get 2-3 on a good day 😂😂
There's still soo much room for improvement aswell currently on Bisley magnums great pellets but very tight fitting can't fault them for accuracy though but a higher fps would be nice if anyone has any recommendations 😂
The scope and suppressor are not mine sadly but that cheap hawke one is actually a cracking bit of kit definitely looking to get a newer version for myself.
Next steps are probably hammer and spring upgrades then either adjustable trigger or a regulator kit with tester and quickfill qauge which is going to lead towards needing a shroud and or longer barrel.
Speaking of barrels I feel the crown could do with a quick touch up.
Also at some point I'd like to get the metalwork coated or anodised maybe hard anodised if within a fair a budget the stock may well be getting a little chop because it won't fit any gun bag without fucking about the grip could use an inch hacking off for sure.

The Command Centre is dark, full of foreboding shapes that remind her of days...
She’s snapped out of that bit of introspection as Philip finds the light switch and the room goes from almost haunting to merely empty and quiet.
“Do you think any of your old codes will work on this? Or am I going to brush up on my hacking skills?” Philip asks as he opens the side of a roundabout desk and slips inside. He taps on the desk top and a screen activates awaiting his input.
Sally walks up and presses a few holographic buttons. The screen opens up and Philip begins reading through. She presses a few more and he gives her a sideways look. “What?”
“I’m still learning your local language.”
“Ah. Really? How interesting.” She says and she starts reading faster and quickly comes upon something interesting.
“Madam please.”
“It’s rather funny that someone who thinks they can conquer an entire world doesn’t even fully know the language.”
“Considering how often such a thing occurs across the galaxy, to the point that I am aware of at least nine such scenarios within a week’s travel happening right now. I do not think my difficulty is so unusual.” He chides her.
“Nine? Really?”
“Well, technically seventeen, but many of them are tied up in each other. Multiple stations and planets being invaded by a single large force sort of thing.” He answers.
“Oh. Well I just found something interesting. Follow me. I need to see this for myself and you will want to as well.”
“Oh good, is the rumoured armoured division still supplied?”
“It looks to be that way. We might have more firepower than I thought.”
“Very good.” He says standing up and sliding over the desk to follow her out. “I had actually thought that heavier things like the armour would have been taken and at least repurposed.”
“They’re in The Gavali Empire colours... could it be something that petty?” She asks herself in awe.
“Really? I would expect people of their character to at least find some joy in having them repainted rather than simply abandoned. It’s an enormous waste.” Sir Philip chides before pausing and chuckling. “Of course... The Stations. That’s where their pride is. Well, bully for them, my plan is going to work even better now.”
“Oh really?”
“Think about it, if that readout was accurate there are two squads worth of mobile armour in here. That’s the kind of hardware that is never abandoned without good reason. But if that reason is severe pride in another piece of equipment, then it...”
“Will get all the attention.” Shelly says following his train of logic. “Wait, how do you know there are two squads worth on the registry I checked.”
“I’m learning your language, not totally ignorant. I can read it just fine, I just need some more time than I’d like.” He remarks as they head down and he swipes a keycard into lock of the door. Shelly turns on the lights and both of them pause.
“Magnificent.” Philip says with a smirk.
“Wonderful, absolutely wonderful.” Shelly says in awe as she beholds the rows upon rows of towering Battle Walkers. Far more than any five squadrons would use. “There was a rumour about one of the bases being used as storage, but that it was this one is just good luck.”
“Bad luck as well, there’s barely any room in this hanger. To say nothing of how much is needed for these beasts to maneuver, it’s why I prefer a Tank myself, but a heavily armed combat walker with the ability to entrench itself to become artillery is an acceptable second place.” Philip says as he walks up to the nearest massive weapon’s platform. It’s easily a hundred tons in weight and while it has several cannons pointed forward, the real prize is on the back.
“This is old school firepower. The Empire has moved away from this kind of combat doctrine and the Vatras have followed. These things are old, but they’ll still hit like a meteor.” Shelly says as she remembers the fast things running around in all sorts of configurations as a massive contest was held for which one would be the main combat walker of The Empire. In the end they had settled on flight capable bipedal platform. Very light compared to these stompers, but comparably fragile.
“Yes, they’re not very fast, but they’re mobile, all terrain artillery units. If we can get our hands on something more modern from the Vatras to support and screen these beasts we might be able to take a station down. Especially if it’s been damaged to begin with.”
“Maybe one, if there are two left then the second will be able to shoot us into a crater before our shots can reach it. As powerful as these weapons are we need the element of surprise for them to work.” She says going over the hunched over posture of the massive battlemech. “And more modern armour will dance circles around these girls and reduce them to slag before they can get a shot off. These beasts are slow and mean, but slow gets you shot down.”
“Which means we need to think of them more like semi-mobile emplacements.” Philip remarks as he climbs up the ladder to the entry port in the side and pops it open. “My word... it has the new car smell.”
“The new car smell?”
“The smell of chemicals and such used in manufacture. This particular piece of equipment was never even used before being placed here in storage. Wicked waste.” He says derisively before closing the door. “So, what do you think of our odds now?”
“Getting better. But I’ll need to do some digging. I was in charge of ground forces, not armoured. I’ll need to see if any of my old friends in command are still around to find someone that can lead a force like this.”
“Good lass.” Philip says as he hops down and lands with barely a bend to his knees. “We have a hundred and twenty of these walkers. Which considering the yield of their artillery lasers they just barely equal the output of a single station.”
“Wouldn’t they go over... no wait, each individual beam would be distorted at least somewhat and the single large one from the station would have less interference. So it would come to roughly the same amount, just a little bit of power one way or the other...” She mutters as she does the math. “Still, we have the equivalent of a station on the ground. That’s... big. Really big.”
“It is, and it’s something to keep very close to the chest. If any of the Vatras realize there’s a direct, pound per pound, threat to their power they can and will do something about it. Stealth is wealth in this scenario and we need to be wealthy indeed to pull this off.”
“You just quoted something.” She remarks and he smirks.
“Yes, I spent some time undercover as a burgler and petty thief. The things you learn in criminal circles my dear, why, it’d make your hair go white!” He says and she considers, thinks and then comes to a realization.
“So how much of your thieving skills have you used here today?”
“In this building? Precious few. In actually casing the area I got the keycards and authentication from? Quite a few. Proper criminality needs both patience and audacity at the appropriate times.” Philip says as he glances down the way. “There seems to be some modifications near the back. Those are likely the Battle Walkers that I assumed would be here.”
“So you were expecting some.”
“I was expecting at worst some mouldering parts and tools left over from Valiance and Determine Squadrons.” He admits. “At best I was hoping for the entire squadron’s walkers. Maintaining all these Battle Walkers is going to be an enormous issue.”
“Can’t win but for winning?”
“Almost.” He admits. “Hmm... There are so many opportunities that are opening up.”
“Opportunities for whom?”
“For you and yours. While each one of these behemoths might need a hundred siblings to match a station. Those stations are designed to leave wounds on worlds. These armours will work as defensive emplacements that can get up and walk away. A station they’ll struggle with one to one, but they can and likely will leave gruesome holes in capital ships.” Philip says.
“So you don’t intend these to be brought out until AFTER you do your insane stunt and steal a station?” She asks.
“That’s correct.” Philip notes as he leads her through the rows upon rows of Combat Walkers and inspects them all in a quick scan to see if any of them jump out at him. He pauses at seeming random and runs his finger over one of the legs and finding the paint cracking off and peeling. “Hmm... must have been produced while the Vatras were taking the planet. Not enough time to get a second coat of paint.”
“How did you see that?” She asks him.
“Because I was looking for it.” He replies.
“You were looking for brittle and cracking paint?”
“I was looking for defects. We’ll get a trusted engineer in here to give everything a look over. For all we know each of these walkers are just waiting to fall apart and a proper push from the side will cause it to crumble.” Philip says and Shelly gathers some Axiom and shoulder checks the nearest Walker. It sways ever so slightly. “You can fight a Battle Walker?”
“They’re powerful, but they have weaknesses. Especially when they’re powered down.” She answers and he smiles.
“Excellent. Now then, shall we see what kind of modifications Valiance and Determine made to their walkers?” He asks as he leads her further back and Sally sighs. “Oh dear...”
“... Yes...” Sally says as she beholds the decal on the side of a walker that just shows a Jorgua man made of muscles and holding a plasma cannon as the only thing keeping him decent. To her surprise Philip actually laughs at the sight of it before mimicking the pose of flexing all the muscles while having a firm and suggestive grip on the cannon.
“What do you think?” He asks and she shakes her head in amusement.
“I think you’re a little overdressed for it.” She chides him. “You don’t take offence?”
“My dear woman, I count on it.” He replies.
“Of course, if someone’s brain’s in their crotch then they’re not doing too well in a fight.”
“Exactly so.” Philip answers. “So... do you have enough to be ready?”
“I need to see one more place. The most important place in any military base.”
“Ah yes, how could I possibly forget?” Philip asks.

“Hmm... of all the places to have most of the tools go missing I must admit I didn’t expect it from the kitchens.” Philip notes somewhat ruefully.
“People can explain having a spatula, frying pan or big serving spoon. Even butcher knives and the like. Not so much a massive Battle Walker.”
“Very true dear girl. Very true indeed.” He notes as he finds bare cupboards, empty shelves and nothing at all left in the kitchen, stasis storage or pantry. “Did they just walk out with everything that wasn’t bolted down?”
“No, the chairs in the mess hall are mostly here?” Shelly says turning the light on in the mess hall and chuckling at what she sees.
“Mostly?” Philip demands and then he pokes his head in and scans the room. “Unbelievable.”
“Looks like a quarter maybe?” She asks indicating the missing chairs.
“Roughly.” He replies. “This is going to be less complicated to replace than potentially missing Walkers, but still aggravating.”
“Good luck with that. I’ll get to talking to some friends of mine. If nothing else they’ll love the chance for a front row seat into whatever you’re about to do.”
“Ah... good.”
“How ARE you going to take control of a space station?”
“Manuel override during the viral attack. I’ll need to be in engineering to do it, and once we’re in the lake I can deal with the rest of the crew at my leisure as things will be cut off from the outside world as the chaos ensues.”
“And what about Protn based communications? No amount of interference can get around that.”
“Yes, that’s why I need to select my target and time carefully. Scouting is very important after all.” He says. “Protn can be scanned for and detected with ease. I hit those while my forces take the engine room and take us down.”
“And who are you getting?”
“That depends entirely on how easily swayed the engineering staff are. Several of the stations have some very likely prospects and I have the meeting with the first of them in...” He checks his watch. “Three hours.”
“... You’re already on it?!”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“It turns out that the crew you can’t parade around or can’t threaten you with violence tend to be underestimated by despots. It’s almost like those obsessed with power are unfamiliar with the extremely important details of things such as upkeep.”
“Really?”
“Well, that’s the obvious explanation. The more serious one is that people that grasp at power often over or under delegate. Those that over-delegate are often preening fools that are best ignored. Give them some cookies and shove them in a corner with a model and they’re out of your hair. Those that are obsessively in control and under-delegate simply stretch themselves too thin, tire themselves out and miss important details. From my understanding the Engineering staff of several stations are moderately paid, but routinely ignored and will take a pay cut if things go wrong. Even if it was the ignoring that caused the situation to begin with.”
“Right... okay. Holy goddess, even when thigns were working well there were weaknesses you could have danced through weren’t there?”
“No system is perfect. And the trick to infiltration is to find the weaknesses. Although the best advice is to generally go for being as low ranked as you can pretend to be in you’re infiltrating. That way less people will be concerned with who you are and why you’re there.”
“But then anyone can order you around.”
“And following those orders lets you get all over the place and a ready made scapegoat for all kinds of things. Every issue is an opportunity if you play it that way.”
“... Are you trying to make me into a spy?”
“Ah, pardon me. I’ve spent so long teaching the habit has stuck.”
“Teaching? Teaching who?”
“A pair of most adept students that I had the pleasure of seeing blossom into masters.”
“You really enjoy answering questions without answering them, don’t you?”
“Occupational hazard my dear, along with sudden mortality if I let myself slip.”

Hello:
I’ve got an app that only seems to like its work files to use a Drive:\Path location (e.g. X:\App\Datafiles) rather than an UNC (\server\Share\DataFiles). The app needs a windows service yet the setup program only gave options for “Local System Account” or “Network Service Account”.
Given these limitations, how to ensure that “NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM” (the account that is behind the “Local System Account” option in the Windows service MMC) always has the drives necessary to allow this app’s service to access its files?
I looked into it and don’t like what I see: * a batch file as a scheduled task set to “at system startup” calling psexec to map it. I don’t like this option due to not being able to control with 100% accuracy that the batch file will run before the services for this app start up (thus causing the system to fail the service startup) plus it needs an external tool and is kind of a hack job as it leaves a (false) “Disconnected Network Drive” visible to everyone who logs in at that server (admittedly only myself and a select few other people) * choose to run the service with a specified local account but then need to muck about with NTFS and share permissions on a directory by directory basis (it expects certain directories/files full control, while others read/write, while others with various permissions if using anything other than local system) * upgrade and get on with it. This is not a valid choice due to: (1) I am supporting a customer who’s line of business has centralized on this thing as THE way to handle email and calendaring, (2) “old timers” gonna be “old timers” and resist change with “if it ain’t broke… why fix it? Along with justifying not moving to a newer generation of this messaging system that still exists by citing things like “we’ve sunk the last x (10+) years of our data (email, calendaring, documents) into this system, migration up to a later version would be too costly financially, interfere with day to day business operations, and we’ve already gotten custom development work to extend this messaging system for our organization’s needs beyond accepted industry standards”, (3) it plays well with their instant messaging and presence system for both inter-site and intra-site use (IM Made by same vendor) and custom integration with their PBX and paging system, (4) I don’t have the cash to upgrade my lab to a newer version nor the time to take additional training on upgraded versions, plus I got lucky getting their exact version in a lot of assorted old software on eBay.
