I (F25) owe my boyfriend (M26) 10k$ and I feel trapped

2024.06.10 19:26 KuromiShiromi I (F25) owe my boyfriend (M26) 10k$ and I feel trapped

Sorry for the long post but I’m really lost with this and don’t know what to do!! Also English is not my first language so sorry for any mistakes :/
My bf M26 and I F25 started dating 3 years ago. At the beginning of the relationship he was working on a business project and asked me to help him with some design stuff. I wanted to make a good impression so I agreed to do him a favor. I started working on the project but he was very demanding, he never liked my work and made me modify everything an absurd amount of times even thought he knew nothing about design or marketing. This changed completely my attitude towards him and we started having fights constantly where he would tell me that o don’t work enough and putting the financial pressure of his business on me. Meanwhile he wasn’t working on he’s project a lot. I was still a student and he was a on a gap year before doing a masters degree. I also have to add that I was never paid for all the work I have done, he would tell me that he would share the benefits with me.
Almost a year into our relationship, I had enough. I decided to tell him that I wasn’t going to work for him anymore, it was deteriorating our relationship and I couldn’t bear the pressure, I wasn’t happy at all. A few months later things were better but he would start to resent me for “abandoning”him on this adventure and the arguments started over again. After one of the arguments I checked his phone while he was away, only to find he was talking to few girls and asking to meet up. Obviously had a huge argument about this to which he told me it was my fault because he was mad at me and wanted to talk to other girls. And I don’t know why I forgave him.
About a year and a half into the relationship things started to get better, we respected each others boundaries and needs. Until one day, I wanted to decorate my new apartment (we don’t live together), but I was still a student and didn’t want to spend a lot so I got crafty. So I saw this trendy item on Pinterest and decided to recreate it, told my boyfriend about it and he convinced me to buy more of the materials needed to make more items.
When I got the materials he made the item with me and after seeing that I did a good job he started telling me that I should opened an Etsy shop and sell them. I wasn’t to keen on the idea because I had my studies still and couldn’t give it enough time. But then he forced me to do it. It wasn’t a bad idea either but I didn’t wanted to have him involved. A few months in I had the opportunity to participate in a very popular Christmas market. The fee was almost 4k$. I asked my parents for help but they said no, so I gave up on the opportunity. But my bf thought it was a good investment and offered me the money. I told him it was going to be more that 4k because I needed packaging and materials… he insisted he believed in the business and that he saw this as an investment but I refused still. 2 months before Christmas, the market organizer called me and asked me if I still wanted to participate because the had a spot for me. I was with my boyfriend when they called and he convinced me to accepted his help. We wanted to make a legit brand so I designed a really cool packaging and some other things that were a bit expensive. Overall he gave me between 8k$ and 10k$. After the market we had roughly 4k$ profit. But we still had a lot of packaging to continue. My first mistake was here. I didn’t gave him any money. I used it pay my rent and my life for the months to come (keep in mind at this time he was unofficially living with me and I did all the groceries, cooking cleaning).
At this time he started his new masters degree and new job so he wasn’t really asking for the money but the he had a few problems with his first job. He then found a new job but eventually got tired. He finished his degree last September and since then has been jobless. In Christmas 2023 we did again the same market and this time I invested 15k$ in my small business. He helped me with the preparation and after that we ended up with 7k$ profit, which again I used to pay bills and rent. This time I gave him 500$ for helping me.
After that I went to my hometown for the holidays and fell back in love with the city plus I missed my family a lot. So I decided to move back. The day I wanted to announce it to him his dad had a heart attack (he’s doing better now) and hasn’t been able to work since. My bf lives with his dad and at the moment they have basically no income. I urged him to get a job and get his life together for the sake of both of them.
6 months later (aka this month) I went to visit him for a week, and he didn’t plan any activity for us, but we made it work at the end. Until one of the nights he logged into my phone, took my instagram info and logged into my account on his phone without my knowledge. At this time a guy friend started texting me about meeting up, I politely declined because I was in another city but continued the conversation and joked about meeting in the airport because he was leaving the same day I came back. During the last 3 days with my bf he was constantly checking this conversation, mind that it was also in a foreign language for him. He started acting weird and also confessed to me that now his mother doesn’t like me because I left the town and “stole” her son’s money. The last day when I was getting ready to go the airport he started asking questions about this dude and accusing me of cheating with him. I had to leave or I would lose my flight so after arguing a bit I left. When I got to my city I sent him a long text explaining to him everything but he wasn’t reassured. At this moment I didn’t knew he had my ig so I kept texting my friend. When all of a sudden my boyfriend started texting me that it was over between us and that I have to give him his money back asap. He stated that I had a month to give him back his money. I panicked and the figured that he had my instagram account. We ended up calling each other to try to work it out but now he wants me to work non stop and act “good”. He said he wanted my instagram password forever and my location 24/7.
He’s been acting extremely cold and only speaks to me about my work. Meanwhile he’s having fun with his friends and smoking weed daily. I don’t know what to do in this situation, I want to leave but don’t want to hurt him or think that I am stealing from him. That money was never the issue until he logged into my instagram. I would love to give him back everything asap but I don’t have financial stability right now. If I stay with him he said that I don’t have to give him back the 10k but I decide to leave yes. So right now I feel trapped in the relationship and I don’t know how to escape amicably.
TL;DR: my boyfriend invested 10k$ in my small business and wants it back if we break up.

2024.06.10 19:25 CutAccomplished358 23F, Bachelors in Economics and finance, unsure what to do now - all opportunities seem very poorly paid and boring.

Background story: Straight out of high school I enrolled into computer science. I failed most of the subjects, couldn't focus, fell depressed. My parents pushed for me getting an economics degree and here I am now. At first I hated the idea but I quickly loved how well I did in it.
Job experience: Got a 7 month internship as an auditor in my second year due to good grades and a math competition I got a bronze medal in, but on the job itself I received a bunch of meaningless tasks. The office culture was sad and I didn't like any of my coworkers. The good thing is that I definitely know I don't want to be an accountant or do a masters related to obtaining ACCA or similar.
Dream "job": I've always wanted to be an author but I'm afraid the market is too saturated, I'm not that good at writing and I'm worried I'll fall under depression again if I don't find something to do soon.
Initial plan: High school was a smooth cruise and I thought I could do whatever I want, so my family and I agreed for me to do medicine to become a doctor. In my country you're supposed to do extra paid classes in chemistry or biology to pass the entrance exams, which they didn't agree to enroll me in AND I didn't study hard enough on my own, I felt it was a hopeless task. I never applied to med school and I may have come to terms with it. Studying for 10 more years under my parents' roof sounds like hell even though I love them, they are extremely religious, in a dysfunctional relationship and used to yell a lot (not anymore but it was very different when I was younger and I took that decision).
Immigration: I am open to immigrate in another country in the EU, study master's there although I'm not sure what I want to study.
My dream is to travel a bit, build a family, have my own house and not be embarrassed by my job because truthfully I am embarrassed for studying business, everyone kept telling me I could do better and it stinks. I'm not trying to be condescending to people who enjoy economics or the fields related, I enjoyed them somewhat, I just have personal issues I don't think I can deal with.
What should be my next step?

2024.06.10 19:15 Joser_7625 PMCC 4th Watch: A Cult in Christ's Clothing

Below are 10 points to help you consider if your church is cult-like (or on its way there) (taken from: https://eitan.baarticles/christian-cults/ )

The texts in bold italic are my own words.
1. An Overly Strong Charismatic Leader A common feature of Christian cults is the presence of a powerful, charismatic leader(/s) who is seen as the ultimate authority within the group. These leaders often claim to possess unique spiritual insight, divine revelation, or even prophetic powers. Then, they demand unquestioning obedience from their followers, presenting their teachings as the supreme (if not only) path to salvation.
Isn't this obvious within the 4th Watch? 4th Watchers claim that they have a living apostle named Arsenio T. Ferriol who guides the church and his interpretation of the scriptures must be the only one followed and taught. Members also exaggerate in praising the apostle and his family and we can also see how they live lavish lives while the members are having a difficult time both in living and serving the cult. It is also important to note that Arsenio has connections with the elect or higher ups in the Filipino society.
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." - Matthew 24:24
2. Thought Control Christian cults often employ thought control techniques to manipulate their members, discouraging critical thinking and promoting a black-and-white worldview. Members are indoctrinated with specific dogmas, and in some cases, mentaly attacked or abused to suppress dissenting opinions.
A key element of thought control in Christian cults is discouraging members from exploring foreign doctrines and theologies or studying the history and development of their own beliefs. By limiting members’ exposure to alternative viewpoints and historical context, the cult maintains a tight grip on its followers’ understanding of faith, ensuring that the group’s doctrines remain unchallenged.
This strict belief system often includes the idea that all non-members are doomed to eternal damnation, further solidifying the “us-versus-them” mentality. By cultivating a fear of outsiders and other belief systems, the cult creates an environment in which members become increasingly reliant on the group for guidance and support, making it difficult for them to question the cult’s teachings or consider alternative perspectives.
Apostle Arsenio T. Ferriol is a good manipulator of minds. One of the central doctrines of the 4th Watch is the imminence of the Second Coming of Christ and "rapture", a doctrine where those who live and accepted Christ as their savior and followed the teachings of the 4th Watch will be suddenly taken along with the apostle in heaven in the blink of an eye. Its members fear when the rapture will occur which the apostle said would occur during his lifetime and ministry. But what happened? On May 19, 2024, the apostle suddenly passed away and no rapture occurred.
“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows." - Matthew 24:36
3. Isolation from Friends and Family Christian cults frequently encourage members to sever ties with friends, family, or any other external influences. By isolating members from their support networks, cult leaders can more easily control and manipulate them. This process might involve members relocating to a secluded compound or withdrawing from social activities with non-members.
Those who give their bodies as living sacrifices to the iglesia or church leave their families and work without being paid in institutions governed by the 4th Watch such as Maranatha Christian Academy, National Christian Life College, or perhaps study as "Bible Students" where they get to know the doctrines of the church and once they graduate, would preach the word and invite more members to the cult. Even in the educational facade of the cult called Maranatha Christian Academy, those who study there regardless of religion experience this seclusion or withdrawing from social activities with non members in the form of "spiritual retreats" where they go to a secluded place and learn customs regularly done by the cult such as "morning devotion".
"Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment." - Proverbs 18:1
4. Exploitation Christian cult members are often required to make substantial financial contributions or, in extreme cases, hand over all their assets to the group. This can include tithes, donations, or fees for participating in various rituals and ceremonies. This, however, can also be an exploitation of time and energy. Sometimes, members may be encouraged or coerced into taking on debt to further fund the cult’s activities.
Now this is the trademark of the 4th Watch based on my observations. Most 4th watchers are encouraged or even obliged to pay the tithes plus love offerings and special offerings. I've seen this in MCA where all the students are encouraged to pay numerous fees for extracurricular activities including a "thanksgiving" offering during a special worship service before the school year officially ends. Its leader and bishops are very eloquent in obliging members to give more than what they have during offertory messages in the divine worship service. One example I won't forget is when a certain bishop told the congregation that "binigay daw ni apostol hindi lang ang ikapu kung hindi ang lahat ng meron siya sa Panginoon." Since the apostle is overly charismatic to the point that people would follow whatever he said or did, they would also no doubt give abundantly to gain a good reputation within the church and encourage others to do the same.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
5. Forcing Commitment Christian cults frequently demand members to demonstrate perfect devotion to group activities, such as attending meetings, participating in rituals, or performing tasks for the leader. Those who fail to attend often enough are considered “falling from faith” or “weak believers,” which the others must “pray for” and “encourage” them to be more committed. This, of course, causes great mental distress by means of spiritual and emotional manipulation.
Based on my observations, most members of the 4th watch are required to attend whatever activities or gawain the cult would come up such as conventions, divine worship, morning devotion, evangelistic services, paghahayo, birthdays of the leaders or elders, medical missions etc. Those who fail to attend are said to be weak believers and are prayed upon so they'll be more committed in carrying out the cult's orders.
6. Authoritarian Structure More extreme Christian cults are typically characterized by a rigid hierarchy, with the leader at the top and members below. This hierarchy is often enforced through intimidation and coercion, ensuring that members conform to the group’s expectations and obey the leader’s commands. In cults, public humiliation can be a common tactic used to control and manipulate members who are deemed “sinners.” This may involve forcing individuals to publicly expose and confess their perceived transgressions, as well as to repent in front of the group. This process can be deeply humiliating and emotionally damaging for the person involved, as it often involves gossip, intense shaming and degradation.
Such public confessions and repentance can serve multiple purposes within the cult. First, they help to maintain the authority of the cult leader by reinforcing the idea that they have the power to judge and punish those who fail to meet the group’s expectations. Second, they create an atmosphere of fear among the members, deterring them from questioning or defying the cult’s teachings. Lastly, they can serve to break down an individual’s sense of self-worth and autonomy, making them more susceptible to the cult’s control and influence.
The 4th Watch cult perfectly fits in this characteristic of a cult like church. The leader, his family and senior pastors are living lavish lives with better seats, accomodations and outfits during church gatherings or events while those who are ordinary or new members live horrible lives. And whatever the apostle and elders say, the bible students or any member of the cult who is not a presbyter, minister, Ferriol or pastor must obey without ifs or buts. It's also worthy to mention the grand entrance procession the apostle, his family and elders make during regular or special Sunday divine worship services, a sign that they have authority and those below them must submit and see them as high and mighty leaders. They also get special attention even if a song dedicated to God called "Kabanalbanalan" is being sung. Think: some members of the congregation especially those near the aisle take pictures of the entering leaders or even applaud them, while the choir sings the introductory worship song. It's like God has been robbed of His Glory in that service.
Not to mention an incident I read from this subreddit where a certain person did not pay much in the offering and he was disparaged by the other members of the church for not giving much. Plus another member who gave all his salary during the offertory which made him gain a special mention by the pastor during the worship service.
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me." - Exodus 20:1
7. Us-versus-Them Mentality Christian cults frequently cultivate an “us-versus-them” mentality among their members, instilling a belief that their group possesses unique enlightenment and the one true theology, while outsiders are deemed misguided or even evil. Members may be encouraged to view others as “fake believers” or “Christians in name only, lacking genuine rebirth.” This mindset promotes an unhealthy dependence on the group, isolating members from external influences and reinforcing the cult’s authority.
By fostering such a divisive mentality, the cult manipulates its members into remaining loyal and compliant, as questioning the group’s teachings or practices could be perceived as betrayal or spiritual failure. This insularity not only makes it challenging for members to critically evaluate the group’s doctrines but also hinders their ability to form meaningful relationships with those outside the group.
Cults, including Christian ones, often resort to demonizing the outside world as a means of easily controlling and manipulating their members. By portraying non-members and external influences as inherently evil, dangerous, or morally corrupt, the cult fosters a sense of fear and mistrust towards those outside the group. This tactic serves to strengthen the cult’s hold over its members, as they come to view the group as a safe haven and the only source of truth and salvation. One example of an “us-versus-them” mentality applied to a doctrine is some versions of Calvinism’s Total Inability, which asserts that people are born evil, no longer possessing any trace of the image of God in them.
The apostle and his followers claim that the PMCC 4th Watch is the only true church in the end times while the rest are false so they must conduct "home free crusades" or paghahayo where they do street preaching or members invite non-4th watcher family members and friends to join the church. There are even reports of 4th watch pastors or members verbally attacking other religions or Christian sects claiming that they are cults.
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." - 1 John 4:1
8. Strict Rules and Regulations Christian cults usually impose strict rules and regulations on their members, dictating everything from how they should (or shouldn’t) wear on their bodies, people they should (or shouldn’t) be in a personal relationship with (sometimes, against their will- like in an abusive marriage). Breaking these rules can result in severe punishment, both mental and emotional. In the case of families, then discipline will most likely include physical/corporal punishments as well, especially for little children. This, as well, will be done in the name of God, which of course, goes against the Bible (Exodus 20:7).
Cults may punish those they consider “sinners” severely, in God’s name, to maintain control and ensure adherence to the group’s beliefs and norms. These punishments can take various forms, such as public humiliation, isolation, shunning or emotional manipulation. By enforcing strict consequences for perceived transgressions, cult leaders create an environment of fear and obedience, making it more difficult for members to question or challenge the group’s teachings. This punitive approach can exacerbate the harmful effects of cult dynamics on individuals, as it further isolates members from outside support networks and erodes their sense of self-worth and autonomy.
"Bawal manood ng sine." - Apostle Arsenio Ferriol. This is one of the ridiculous rules I've seen made by the apostle but I am pretty sure there are more. I've even heard from someone who once studied in MCA that those who attend spiritual retreat camps must wake up early for morning devotion or else they'll be punished if they oversleep.
9. Lack of Transparency
Lack of transparency is a common characteristic of cults, as they often strive to maintain a positive image to the outside world while hiding internal issues and wrongdoings. In an effort to avoid embarrassment and maintain control, cult leaders may cover up illegal activities or unethical behavior within the community, such as sexual abuse. By sweeping these transgressions under the carpet, they prevent the outside world from learning about the group’s darker side, thereby preserving their carefully crafted facade.
This lack of transparency and accountability can have severe consequences for the victims of abuse, who may be silenced or even pressured to forgive their abusers without seeing any real justice. Offenders, on the other hand, may continue to exploit and harm others without facing any consequences for their actions. This dangerous environment perpetuates the cycle of abuse and manipulation within the cult, as members remain trapped in a system that prioritizes the group’s image over the well-being and safety of individuals.
I've read stories of PMCC4W pastors and MCA teachers who are guilty of sexual abuses or pedophilia and yet nothing happened and even the cult promoted these sexual offenders into a higher office within the church or put them in a different locale. (Former 4th watchers correct me if I'm wrong please) And about the said issues told by some former 4th watchers, the authorities in the cult prefer to keep silent and not bring up about these topics instead of confessing them.
"Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy." - Proverbs 28:13
10. Fear of Leaving Christian cults often fail to understand what God’s grace really is (a loving and protective father vs. an abuser who’s willing to spare your life), which is a central tenet of the Gospel. Grace is the unmerited favor and love that God extends to all people, irrespective of their actions or worthiness. In a healthy understanding of Christianity, God’s grace is meant to inspire believers to lead a life of love, compassion, and spiritual growth. However, in Christian cults, the focus often shifts from grace to strict rules, fear, and judgment. These groups may downplay or ignore the concept of God’s grace, instead using fear of divine punishment to manipulate and control their members. As a result, followers may develop a distorted understanding of their faith, one that lacks the hope, forgiveness, and transformation that God’s grace offers. This failure to recognize and embrace grace can contribute to the toxic environment within such cults and hinder the spiritual development of their members.
Sadly, Christian cults often instill a deep-seated fear in members about the consequences of leaving the group. This fear can manifest in various ways, such as the threat of eternal damnation, social ostracism, or in some extreme cases- physical harm. As a result, members may feel trapped within the cult, unable to escape even if they recognize the group’s harmful nature.
I believe those who dare to leave the PMCC4W are faced with threats of eternal damnation from their locales' respective ministers or ostracism from fellow cult members who they had shared a bond with during their time within the iglesia. (Former 4th watchers can expound on this. Your comments and thoughts are well appreciated.)
So that's all I have to report about this cult based on my observations. It is clear that the 4th Watch is guilty of these cultic characteristics. It's time for its members to think if they're really in a sacred space where God's love and grace can be felt or if they're being controlled in mind, body and soul by an ambitious, cunning and condescending cult leader.

2024.06.10 19:11 eskimolimon Law School Admission Chances - Seeking Advice on LSAT Score

Hi everyone,
I’m considering applying to law school and would love to get some feedback on my chances based on my academic and professional background. Additionally, I’m curious about what LSAT score I should aim for given my profile. My reason for wanting to go to law school is because I want to be an IP lawyer for biotechnology and emerging technologies, given my background. Here’s a summary of my achievements:
Academic Background:
Bachelor’s Degree: Honors in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. Graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.98/4.0 (Top 5% of my class, Dean’s List). 4.0/4.0 in last two years.
Master’s Degree: Completed a master’s in Experimental Medicine with a GPA of 4.0/4.0.
Research Experience:
I published 13 peer-reviewed articles in several academic fields including cellular biology, physiology, technology, philosophy, business, economics, and strategic innovation. Received over $100k in funding for research and academic excellence, including prestigious national and international awards, during undergrad and master's.
Professional Experience:
I have professional experience as researcher and communications consultant for biotech and tech startups.
Academic Activities and Leadership:
Teaching Assistant and Instructor: Supervised lab sessions, graded reports, and guided students in tech bootcamps.
Reviewer and Editor: Reviewed manuscripts for top journals and served on several editorial boards.
Senator and Board Member: Held various leadership roles in academic and student organizations, advocating for student needs and enhancing academic programs. I was the representative for the whole science faculty and served on various university governing bodies such as Board of Governors and university senate.
Community Involvement:
I have a lot of mentorship experience, as well as volunteering and fundraising.
I was also a varsity athlete for 3 years in soccer during my undergraduate degree.
Given my background, what LSAT score should I aim for to maximize my chances of getting into a top law school? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Reviewing The Teenage Symphony To God: A Beach Boys Alternate History
https://preview.redd.it/o91itnmx0s5d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76aa9bb3288603b57983852aa19a91cdece56935
For Context, please read Part 1
TL;DR: This is a scenario where The Beach Boys release SMiLE during October 1967, after a tumultuous recording period that sees Brian Wilson creatively tested, the other Beach Boys showing wavering loyalty, and the release of Sgt Pepper.
Before we continue on this long promised road, some things worth mentioning:
1. I have deliberately NOT given a final track listing or order for SMiLE. My idea being that you, the reader, decide on what you think SMiLE would have sounded like in 1967. However, as most LPs were limited to single disc, 20 minutes per side, vinyl, the album would not be rock’s first double LP.
2. SMiLE supplants Smiley Smile in The Beach Boys catalogue. Read this post to see what happens to the non SMiLE songs of the era.
3. While events have changed, I am not going to disregard real events. The release of SMiLE has no positive impact on Brian Wilson's mental health, and will not allieviate the trials that he has gone through.
4. I did not mention the ‘Fire’ incident in Part 1 (Brian believed one of the compositions for SMiLE caused a fire of a nearby building, and that the music brought about ‘Bad Vibrations’). This incident is highly documented and embellished. In this timeline, while the fire did happen, I am going to take the lazy excuse of ‘Cooler heads prevailed, and Brian did not believe the music caused the fire’ for the sake of adding more lore to a pretty long preamble.

In the Cantina, Margarita keeps the spirits high

SMiLE is released during October 1967, with Derek Taylor (Beach Boys press officer, previously doing the same for The Beatles) organising a campaign in the dirt sheets, and music magazines. A radio campaign is also started, and The Beach Boys (sans Brian) appear on TV performing Good Vibrations, and Heroes and Villains, the next single release.
Reviews for SMiLE are published in newspapers, music magazines (including the first issue of Rolling Stone). The consensus of reviewers is that there is no consensus. The album is simultaneously heralded as ‘A great album, full of character, and revolutionary advancement for modern pop’, while others call it ‘Psychedelic doo wop shit’. Album sales are less than expected in the domestic market. SMiLE peaks at Number 15 in the album charts, a drop from Pet Sounds which reached #10. Brian is distraught at the seeming lack of acceptance of the new sound. In Europe, particularly the UK, SMiLE peaks at #2. Sgt Pepper was #1 in the UK for 27 Weeks. SMiLE remains in the UK charts for much of Winter 1967/1968, eventually leaving the charts in March of 1968.
Mixed fortune continues to divide the band. Mike Love continues to believe that the core audience of The Beach Boys is being alienated. Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson believe that SMiLE has opened the band to new sounds and expectations, while Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine continue to show loyalty to Brian. Brian Wilson, for his part, is hurt by the seeming rejection of SMiLE. He is also beginning to feel more out of place as part of The Beach Boys.

Who ran the Iron Horse?

Backtrack to Summer 1967, and something unexpected happens. On a recording break, The Beach Boys are performing for 2 nights in Hawaii, and Brian Wilson agrees to attend. His attendance proves important as the band are to perform select songs from the SMiLE sessions, and Bruce Johnston drops out. His reasoning being that the arrangement in the band had gotten ‘too weird’, amidst the recording of SMiLE. With Brian there, the band can rehearse how to sing some of the songs live. It would not be possible to do the songs as recorded on the album, so Brian rearranges many of the songs into simpler, more relaxed arrangements.
The Beach Boys perform for 2 nights in Hawaii, playing classics, alongside Heroes and Villains, Good Vibrations, and a song called ‘Gettin’ Hungry’ with a slight RnB vibe. The show is successful, and the more relaxed playing inspires Brian. Listening to a lot of RnB, and inspired by Carl Wilson’s changing music tastes, Brian decides to go in a looser, less complicated direction for the next album. This album would be called ‘Wild Honey’.

Eat a Lot, Sleep a Lot

Burnt out, exhausted, mentally not doing well. This explains Brian Wilson from the late 60s onwards. He makes some changes to The Beach Boys. Inspired by the Hawaii concerts, the next album would be looser, more Soul and R‘N’B inspired, and focus more on the harmonies and singing of the band. Brian also stops taking sole credit for production, instead crediting production to all six Beach Boys, so that he would not feel ‘stung’ by criticism towards another ‘Brian Wilson’ record. Thirdly, the band start to record at Brian’s home studio. As a result, Wild Honey’s sound is completely different to SMiLE. It zigs where SMiLE zags. It also sees Carl Wilson take a more active role as band leader.
The album is recorded quickly, and Wild Honey is released in February 1968. Wild Honey in this timeline is basically the same album, but with one change: The last track, ‘Mama Says’ is replaced, in favour of ‘Gettin Hungry’ (Originally from Smiley Smile). The new album is a response to the belief that The Beach Boys were not ‘hip’ as their previous album would suggest. Less harmony, more solo singing, more rock and soul. Wild Honey peaks at #24 in America, and #7 in the UK. It becomes their lowest charting album, up to that point.
As an aside, in our timeline, this same album was an improvement on Smiley Smile, so for it to end up being the weakest album in this timeline shows that these events are only going to get weirder. Brian’s slightly reduced involvement is coupled with a resentment of The Beach Boys. The return to a more pop oriented sound was very much led by Mike Love, though with Carl Wilson mediating to make the album more artistic. Brian was beginning, at this point, to feTel the need to leave The Beach Boys and go out on his own.

Dove Nested Towers

In our timeline, The Beach Boys created a vanity label in 1966 called 'Brother Records'. Its purpose was to give the band more creative freedom, amidst Capitol Records not promoting the band properly. During the recording of SMiLE, it was found that Capitol had not been paying royalties to the band. This led to a legal dispute between Brother Records and Capitol Records, which was settled in 1967.
In this timeline, however, I would imagine that the settlement is not a done deal, and the relative failure of SMiLE and Wild Honey further cool relations between Capitol Records and The Beach Boys. As a result, The Beach Boys look for a new distribution deal elsewhere. As this goes on, The Beach Boys have a few more albums to make for their current contract with Capitol. This comes at a time where Brian's enthusiasm for The Beach Boys is at an all time low, and his mental health is at an all time low. Brian records demos at his home studio, sometimes with the rest of the band, but usually on his own, with session musicians.
Besides Brian, there are issues with Dennis Wilson. The middle Wilson brother is beginning to write songs, and is starting to clash with the band, based on his vision for the group. His style, much like Brian's, is to artistically elevate the group, but more in tune with contemporary and popular music. This is fuelled by collaborations with a former convict named Charles Manson (And this also actually happened in our timeline. Charles Manson squatted at Dennis Wilson's home).
The 1968 recordings come at a time when the band is running out of money. Poor investments, lower royalties due to dropped sales, and smaller attendances to gigs mean that the band needs hits. The new album, tentatively titled 'Friends' is a far cry from the situation that the band finds itself in. Brian wants out, and is recording very personal autobiographical songs about his growing family, his interests, alongside experiments with bossa nova. Dennis Wilson is starting to record his own songs, contributing two to the new project, while Mike Love feels that the band needs to find a formula that will return them to commercial success. All the while, the band is losing money, and they are overdue to release a new album, per their deal with Capitol Records.
Friends is released in June of 1968. Its short runtime, its lack of conventional pop songs, and songs that don't seem to match those of the era, is negatively reviewed at the time. Not even the UK could save it. The good songs it had (And they are good songs) did not get radio play. Capitol were not promoting it, and Brian suffers a nervous breakdown.

2024.06.10 19:08 Accurate_Strain4106 I'm trying really had to be the bigger person.

I really just want to post this somewhere and get it off my chest.
I was bullied by an older girl starting when I was in 7th grade. We were in the same gym class and afterwards, we were in the locker room changing. I asked my locker partner not to shut the locker, and the soon-to-be bully thought I was staring at her and I'm a lesbian. I'm not. I didn't even know what a lesbian was at this point in life.
This was 1994ish in a small-town school, so being a lesbian was not an okay thing. She was loud and relentless about it, and no one did anything. Even when someone would ask if I was a lesbian, I'd say no.... but they'd believe her anyway. It was terrible.
The school year ended and she went on to high school in a different building. Cool, done?
No, because she and her friends in her neighborhood were so terrible that their bus driver threatened to quit if they weren't removed from her route, so they were placed onto our bus route. So now I'm stuck with her on my bus during my 8th grade year. You'd also think that she'd forget.... nope!
The school year ends, and now we're both back in the same school building. Okay, but she's a year ahead. What are the odds we're in any of the same classes?
Seriously???
In typing class, we were not seated together. I don't think she noticed I was in there and it wasn't a problem but I still tried to be as quiet and invisible as possible.
Study Hall was held in the cafeteria, which was a rather large room. Ok cool? No, we're seated at the same table. Ok, but the monitor is right there? Nope! Didn't matter, they were buddy buddy. Can't be invisible if she's almost right across from me. She spent her days talking about her "extra curricular" activities with the boys to the others at the table. It was really quite disgusting to hear. They all thought it was fantastic.
So school year ends thank god.
10th grade, we had no classes together but she'd ride my bus if she stayed over at her boyfriend's house. There was never an issue, but her presence was enough to send me into a panic attack.
Then she graduated a year early! Thank GOD! I can now enjoy my 11th and 12th-grade year without the universe constantly shoving us together and trying to pretend I'm invisible.
Fast forward to 2016, she moved to a bigger city that I had moved to but also since out of. I saw on the news that a kid was killed in a shooting leaving a school festival. His mom..... my bully.... wow, that is absolutely terrible. No matter how bad she was, no one deserves THAT. So her life is flipped upside down and she actually uses her powers for good instead of evil to campaign for her son's killer to receive the harshest punishment possible. There are new stories and press conferences, all sorts of things. Her son was an organ donor, and they took everything they possibly could use for donations. Ok cool, you're advocating for that as well.
The shooter was found guilty but somehow only received 11 years or so. But, doing some facebook stalking, he's not learning his lesson. His family is posting for him these pictures from prison where it looks like he's running his own prison gang. He got such a harsh sentence because he was a black boy who shot a white kid. Their words, not mine. So let's just assume when he gets out, he's going to go do it again and go right back to prison.
So fast forward to 2024, the first thing I saw this morning was my bully threw out the first pitch at a local minor league baseball game in honor of her volunteer work in the name of her son for the donation charity that handles organ donation.
Unfortunately, I twitch. Okay, she's doing good things in light of her son's death, but behind the curtain, is she still evil? Does anyone else feel as if it's all a production and a cover-up for how terrible she used to be? I want to say something, but I know I'm going to be called petty and terrible and how all these years later, I should just get over it. I agree but...... So I'm really, really trying to take the high road and just keep my mouth shut.

The Animutarae Musculus were the first ones granted this mutation on the planet, and came from the common mouse species on planet earth.
Psychic/Grass: Ultimate Bioburst(See Original in Grass Types) Appearance * Cosmic Latte Glowing Color * Universe Spiral Symbol On Stomach * Lack of plant/animal features on body Powers/Ability * Able to absorb multiple objects within a “biosphere”, and can absorb up to the entire Universe * Objects Inside will experience regular time until the end of the universe, which will take place in seconds to outside observers * Will instill an end to universe * Afterwards will blast the biosphere with larger range and force equivalent to the Big Bang * Rapidly and perfectly recreates the objects absorbed during impact, relocating them as their original state when absorbed * Levitation * Stronger Body Weaknesses/Drawbacks: * Takes more concentration and time to absorb objects into biosphere * Needs more mass to create biosphere * Living organisms do not re-evolve, and are recreated exactly as they were before absorption
Psychic/Fire: Ultimate Superstar(See Original in Fire Types) Appearance * Visible body outline * Body switches between glowing like a red sun or having skin consisting of a dark space themed texture with multiple mini stars, and planets along the surface. Powers/Ability * Able to control Rotation of planets and planetoids * By extent, able to control the season and climate of current planet * Gains the ability to accelerate or slow growth/metabolism of living organisms Weaknesses/Drawbacks: * Loses ability to emit solar flares * Can’t control solar heat directly * Unable to emphasize biological solar light * Noticeably Slower
Psychic/Water: Xenozar Nemetrix predator of the Psyoniarti (See Anemone in Water Types) Appearance * Komodo dragon-based body * One eye in the center * Square Protrusible Jaws with four giant fangs * Black Leather Skin * Metal-like Chitin growing on Head and Limbs * Long Retractible Claws * Spear like-tail Hunting Method * Temperature based vision * Sharp Claws * Superheated Breath * Voice Mimicry * Able to launch eggs from tail * Vacuum Adaptation * Able to move at high speeds in space * Limited Flight * Eggs thrive in the pocket dimension shared by Psyoniarti, eventually hatching and consuming the species from inside Planet/Species Fact: The Xernozar spend their lives flying through space and looking for prey, initially they’re seen hunting apex predators but not their planets dominant sentient species. Initially they’ve been feared and hunted by different alien societies though some have noticed that the Xenozar could be rather affectionate towards them. Eventually Xenozar have been found killing various Psyoniarti and other hostile Alien invaders, whilst protecting their planets people. Since then, universally the Xenozar are seen as honored guests or even pets in various planets. Though the Psyoniarti and other alien colonies give warning about them in vain.
Psychic/Elctric: Yonous Nemetri predator of the Neurocnidarian (See Nervezzz in Electric Types) Appearance * Varies due to species * Unique glowing parts of body Hunting Method * Unique for each species of Anatomo * Shapeshifting * In the case of the Neurocnidarian: * Nervous System activity hypnotizes prey, eventually absorbs the energy/consciousness inside self
Planet/Species Fact: This alien is widely believed to be the remnants of the formerly alive plane Anatomo out to collect the remaining parts of its former body on a mission to recreate the living planet. How it happened remains to be seen, though a wide number of theories suggest that it was the soul of Anatomo split up and sent out to rebuild itself supported by traces of magic located on Anatomo before its death. Curioisly they aren’t as intelligent as the other species created from the planets remains. Younous can’t even talk or form advanced conscious actions despite their shapeshifting. Their hypnotizing ability comes more from a reaction in their prey’s brain rather than deliberate messaging.
Psychic/Flying: Horavore the nemetrix predator of the Areali (See Unadfo in Flying Types) * Pure Black * Round stone-like body * Three-fold mouth * Multiple Sharp teeth * Larger than a planet Hunting Method * Invisibility * Camouflaged Skin * Intangibility * High speed consumption of planets in second time * Able to sense the entirety of a planet Planet/Species Fact: The Horabar are able to sense Areali flocks lightyears away. They consume planets whole in less than a milisecond, but it will only digest it if there’s at least one full Alkali left on it, otherwise it will spit the planet out intact just as fast as it swallowed, with little to no of the inhabitants noticing. Strangely though they’ll think there’s an Areali on a planet marked with a specific marking the Areali leave. If it eats a planet with this marking it’ll causes a poisonous reaction sickening them for a while, slowing them down preventing them from catching up to the Areali The Areali don’t know why exactly they leave those marks on the planets they visit, but enough stories about Areali and planets disappearing who fail to continue this mission, has them convinced to continue this tradition.
Psychic/Ice: Ultimate Snow Heads (See original in Ice Name) Appearance * Multiple minds the size and appearance of snowflakes * Clustered in a large clouds able to be cover a city Powers/Ability * Bodies able to live in different states of matter and refold themselves into ice * Extreme Heat resistance * Multiple bodies cools down temp of objects around it by snowing on them to quickly freeze their targets * Able to completely control frozen targets, even animate frozen objects Weaknesses/Drawbacks: * Heat can release control of targets * Unable to freeze targets in a non-solid form * Takes a while falling and controlling targets, limited movement while snowing, can’t chase targets for a long distance control like base
Psychic/Ground: Phanticada Nemetrix predator of the Murncy (See Oraclay in Ground Types) Appearance * Cicada Based Body and swings * Long Trilobite Like-tail * Buzzsaw like Jaws Hunting Method * Flight * Material consumption * Burrowing * Regenerates when remnants interact with psychic energy created by the Murncy * Able to resurrect and call other Phanticada from buried remnants in a long radius
Planet/Species Ability: Since the Phanticada are generalist feeders that consume multiple types of animal found naturally in multiple planets in Olog’s solar system. The Murncy chalked up the first couple of fatalities caused by this species found in their clay sculptures as unfortunate accidents. However upon further studies as well as the help of other alien researchers, they realize their own mysterious abilities somehow resurrect even the slightest remains found in the soil they gather. Not only that, it’s discovered Phanticada from the first planets the Murncy inhabited. Theorized that the species remains were incidentally spread across the solar system when the Murncy explored other planets. Some even theorized the existence of the Phanticada as a form of divine punishment to the Murncy that had their god given powers abused.
Psychic/Rock: Ultimate Caststone (See Original in Rock Types) Appearance * Vines on Body * Wood-Like Appendages * Large Wizard-Like Cloak * Metal Attachments for Helmet and Gauntlets * Digital Screen-Like eyes Powers/Ability * Omnilingual * Knowledge of all Magical Languages * Instaneously learns any new magical language * Able to enchant texts of any language on any material * Like Turning a regular book into a spell book * Able to remove text off any material * Objects with removed texts cannot have text replaced * Enchants objects to hold/expell the magic from enchanted texts * Able to manipulate perception of speech/writing of targets in a city wide radius * Enhanced Magical Capabilities Weaknesses/Drawbacks: * Needs magical texts physically to be read to perform spells * Can’t remove or enchant texts off of digital objects * Needs to learn a consistent code * Spells varies depending on the material the text is removed and the text removed * Generally the older the object and the more texts/languages used the more powerful the spell * Doesn’t initially start out with runes/texts on body * Enchantment on texts can be exhausted * Loses text/characters when knocked out * Gathered text comes back to their origin * Less durable and weaker than original form Psychic/Bug: Ebulphibian nemetrix Predator (See Hive Matter in Bug Types) Appearance * Red and Cyan Coloring * Small frog based body Hunting Method * Extendable tongue * Leaping * Color Changing Skin * Regenerates when remnants interact with psychic energy created by the Murncy * Discretely implants large transparent venomous orb in prey’s body via tongue * Able to sense location of orb * Orb is not rendered an immediate danger and isn’t expelled out of the prey’s body * Orb slowly rises or decreases in temperature over time causes the prey’s body to slowly adapt and expend effort into resisting the changing temperature * At it’s highest/lowest temperature the orb will immediately freeze or burn the prey’s body in a drastic and sudden change that the target’s body can’t adapt to fast enough, quickly killing the target Planet/Species Ability: Ebulphibians are one of the few species on Hexasocal that do not have instant adaptation abilities thanks to their stealth capabilities and passive nature. Ironically this is most effective despite most of their prey being aggressive predators. Eventually the non-predatory species of the Darwasp would start recognizing the threat of the Ebulphibian and would hunt them down and extract an anti-adaptive poison. The process has ended with more fatalities than the times the number of times the poison was used let alone successfully. Now the Darwasp are developing a cure for the Ebulphibian venom, progress has been rocky so far and the Ebulphinous venom started become more potent with each sample gathered
Psychic/Fighting: Ultimate Muscle Memory (See Original in Fighting Types) Appearance * Stronger layers of Muscle over body * Head becomes a more bulbous brain shape with less * Circle-shaped markings on body * Bright Cyan Color Powers and Abilities * Near omniscience intellect * Applies knowledge to navigate environment and react with near precognition-like skills * Able to open skin up to expose brain and senses everything on a world-wide radius, gaining complete knowledge on everything it senses Weaknesses/Drawbacks * Brain vulnerable when exposed * Cannot see or speak * Limited hearing * Can only sense new objects in depth by exposing brain * Brain takes a few seconds to learn as opposes to the base form’s constant learning from sight
Psychic/Poison: Spit Lie (Placebo Producing Devil) Species: PlacebeanPlanet: Psychotaushen Appearance * Humanoid Body * Scaled * Snake eyes and tongue * Purple and Black coloring * Long Forked whip-like tail. * Short Horns Powers and Abilities * Neutrotoxin Saliva * Large amounts of saliva is spewed when talking * Spit is generally odorless and colorless * Omnilingual * Neurotoxin on skin causes the victim to believe physiological effects said by (Species). * Examples being “You gain a Rash when touching Wood” “The Ground makes you slow” “My Stare can but you to sleep” Things that effect the target’s body and mind. * Voice able to trigger neurotoxins even through technology * Can even simulate death. * Even affects target that know of the poison. Weaknesses * All effects are reversed once toxins are removed * Toxins are removed after time * Usually can only create one or two effects at a time depending on how physiologically demanding the effect is * Effects can be ignored by force of will * Effects are ignored by species too unintelligent to understand effects * Psychological effects usually require an audio trigger, and can’t be immediate * Effects cannot be physiologically impossible Planet/Species Fact: Placebeans are an often aloof people that don’t want to be bothered, using their toxins on alien visitors they find bothersome. Despite this as interplanetary travel became more common, Placebeans have found themselves getting jobs as interplanetary translators and even mercenaries. They even bonded closely with a new immigrant species due to their ability to produce a useful substrate for them. In exchange Placebeans used their toxins on them for positive effects in unlocking the potential for their body. Many Placebean scientist has worked on genetic modifications to unlock more potential.
Psychic/Ghost: Mind Hopper Species: Spectanura Planet: Kaneesus Appearance * Legged tadpole based body * Translucent Skull like head * Human Spine for a tail * Two bent legs akin to a Human Skeletons Powers and Abilities * Invisibility * Leaping * Able to implant tail inside target’s head * Mind reading. * Memory Reading * Mind Swapping with target * Able to remove and encase brain/mind from target and hold onto body * Able to swap the encased minds of target with another target * Specific knowledge on how to swap minds with other Spectanura. * Mindswap targets usually poorly operate body, and can’t go invisible. Weaknesses * Can only hold one mind at a time, and can’t voluntarily let go of absorbed mind * Targets may be able to swap minds with a connected Spectarua depending on knowledge and training * Mindswap reverts to normal after omnitrix transformation Planet/Species Fact: Spectanura is a dangerous planet, with the Kneesus having to swap their minds with more mobile predators in order to make strong migrations. Many die before they swap or lose their main bodies in the process becoming trapped in their new body. Small groups of different kinds of bodies have been formed out of this though. But when not using their skill to enter the bodies of strong predators facing dangerous perils, they enjoy using the bodies of safer species, especially ones they’ve never seen before in a safer setting.
Psychic/Dragon: Psygancic (Lovecraftian Dragon) Species: Acshh’huppie Planet: Carfletrov Appearance: * Large Dragon body * Multiple spider-like eyes * Tentacles growing from body * Enlarged head * Disorganized Body dhspr * Gigantic Size Powers/Abilities: * Gigantic Body * Gargantuan Strength * Flight * Vacuum Adaptation * Acidic Breath * Untouchable body on another plane of existence * Able to make eye contact on selected targets * Telepathy * Mind Control, Possession, Induced Illusions of targets made eye contact with it * Able to project images of self stronger from bodies of possessed targets * Able to make contact with those deeply under its influence or close by that target Weaknesses * Can’t normally make bodily contact with targets out of its plane of existence * Total possession/control of target is a gradual process * Targets can fight influence out of its head Planet/Species Fact: An entire system was created from a different plane of reality. The planets have developed into the Milky Way universe and many alien civilizations were formed most of them practicing some form of magic. However, before any of them would make contact with the world outside their own solar system. A council of all other species have decided to banish the planet Carfletrov back into the plane that birthed them. Never to be seen again for both their and others protection. Entire military forces tried invading these biomes through force to gather this material but have left empty handed and without motivation to continue the mission. This was incidentally done by the Lysergians who didn’t know the threat they faced when the military units approached, nor their motivations to use their abilities for redirect them. Ironically enough they don’t know how important their minerals were nor could they find any use for them. By the time they considered throwing it out to the surface, the people there considered halting all efforts to enter the Lysergians domain and the Lysergians forgot about discarding the minerals.

2024.06.10 19:02 BruiseVein Sharing my journey through NEET PG prep and how i scored well in the exam.

Hello everyone. I want to share my journey through NEET PG preparations (PG entrance exam in India) 4 years ago. I was not a great student but i worked really hard through one year of drop and ended up scoring well enough to end up in Radiology which i had never imagined before.
I want to share bits of my own journey, share the things that i learnt about how to score well in the exam.
This is not a step by step guide to crack NEET PG exam, but rather my own experiences and what i believe can help you score well.
Part 1: Introduction
Throughout undergrad i was an average student. I didn’t read a lot, but in general i understood the concepts well.
There's always all kinds of people writing the exam: first, the top tier elite students who have the potential and are hard working enough to crack the exam. We all have those in out batch and we all know who they are.
Second, Mid to low tier ones who either have the potential but are unable to put in enough hard work, or are hard working but lack a smarter approach or strategy. This post is mainly intended for such people.
Then there are ones who neither want to or are incapable of putting in the effort. These are already out of the competition and do not contribute significantly to the competition. The actual competition is among the 30-40k students, beyond which it's just insignificant crowd.
Before approaching NEET PG, i never expected myself to do well in the exam. I was however aware of my shortcomings. I knew what a mammoth task it was to crack an exam like that, and how underprepared i was.
During med school, i had imposter syndrome. I significantly underestimated myself. I attributed the things i had achieved to luck rather than my own hard work. I wasn't very hard working during MBBS either. However for NEET i ended up developing a system which got me through the preparation and helped me score well in the exam. I got 839 marks out of 1200, with a rank of 1299, which isn't that amazing in of itself, but it was way beyond i had ever expected. And there must be many of you in the same boat. There must be some of you who have the potential and just need some direction or a little push towards the right direction.
This is not a step by step guide to scoring higher marks, rather the story of my own journey through the prep, the things i learnt, the mistakes i made, and the challenges i overcame.
People say you can achieve anything with hard work. Can you really though? Can it really be done through sheer hard work and planning, was the question i had. I was competing with people much smarter, hard working and dedicated students across the country. I'm sure many of you feel this way.
Part 2: Entering the prep
Entering the prep, i was vastly underprepared as compared to my colleagues.
I had several important realizations before entering the preparation, which played a vital role in how it turned out. It's important that you pause and take some time to truly understand these things and ingrain it in your brain.
First, understand how big a task NEET really is. The sheer scale of it should humble you. You cannot underestimate the exam or overestimate yourself. If you approach the exam with a slightest bit of casual attitude, you don't truly deserve a great outcome. It's a competitive exam. For every mistake of yours there are thousands waiting to surpass you.
Second, the exam demands your complete attention and dedication. Anything else going on in your life must take a lower priority. Preparation and studying should be of utmost importance. That is the mindset you are going to need while entering the prep.
What many of us end up doing, is that we enter the preparation with a more relaxed mindset and think that eventually we'll get more serious. “There's an entire year to study i don't want to burn myself out”. The entire prep phase has three phases, the beginning, the middle and the end. Each has it’s own set of challenges that we need to overcome.
Third, we need to aim high. No matter who you were up to this point, no matter what you expect from yourself, if you want to succeed in the exam you must have a clear vision to do whatever it takes to succeed and aim higher than you expect.
Part 3: The beginning, the middle and the end
While preparing for any major exam, there are three key factors that govern the momentum and impact of our studies. These are:
  1. Information retained, which forms your overall accumulated knowledge about the subject which you can recall on the day of the exam.
  2. Backlog represents your pacing and how much you’re lagging behind. Backlog tends to build up exponentially, so we need a strategy to manage backlog more effectively.
  3. And the burnout, which directly governs your momentum and retention. Motivation can prevent or reduce burnout.
The entire prep phase can be divided into three major phases. Entering each of these you will be at a different level of information retained, backlog and burnout. A combination of these will govern your momentum.
In the beginning we’re at level zero, or that’s what we’ll assume here. No retained info, but also no backlog or burnout.
Many enter the prep with a more relaxed attitude, thinking they do not want to burn themselves out. But that can lead to buildup of backlog. And once backlog starts it accumulates exponentially.
Also it’s highly unlikely to get serious in the middle phase. Once get used to a relaxed lifestyle in the beginning, it almost always get too late until you ‘get serious’.
In the end phase it’s relatively easier to build momentum as the exam gets closer. So most end up studying well in the third phase irrespective of whether they got serious since the beginning or the middle.
Which is why we need to enter the prep with our full attention and dedication. This can give you a great boost among many of your peers. It’s a competitive exam, to move ahead of others, you need to do everything where most others might cut some slack.
Build enough momentum in the beginning and it will carry you through the middle, the most difficult phase to get through. The middle is the time when we have covered enough subjects to get a real idea of how big the entire syllabus is, how much you already have to read and retain and how much is yet to come. It can be a scary realization. And you balance of your knowledge (retained info), backlog and burnout will decide how you tackle the middle.
Do well in the first third and you will survive the middle. This is a time where many who started well at the beginning start falling behind, likely due to burnout or lack of motivation.
Try to read and retain too much info for a long enough period of time can lead to burnout and slow you down. Read too little and backlog increases which will further suppress you down in the future.
Part 4: Backlog
Backlog is bound to happen. It’s possible to have some control over it.
First, the obvious thing to do is to try to keep backlog as less as possible during the first read itself. It means try to go through the entire topics during the first read itself. It will require extra time, extra work at times. But keeping backlog to a minimal at the beginning is vital.
Second, keeping track of any topic that you skip during the first read, write it down at a common place, which we’ll call ‘The list of Backlogs’. Keep a visual track of every topic you have skipped to read in the future. This way all the accumulated backlogs won’t to a void which you forget and eventually discover during your revisions. It will keep you in check. And if you’re ever confused what topic to study, or sometimes if you have just a small window of time to read a small topic, you can visit your backlogs.
Part 5: The art of note taking
A clear concise and clean notes is easier to read, revise and retain. I used to put conscious efforts into keeping my notes interesting. Diagrams, highlighters, sticky notes, use whatever it takes to help that one extra piece of information leave an impression which it wouldn’t have otherwise.
Here are few tips that helped me make good notes:
  1. Keep it as neat and clean as possible. Leave ample spaces to add things later on. And do not underestimate the amount of things you’ll have to add eventually. Leaving more space beforehand lets you add the new stuff in a neat and systematic manner.
  2. Use multiple colored pens: at least one primary and a secondary color. The secondary color should only be used to highlight key information which you’d like to glance through. It’s not important to use secondary colors to write headings as they do not contribute to the ‘key info’ which you would want to glance through.
  3. Neat, simple diagrams. Be creative with your diagrams. It’s okay to make it funny or add extra details in the diagrams to make it easier to remember.
  4. Summarize pages in a box: for certain pages where you can summarize longer concepts or key info in a separate box to make easier to glance through. Remember, one of the main goals while first writing the notes should be to make it easier to revise later on.
Part 6: Short and long term planning and strategy
Every single night write down a list of topics that you hope to cover the next day. I used to write it down on a sticky note and stick it in front of the study table. This way you progress in a more systematic manner, have a clear idea of what you’re supposed to do that day instead of wondering and wasting time over it.
Always have a clear vision of what your current day, the next day, the current week, and how the next few month are going to be like. How many days you are going to give to a certain subject or topic. All should be visually charted on a planner which should be easily accessible, for example on the wall next to your study table.
Part 7: Approaching the MCQs
I developed a hyper focused approach to solving MCQs. I made sure to attempt every single MCQ that i would ever come across with utmost sincerity and attention. It does not matter whether you’d read the particular topic. As long as there’s anything familiar in the question or the answer choices, try to use all logic and everything you can think of in order to rule out at least two of the options. Make a final guess, preferably write down the option to commit to the answer. And then check the answer key.
The point is to make this entire journey of solving a single MCQ an active effort rather than passively checking the answer key. Whenever you guess a wrong answer, which you will of course many many times, it should leave a tiny impression on you.
The purpose of this is to develop an ability to make an educated guess.
Many of the questions in an exam are solved by critical thinking, ruling out the least probable answers, and making a highly educated guess about the correct answer.
Solving MCQs is a game in of itself. It’s more about ruling out the less probable answers than about ‘knowing’ the answer to every question.
Part 8: Keep the body healthy and mind sharp
These are basic advice which people should keep in mind. Eat healthy. Get enough sleep, etc. Time is precious, try not to fall sick.
Take supplements like multivitamins.
Adding more antioxidants in your diet helps keep the mind sharp.
Try your best to stop smoking or reduce it as much as possible. Smoking greatly affects your focus and retention.
Try keep some form of exercise in your routine. It’s not possible for all of us to workout or go to the gym. This exercise can be anything minimal such a a good 10-15 mins of stretching, yoga, jogging, running etc. Any form of exercise is better than no exercise at all.
I used to use ample amounts of coffee, as it helped me focus better. It’s okay to use anything which genuinely helps you focus.
Caffeine combined with L-theanine worked wonders in maintaining focus.
Let me know if you'd like me to continue or expand upon this.

2024.06.10 19:00 No_Coat1155 Friend / Business Partner Ghosted after investment

Intro
I'm 33 and into cars. As part of that hobby/passion my friends and I would lean on our buddy George to help us with builds. George is a master mechanic for euro cars and owns a performance shop. There you can get your car modified, purchase parts, etc. The brand itself has existed for 20 years almost but it only came under George's ownership 7 years ago. The brand itself used to have an amazing reputation for high quality USA-made parts and is considered an "OG" in the space. It fell off when the business moved across the country. For a long time, we would always talk about bringing the brand back to its roots, focused on car culture and the love of the community. We had a special group of some amazing builds, some 100k+, and our individual social media pages were continuing to grow fast. Myself and the other people in this circle would tag our cars and always speak praise because we thought the brand represented a family.
Investment
In November 2022, George approached me and asked if I wanted to become a co-owner. Of course I was excited because this was my chance to really build something with my friends and escape the corporate rat race. Some background there, I work in the tech industry. I make a good living and have a great work life balance. We talked it over and the original "plan" was to give me a percentage of the company, have me run all socials / events / marketing / sales and George would strictly handle the mechanic projects.
We met over dinner and George didn't have an official document or anything. The agreement was he would figure out what the percentage of the company I was going to own. The initial investment was $8500 to catch up on back-rent for the performance shop. There was an unofficial agreement that I would cover events (registration fees, marketing costs) and we were off to the races. I think the excitement caught me up and in the beginning moment, I said take the time you need to figure out legally what we have to sign. Mistake #1 maybe?
Over the course of a year, we attended some of the biggest gatherings around our brand scene. Florida, Los Angeles, Las Vegas. As a group, we attended these events, build organic hype around our brand and even rented out a race circuit in NJ for the day. We created team gear, hats / shirts / jackets and quickly sold out / gave them away. Momentum was at an all time high in 2023 and we just keep pushing. These costs were roughly $10,000 throughout the year and includes everything from gas, hotels, car rentals, marketing costs, etc. Now I don't consider all of this investment money as I'm sure if George had the choice, he wouldn't have done it. I didn't include costs I incurred to ship the cars but basic items like registrations should be split responsibilities. At the least, the team reaped the benefits.
Last "investment" separate from the company was I let George borrow 20k to purchase the company SUV out of lease. It was a pre-covid deal so there was equity left on the table if he just returned the lease. This was simply a loan to be paid back in full and he could keep the equity difference. It didn't matter to me about whatever profit because I was just doing my friend a favor. George made an additional 5k from the lease after it sold. It took months for him to list it (he never did) but I eventually found a buyer and urged him to make the sale bc I started to sense he was not gonna pay me back.
Not for nothing, as part of our agreement - George would work on our shop cars with priority. This helped us have top notch projects to display at our events and with social media content. I considered this investment from him at full retail value for the jobs on my cars, totaling roughly 5k in 2023.
Arising Issues
First few months of our partnership were good. Lots of questions from my end. I manage software projects so from my perspective, there wasn't much confusion - just clarity needed on how things operate at a shop / automotive business. But as time went on, things began to get difficult.
Present State
We started 2024 basically saying we need to hit a reset and handle this stuff that has been pending. Ownership on paper, website build / email monitoring, inventory tracking - I have basically begged to help with any of this stuff as he simply wasn't doing it. And throughout 2024, the brand has essentially nuked itself out of existence bc we're simply not doing anything. We've done 1 event where he couldn't even go and I flew to FL and ran it myself. We have 1 or 2 more big things planned but any discussions about planning have paused.
Recently heard from a friend, George wants to maybe sell the company. He left is other side job and wants to get a professional corporate job and make his way out of the automotive space. Now none of this is confirmed and I haven't heard anything so not putting too much stock into it. This revelation led me to text him and ask what's going on? I laid out options like I'd take over just the parts business and he can have first right to jobs I bring in. I also said he can just give me my percentage and if the company sells, at least its not all for nothing.
As of today, completed ghosted. 1 text saying nothing over 1 month and I've nicely and politely reached out trying to talk with him a few times.
I just don't know how to feel or what to do. This is one of my greatest friends. Someone who has been through life the past 5-6 years and always someone I've relied on. Over the past like 8-9 months, shit is different. It's almost like he wanted me to invest but didn't realize I was serious? And now with him ghosted / ignoring me (I see him on his phone doing other shit, I'm not actively seeking it out - we're just in the same social circles sometimes).
I feel so disrespected. I put my life on hold for over a year because I believed so deeply in what we were doing. I mean I literally said stuff like I don't need any of your profit for the first year - just build it up together with me. I make a lot of money already; it was never about that. In total, I invested / brought in almost 40k worth of work / sales for him. Never asked for a cent.
I feel embarrassed for trusting someone so much. I feel angry because I don't deserve to be wronged when this whole time, I've stuck my neck out for him.
My wife, my parents, my friends - no one really understood it. They just saw boys playing with cars but we were actually building something. On the precipice of greatness. Our social medias were getting hundreds of thousands of impressions, our brand was seen as the cool guys in the scene, and we had made relationships with literally every single head of big companies in the space. I say we but honestly it was mostly my socials and my efforts. I am not diminishing his work but he was working on the cars (when available) and I was playing the politics and managing the image.
I'm honestly just really sad.
Options
I feel like I have no options here.
So on one hand, I want to go nuclear. I'm so hurt I want to tell the world and make him feel what I feel. On the other, I don't want to look stupid and if that is at the expense of me..so be it. He's also my friend, or I thought he was... so maybe he knows what he did and can't face it. As of right now, I haven't done anything. Continuing my online presence as if nothing has happened. I don't want to keep lying to myself. I hate who I am becoming when I get consumed with the stress of it all. Either way, I lose something and it is one of the hardest situations I've had to face. I've driven thousands of miles to and from, I've sweat, I've defended, I've cried... I've given everything to this idea and I'm watching it dissipate in real time. What do I do? Where do I even begin?

2024.06.10 18:58 BruiseVein Sharing my journey through NEET PG prep and how i scored well in the exam.

Hello everyone. I want to share my journey through NEET PG preparations 4 years ago.
Throughout MBBS i was an average student.

But with that here's my situation right now:
Freshman and Soph year I was doing very well - 4.0, clubs, normal life
Junior year - last year, I was doing fine until Oct. when my life turned upside down in the matter of a night and basically, both of my parents had to go to india to take care of my grandparents (the part of india we were in had terrible healthcare options) since my grandmother got a stroke (she was taking care of my grandpa all that time before) and my grandpa was dealing with lung cancer and bedrest, so i had to live on my own for the first time and the adjustment was def hard and it affected my schooling - mostly due to the increased responsibilites, but also i was lowkey depressed cus my grandparents meant a lot to me. my grades got worse, but they were still decent ish (like 3.85 at the end of that semester). the second semester i had learned to adjust a bit, and my grades were stellar until mid march, my grandpa passed away and then 27 days later my grandmother passed. i was definitely devestated and i felt lost and isolated. i stopped contacting all my friends, barley talked to anyone, and stopped engaging in class, i was def hurting. my parents came back late may and i have been going to therapy and my life is def much better now with them back, and i have found solace from this terrible past few months.

2024.06.10 18:52 Alawi27 Joe and 'Dexter' themes

I suspect the show is inspired by Dexter, to some degree. Love even namedrops the show in Season 2.
In Season 7, Episode 7 of Dexter, 'Chemistry', a character tells Dexter that she poisoned her husband because she was going to leave her for matters relating to pregnancy. The character used aconite.
Love used aconite to poison her husband(s) to death (albeit unintentionally) for matters relating to pregnancy.
In the series finale of Dexter, Dexter gives his son to a different parent.
Joe does just that in the Season 3 finale.
The series finale of Dexter had him realising just how toxic he is and living in anonymity as an emotionally crushed man. The sequel of Dexter has another realisation of what a monster he is by recalling the innocent lives he has destroyed and beckons his son to kill him.
Depending on how the show treats Joe, and I have to believe that they are taking Penn Badgley's assertions against Joe seriously (as Badgley only agreed to the role after being assured that the intention isn't to idealise stalking behaviour), Joe may:

2024.06.10 18:50 oumuamua21 Project review: $BENJI the Base dog

Project review: $BENJI the Base dog
Hi all and thank you for reading. I will cover my second project on this base series of post about decent projects in the range between 1M to 100M. Do not think that a project at 200k will perform better that another at 70M because a lot of projects doesn’t even get to the 1M$. And yes, a project sitting at 70M can run to 700M on a matter of weeks. At the DEFI space we need to start zooming out and seeing that a 3x 5x and 10x are insane gains and yes this is the best place to reach them. That is why I will review as much as projects as I can to have a bigger idea of the market. Let us get it: here we have BENJI.
https://preview.redd.it/fylrjkbkxr5d1.png?width=307&format=png&auto=webp&s=b0705f445b8b4a51cb4b2f2b8aff4eaeef47d9cc
· Name: Basenji
· Ticker: $BENJI
· MC at the time of the post: $85.5M
· Holders: 79,870 holders at the time of the post
· Status: ContractRevoked and LP burnt
· Contract: 0x9a26F5433671751C3276a065f57e5a02D2817973
Dexscreener description: Meet Basenji, the oldest dog breed in history, born to live on the Base Chain. The dog of Base.
From the BENJI website: The Basenji's history in Ancient Egypt dates back thousands of years, where they were revered as companions to pharaohs and depicted in ancient hieroglyphics. Known for their intelligence and hunting prowess, Basenjis were prized for their ability to assist in tracking and capturing game in the Egyptian desert.
History:
Benji dropped at the end of March and went to 60M MC at the April 8th. Coinciding with the BTC prehalving drop and Israel FUD it dumped hard till the accumulation are that found around the 10-13M. There it traded flat having a spike at May 22 reaching the 20M anyway the price couldn’t keep the momentum and went back below 10M. Yesterday it spiked till 80M MC. The price looks capable to get the momentum especially if the market conditions keep good with BTC making new highs we will see how it performs in the future.
https://preview.redd.it/4bvd7ydjxr5d1.png?width=886&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9449ab5f19cff8287909327a5920981134082dc
They have 11.5k followers on X and a lot of animated content. The project is alive on social media. The X interactions are also organic. On tg they have 6200 members and have interacted and answered my questions very fast, so good point here. People are very bullish on Tg. After asking about any specific news that could drove the price that hard everybody coincides that price follows hard work from the team. The website looks clean and professional.
Holders distribution: It's a pretty sound distribution considering the top wallets own no more than 1.5% of the token. However, we never know how this is really distributed, and a deep analysis should be taken. The top 100 holders collectively own 53.52% of Basenji
https://preview.redd.it/innmt5gixr5d1.png?width=886&format=png&auto=webp&s=381951fd9d2436f5c659e87d3c3d105f38cd6de4
Listings: They have listings on the following CEXes
https://preview.redd.it/irbq6ichxr5d1.png?width=886&format=png&auto=webp&s=3daef5961414b75014f24e35bb7684eb561493c0
Where lies the value of this project? In my opinion, the core value here is that this is a very professional project backed with developers and entertainment utilities. The team are making listings and partnerships with other projects. Also, they are very active on social media with their own art. The project can survive and go further is if the narrative keeps.
They have also developed a tamagochi a web based game which you can use on their website without needing to hold any tokens.
They claim that they are the dog of BASE which speaks itself. We have DOGE, SHIB, BONK, WIF, etc. Benji can join the meta.
Seeing all of this I think that this is a project that can keep adding Millions but maybe after the spike we’ve seen is not the best timing to jump in now. Again, not financial advice, this is only a fundamental review.

2024.06.10 18:40 BruiseVein Sharing my journey through NEET PG prep and how i scored well in the exam.

Hello everyone. I want to share my journey through NEET PG preparations 4 years ago.
Throughout MBBS i was an average student.

2024.06.10 18:37 Temporary_Noise_4014 RenovoRx's TAMP Platform Revolutionizes Cancer Therapy (Nasdaq: RNXT)

RenovoRx's TAMP Platform Revolutionizes Cancer Therapy (Nasdaq: RNXT)
(“RenovoRx” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: RNXT), is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel precision oncology therapies based on a local drug-delivery platform.

https://preview.redd.it/gnrggan9vr5d1.png?width=325&format=png&auto=webp&s=c78658c98b6f34c2e93edf88531c278fd7d072f8
Recently, the Company announced the publication of pre-clinical studies supporting the efficacy and drug delivery mechanism of RenovoRx’s Trans-Arterial Micro-Perfusion (“TAMP“) therapy platform.
Understand I’ll stay out of the weeds, which is a risk on therapeutic info pieces. The facts are enough to convince investors to give RNXT consideration.
Corporate Presentation for those who can’t wait to the end.

Oncology=Science of Cancer. One can never have too much information about this scourge, which thankfully is responding positively- but still rising– to new therapies and those in the pipeline with the promise of further saved and extended lives.
The 10 deadliest cancers
  • Pancreatic cancer.
  • Liver cancer and intrahepatic bile duct cancer.
  • Esophageal cancer.
  • Lung cancer and bronchus cancer.
  • Acute myeloid leukemia.
  • Brain cancer and other nervous system cancer.
  • Stomach cancer.
  • Ovarian cancer.

In the case of RNXT let’s chat about the Company’s TAMP platform and, one of the deadliest of all cancers, Pancreatic. This type of cancer is the most advanced product development.
**“**Currently, most cancer patients with solid tumors receive chemotherapy intravenously, meaning it is introduced systemically into the entire body and causes well known adverse side effects. RenovoRx’s patented TAMP therapy platform is designed to bypass traditional systemic delivery methods and provide precise delivery to bathe the target solid tumor in chemotherapy. This precise delivery also creates the potential to minimize a therapy’s systemic toxicities” (PR MAY 21/24 ).
“TAMP has the potential to provide a valuable treatment option to patients who have been diagnosed with solid tumors that may be difficult-to-treat,” said Dr. Farsad. “The study shows a possible mechanism for how TAMP can increase local therapeutic tissue concentration in solid tumors that is independent from traditional catheter-directed therapy. We are awaiting final outcomes of the Phase III clinical trial, currently underway, to validate this benefit.”
Dr. Farsad adds, “This platform has the potential to extend across a variety of unmet needs for localized therapeutic drug delivery.”
While this may seem esoteric to the average investor, it really isn’t. RNXT has developed a delivery system that focuses therapies such as chemo directly to the tumour rather than ‘bathe’ the area. And apparently can be used for other ‘localised’ drug therapy. The TAMP system also limits or eliminates targeting non areas that have no need of therapy.

https://preview.redd.it/skc3wwidvr5d1.png?width=1264&format=png&auto=webp&s=99f5f6d7773382c329630fe23d6f24dc36bd8f7d
Here are the stages of the Company’s product development pipeline. Of equal interest is the granting RNXT’s FDA Orphan Drug Designation granted to RenovoGemTM in pancreatic and bile duct cancers. Over the last 10 years only 3 drugs have been approved for pancreatic cancer treatment. They increase toxicity and add two months on average to patient lifespan. RNXT feels its RenovoGEM ™ doubles the added lifespan and markedly reduces toxicity. Let’s review Orphan Drug designation;
A status given to certain drugs called orphan drugs, which show promise in the treatment, prevention, or diagnosis of orphan diseases. An orphan disease is a rare disease or condition that affects fewer than 200,000 people in the United States. Orphan diseases are often serious or life threatening. In 1983, the U.S. government passed a law, called the Orphan Drug Act, to give drug companies certain financial benefits for developing orphan drugs. This law is meant to help bring more drugs to patients with rare diseases”. (NCI)
RenovoGem ™ received FDA Orphan Drug Designation for pancreatic cancer and bile duct cancer, which provides 7 years of market exclusivity upon NDA approval.
One final point to RNXT’s development and study of TIGer-Pac, which addresses the fact that pancreatic tumours have low blood supply. The study is evaluating trans-arterial delivery, a form of intra-arterial administration, of an FDA- approved chemotherapy, gemcitabine, to treat LAPC (Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer) patients.
following stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). The study is comparing treatment of gemcitabine with TAMP versus systemic IV administration of gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel.
The Bottom Line.
For those who don’t know how a toaster works, RNXT may seem daunting. For those who have or knows someone who is suffering or passed from pancreatic cancer or other types, the Company is extremely relevant. While RNXT looks to improve the lives of people with various serious cancers, the attack on pancreatic is the most compelling asset IMHO. A few extra months may seem short, but coupled with lower toxicity, represent a God-send to sufferers and their families. Arguably, as well, partnerships and acquisitions are alive and well in the pharmaceutical space.
Take a few minutes to learn about RenovoRx™ and its progress. One successful therapy a big Company (can) make.

2024.06.10 18:37 stay_true_to_you Any ADHD moms with [maybe-probably] ADHD toddlers?

ADHD mom here with a clearly neurospicy toddler. Needing some support, even just a shoulder, because I feel pretty alone.
Last week, we had an assessment with a development pediatrician for my 3 year old son. She acknowledged that it was too early for a firm diagnosis (the overlap between normal toddler behavior and ADHD behavior is basically a perfect circle), but my son clearly has issues with focus, listening to directions, making transitions, and regulating his emotions appropriately for his age. When we reviewed our medical history, my own struggles with ADHD came up. And while she was kind and curious, it definitely stirred up some old trauma in me.
I myself went undiagnosed as a little girl. I had an IEP but was also sent to the dreaded "enrichment" program for smart kids. I was the classic girl ADHD-haver: not outwardly hyperactive but a huge lack of executive functioning, couldn't hand in assignments on time, couldn't take tests, locker so messy I got detention. I was depressed and high-strung and highly sensitive. My mother (a sociologist, if you can believe it) and father are very religious and did not approve of secular psychological treatment, medication, anything. There was a lot of behavioral modification, not a ton of mental health support. I really struggled as a kid. It wasn't until college that I finally had access to medication and therapy. Like many (most?) of us, I had internalized significant self-hatred in the interim. The usual ... I'm stupid, I'm lazy, what's wrong with me, etc.
My whole upbringing made me doubt I'd even want kids, but my now-husband and I got pregnant a few years ago and had our boy. And everyone thinks their kid is amazing, but this kid is just so amazing. He's vibrant and active and social and sensitive and loving and so, so kind. Even at two years old, he was going up to his classmates and offering hugs and saying "It's OK." Basically a lovely kid. But the signs of ADHD are already there.
He was a preemie, has been behind on verbal skills his whole life, was the last to walk, the last to potty train. He can't sit still in daycare, for book time, a meal, can barely sit through a bath. It's like he's wired to the max. He's extremely physical and sensation seeking -- will fling himself around the room, jump off furniture into midair, fearless with no chill. While his classmates are able to sit through reading hour or lunch or music class, he just can't. He doesn't listen. He's not defiant, but you can see how frustrated he gets when he has to sit still. And I think he overwhelms his classmates.
We are working on it with the developmental pediatrician, an occupational therapist, and a speech therapist. This daycare is supportive. For now. But I just can't shake this feeling of dread. I know what is coming for him ... difficulty at school, difficulty socializing with peers, a propensity for depression and anxiety. A world of strivers and doers that expects him to be able to sit at a desk and evaluates him on his test scores. I know I'll do a better job than my parents -- basically a loaf of bread could do a better job than my parents -- but I still worry that I will exert the same pressure and expectations, and he'll be miserable.
And second, I can't help feeling guilty. My stupid brain chemistry and genetics got passed down. It feels pretty selfish, knowing how hard an ADHD childhood can be, and then going off and having a kid who is likely to have it too.
And last ... I am so fucking tired. Being a mom with ADHD is just a series of struggles. Even at my best, the sheer mental load of remembering to pack snacks and lunches, sign forms, schedule doctor appointments ... plus have a full-time, high-stress, high-responsibility job ... plus share all the duties of home upkeep with an admittedly great partner ... and be a good spouse ... by nighttime, I am so exhausted and overstimulated. I want to be present for my kiddo but his needs are just so high, and I am tapped out. So now I feel guilty and overstimulated, too. Nothing worse than wanting to do right by someone but just feeling like you don't have the energy or executive functioning to do it.
Anyway. Just needed to get it out somewhere. Would be amazing to know there are other moms out there like me. Either ones in the shit now, or ones who have made it through.

2024.06.10 18:34 X_Mimikyu_X Issues with Medical Records and ABCP

I've been in the army almost 5 years (July). I've obviously been aware of the ABCP standard and how it's an individuals responsibility. Basically, back in 2023 January, I had to have surgery for a condition that was caused by my hormones (Testosterone). I recovered well but, I had to have blood work before.
For some reason at the time, my hormones were tanking and we didn't have a reason why (I was a physically active male). I got my last blood work for Testosterone panel updated on Genesis portal in 2022. That was the last time they did an hormone panel for me or even updated me. This was November of 2022, so two months prior to my surgery. My Testosterone was at 305ng/dl. Everything over the last 2 years regardless had been hard. I recover slower, I'm always tired. I don't feel like I have the strength. Severely easy weight gain, mild Gyno.
Ontop of that, I've also had it documented that I have obstructive sleep disorder and my ENT believes it may actually be full Sleep Apnea. I get awoken 28.7 times an hour from deep sleep. Everything is difficult for me regardless of how much sleep I get.
I've asked the provider to either in person update me with my testosterone records if there's anything new, and she refuses to let me even glance at her computer whether she had the results or not regarding my own bloodwork I did being enrolled into ABCP, so either she did a hormone panel or not...
I felt like something was off and paid money to get my blood work done off post and came back that I have lower testosterone at 260ng/dl which is far below the LOW range for males. I've been far more increasingly active and shit ain't changing.
I've had my career stunted in terms of promotions and schools because I've been enrolled in ABCP since January after a hue of shit I dealt with before. Every month they just tell me to work harder and stop bullshitting.
Is there anything in the regulation that can help me get off ABCP? My only knowledge is AR 600-9, Chapter 3-11. But it seems like I'd still be on it. I've heard of other people having similar issues and getting knocked clean off of it and get clinical help.
This is an already embarrassing subject, just looking for some guidance here.
I have a phone call with the provider in 2 days just to MENTION it, lord knows if I'd even get help and then when that'd even start.
EDIT:1
TLDR: Enrolled in ABCP. Messed up testosterone since documented in 2022. My medical records for testosterone haven't been updated for years, even with doing a physical for ABCP enrollment. Did off post bloodwork and it showed it's even lower, infact. Asking if there's anything I can use in my defense to get off ABCP while I either deal with this with or without clinical help. We all know the army medical line is slow as fuck. I'm a fairly active male on a daily bases as well.
Edit 2: I'm by far the most active on ABCP, everyone else enrolled is massive, quite literally and they go home and become a rock. Eat pizza and pray on their weight loss pills. I actively go outside and run miles and make sure I have my steps in for the day and do weekly rucks and long runs while actually calorie counting and making sure I'm eating healthy. All to no avail.

2024.06.10 18:33 ibuyofficefurniture Joshua's Office Chairs Manifesto and The Mega Chair Thread #4

Joshua's OfficeChairs Manifesto (and the mega chair thread #4)
Office chairs are not going to solve your problems.
Whether we were created by an all-powerful designer to live in a now lost paradisiacal garden or descended from chimpanzees foraging for our livelihoods on the forests and the savannah, our bodies and our brains are not well suited for sitting and staring at computer screens. We are better equipped for walking, climbing, playing, collecting, observing, socializing, loving, caring, and resting. Basically we are meant to do the same things other mammals do.
Sitting in any office chair looking at any monitor for a quarter or a third of our life is inherently unhealthy and unnatural behavior.
The chairs we discuss and the machines we use while sitting on them are antithetical to what our bodies are best suited to be doing. Sitting stagnant looking at a backlit pane of glass and softly making repetitive motions with a keyboard and a mouse is not a healthy behavior and is not a neutral behavior; it will eventually cause negative effects on our bodies.
The pain (some of) you are experiencing related to sitting at your desk is very real. The chair you are using and the way you have it adjusted is probably a contributing factor to your discomfort. But lifestyle factors like exercise, weight, and the total number of minutes you are sedentary is going to be way more important than the precise chair you are using.
We (redditors) live in a time, place, and an economy that causes many of us to spend far too much time sitting and looking at screens and then when we stop working, many of us are fascinated by the entertainment industries that make captivating content for us to watch and play. All of this leads to many of us sitting for upwards of 50 hours a week in an unnatural posture while boring our eyes by looking at a flat screen.
If you get nothing else from this office chairs sub, please remember that you should do whatever is in your power to limit the total number of minutes and the total duration of each period of time that you are sitting looking at a computer screen sitting on an office chair in each week. It will almost certainly enhance your health. (same goes for collapsing on a couch and watching a big screen but that is further from the purview of this particular sub)
How to use this sub: In the last year, we have had about 20 people a day posting on this sub with loads of questions and comments. Often the post is something like "Chair recommendations under $200" or "What chair should I buy". While a question has been asked and answered hundreds of times, you will not get too many replies to your post.
Use the search bar to find commonly answered questions. Start with this mega thread (once it has a few Q and As in another month or so from publishing) and also take a look back to mega thread 1, mega thread 2 and mega thread 3 (which we are now locking with over 1300 comments) .
We love "what chair is this" type questions, but you can also start with a google image search if you have a good photo.
What chairs do we like?
We (mod team) are all biased towards the big shops. Steelcase and Herman Miller are in a class by themselves. Haworth, Humanscale, Knoll, Global and their ilk are close behind in that first tier.
Within these manufacturers, there are some brands that are better and some that are less good.
The Herman Miller Aeron is one of the most sought after brands of task chairs—and for most people who try it, they love it.
Steelcase Leap (v2) is also incredibly popular among the people who try it.
Some of the excellent chairs that often are frequently mentioned here:
Allsteel Acuity
Global G20
Haworth Fern
Haworth Zody
Haworth improv
Herman Miller Celle
Herman Miller Embody
Herman Miller Mira
Herman Miller Sayl
Steelcase Amia
Steelcase Criterion (managers version is better)
Steelcase Series 2
Steelcase Think
Steelcase Karman
Knoll Generation
Knoll Life (meh sometimes - love sometimes)
Knoll RPM (ok, old AF and discontinued, and maybe it's just me, but that is still a fav)
Examples of other great manufacturers: 9to5 Seating, AIS, Allseating, Keilhauer, OFS, Raynor, Sit On It & Via.
Buying New
If you have an office chair budget of $1500-2000 USD, this is an easy purchase. Most of the big shops have decades long warranty service. Many offer no cost or low cost return if you don't like something. You also get the newest version with the newest features and many chairs can be customized to your size and design specifications.
Buying Used
For everyone else, professional grade chairs cost a bloody fortune. At the time I write this, DWR is selling a new Herman Miller Aeron for $1800USD and Steelcase is selling their new Gesture for a few bucks more than that.
The majors also have more budget lines like Steelcase Series one for about $500 or the Amia for under $1000, but you get the idea, professional grade is not cheap.
There is an entire industry of people like me who do nothing but trade used office furniture and, at least in the US, we are in every major market and plenty of small cities as well. There are also a good collection of national refurbishers who take used office chairs and re-sell them, having chairs cleaned, repaired and in some cases completely remanufactured all together. (Companies like Madison Seating, OFR, Furniture Center, Office Logix, BTOD and Crandall.) You can also find folks like myself in every major city who are not fully refurbishing chairs, but selling good as-is-able chairs at a fair discount to the refurbed price or fixing up little things before shipping out an "as-is" chair.
Folks from this sub have also had good luck finding great deals on FB marketplace, Craigslist and local thrift stores where sometimes great chairs go for super cheap.
What about just the $99 chair? Or the special one from a big Sweed box store? or what about Jeff B's online crap boutique? Which of the cheap ones is the best?
IDK, none but also some are fine, kind of.... I personally used a chair from Officestar called the 5500 for years. When I was in my mid 20s it was fine, it was great. I know there are people that love the marcus or the workpros and I know there are folks sitting on the $99 special.
My bias is going to be towards the pro-grade chairs, but we will make an effort this year to share with this sub to highlight better chairs from the cheaper (RTA) categories.
The problem with most of the cheap RTA is that often design and materiality is sacrificed for cost. The other issue is the product that cost $99 usually has very low longevity.
That's all cool, but those are 20 different suggestions. What chair am I going to like?
Every human body is going to engage differently with every different chair. I love Leap and cannot for the life of me understand why everyone else loves their Aeron and Embody chairs. Members of the Herman Miller Aeron Club (cult?) cannot fathom using anything other than their Aeron. Even folks with similar body types are going to react differently to ergonomics, design and materiality in any given chair.
These opinions are just opinions and depending how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go, you might end up finding a DWR or Steelcase showroom in the nearest gateway city near where you live. If you ask me, Josh, I am going to say try a Leap chair or an Amia because 3/4 people take well to those brands. Maybe you are the 1/4 of folks who will hate it. If you are petite, I might mention the Humanscale Freedom and if you are large and in charge I might tell you to try a Criterion Plus or Leap Plus. But you might not find the perfect chair on your first go round. I would also suggest you temper your expectations of what a chair can do for you. If you are at your desk too much and if other lifestyle factors are not being addressed, the perfect chair will not be your solve-all.
Anything else? What is officechairsisell ?- It's kind of a social experiment I started the same year I took over this sub to separate people who want to have curated, edited, authentic non-commercial conversations and those who like to drown in ads. As of today, there are 35,000 subs here and 200 there. So jury may be still out, but early read is that people want curated and they want the spam filtered.
Some of us mods have particular views about issues, my eccentric thoughts on headrests & attached footrests for example are what I believe are almost always more harmful to you than not having one.
You will see the abbreviation RTA or RTF for furniture that comes Ready to Assemble. It's the kind of furniture that you build at home with an allen wrench. In the first instance, RTA is going to be inferior to something built into 2-3 solid components at a factory. With factory built furniture, you will find overall higher cost, better design and better longevity.
I hate top 10 lists / amazon backlinks / affiliate marketing / discount codes & also how we run this sub:
Left without moderation, this sub would quickly become my other chairs sub officechairsIsell (take a look over there. It's absolutely worthless). Any social media marketing person selling office chairs spends their time looking for places to post ads. With upwards of 35K members interested in office chairs, this is a place they target all the time. Sellers want to direct conversation, SEO magic juice, and traffic to their own websites and brands to sell more products. Fair enough. But to get around the fact that internet consumers are mostly blind to advertising, companies will either themselves or through an affiliate disseminate videos, articles, blog posts, reddit threads and most pernicious "top 10 lists" try to "influence" you to buy whatever nonsense chair they are slinging.
You should assume that virtually every link to a website that sells chairs or every discount code offered is being posted because the poster will make some profit or commission if you buy the chair they are 'recommending'. It's salesmanship dressed up as an endorsement which is inherently not trustworthy.
Every "Top 10 office chairs for 2024" -type lists I have seen appear to be put out by individuals, newspapers and companies who are looking to monetize on their "advice". Wirecutter may be the best of the pack in terms of 'Top 10 lists' and by and large, they are not great. Anytime you see some rando magazine that has a top 10 list, it will read something like Aeron, Leap, Freedom, and then, invariably, 7 so-so brands with links to junk that pays a good commission. The use of a referral fee inherently shapes the advice given to the point it would more truthfully be called advertising.
On this sub, we have become allergic to that kind of thing. We do not want a link back to an Amazon page for any reason. We do not want a link to your super cool blog post with all your awesome advice about why to buy this chair with this discount code.
If you need to say what the real experts have to say, take a look at the "Best Of Neocon" awards every summer. You will need to click through pages of office furniture, but this is what the contact office furniture industry and affiliated juries of architects and designers elevate for awards.
We are volunteer mods and we have jobs, so we might be too quick on the trigger to delete your post or comment if you are linking to anything suspicious.
Who are we? My friends u/ClassroomDecorum and u/cranda58 took over running this sub in the early days of the pandemic when no one out there wanted to talk about office furniture and we were bored with no office furniture business to do (for a very few slow weeks anyway)
David, u/cranda58, and I were already in the business of used office furniture (David runs one of the largest and—I would say—highest quality refurb shops in the country in Michigan, and I am a used office furniture liquidator in the NYC area).
u/classroomdecorum was just getting into the game from his home in Florida where he works out of the Orlando area.
u/The_Back_Store joined us from California and u/Cloud_t is our European correspondent.
u/ergothrone gave me a few excellent suggestions on this essay and is often still contributing. He has more knowledge about the budget market than the rest of us have combined.
Our friend u/Coffeebeanie24 is here from time to time, but he has become such a famous and over-caffeinated coffee influencer that he is less in the office chair state of mind lately.
You might also find the good folks from u/steelcase lurking around here. If you have a u/Steelcase type question, you can tag them and usually within a few days, one of the CSR or product specialists will get back to you.
Disclosures. I have made a few deals off of connections I've made here. Same with at least 2 of the other mods. To a large extent, our product knowledge comes from being in the business and the business that feeds our families also feeds our knowledge base.
Also, sometimes companies reach out and want our opinion about some new chair that they have. This could be u/steelcase (I am sitting on a Karman right now as I edit this note) or a newer company with an RTA chair at a lower price point. If someone sends me a chair, I will write up a bit of feedback and share that with the company. After that, solely at my discretion, I can publish those notes or reviews (always with a disclaimer) on this sub. If the notes are mostly negative, I will likely not publish, same deal with the other mods and active users here.
Closing
This note is always work in progress. Please let me know your thoughts below and I will try to get back to as many of you as I can. You can find a version of this article on my LinkedIn profile and my website.
I will try to put new discussion topics every month or so and we plan to push and have Mega thread #5 up in another year.
And now onto your questions and comments:

2024.06.10 18:33 auto556 Investor Alert: Former Pruco Broker Torian Mitchell Accused of Misappropriation

Understanding Broker Misconduct and Protecting Your Investments: A Case Study and How to Recover Your Losses

As a financial analyst and legal expert with over a decade of experience in the field, I have witnessed numerous cases where investor disputes arise due to allegations of broker misconduct. These situations can be complex and financially damaging, emphasizing the need for vigilance and expert legal help when things go wrong.
One of the recent notable cases involves Torian Mitchell, a former registered broker with Prucom Securities. Details from Mitchell’s BrokerCheck record shed light on the seriousness of the allegations and the potential repercussions for affected investors.

The Case of Torian Mitchell

BrokerCheck is a valuable resource that provides information on the professional backgrounds of brokers and firms. In the case of Torian Mitchell, the records highlighted multiple red flags that investors missed or overlooked. It serves as a stark reminder that regular reviews of brokers' records are imperative for investors.
In this specific instance, clients reported unauthorized trades and gross mismanagement of their accounts. Such activities not only breach the trust placed in brokers but also violate several regulatory standards set by authorities like the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

The Impact on Investors

The effects of broker misconduct can be devastating. Investors may see their life savings erode or their financial goals derailed. The emotional and financial stress involved in dealing with cases of broker misconduct can be overwhelming for many. This emphasizes the necessity for having adept and specialized legal representation to navigate these turbulent waters.

2024.06.10 18:32 Temporary_Noise_4014 RenovoRx's TAMP Platform Revolutionizes Cancer Therapy (Nasdaq: RNXT)

RenovoRx's TAMP Platform Revolutionizes Cancer Therapy (Nasdaq: RNXT)
(“RenovoRx” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: RNXT), is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel precision oncology therapies based on a local drug-delivery platform.

Here are the stages of the Company’s product development pipeline. Of equal interest is the granting RNXT’s FDA Orphan Drug Designation granted to RenovoGemTM in pancreatic and bile duct cancers. Over the last 10 years only 3 drugs have been approved for pancreatic cancer treatment. They increase toxicity and add two months on average to patient lifespan. RNXT feels its RenovoGEM ™ doubles the added lifespan and markedly reduces toxicity. Let’s review Orphan Drug designation;
