2024.06.09 19:17 DarthWader68 Does the Steak and Cheddar variety exist anymore?

I haven't had Hot Pockets in a while, but local grocery has the 2-packs for $2.18 this week and wanted to stock up. None of the locations had Steak and Cheddar, and even checking other stores in the area, can't find them there either. Been forced to settle for the Philly Cheesesteak, which is at least my second favorite, but where on earth are the Steak and Cheddars?

Shopping on Amazon is incredibly convenient, but all those Prime purchases can really add up. While Amazon's prices are already competitive, there are lots of easy ways to save even more money when buying online from the e-commerce giant.
From taking advantage of subscription services to utilizing browser extensions and capitalizing on sales events, these 20 tips and tricks will help you drastically cut your Amazon spending without sacrificing anything.
  1. Sign up for Amazon Prime If you shop on Amazon with any regularity, subscribing to Amazon Prime is well worth the $139 annual membership fee. With Prime, you get free 2-day shipping on millions of items plus access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, and other great benefits.
  2. Try Prime for Free First Not sure if Prime is right for you? Amazon offers a 30-day free trial so you can test it out first before fully committing. Just be sure to set a calendar reminder before the 30 days is up to avoid getting charged automatically.
  3. Get an EBT/Food Stamps Discount If you qualify for government assistance programs like SNAP EBT Food Stamps, WIC, and more, you can get an amazing discount on Prime membership - just $6.99 per month.
  4. Use the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card earns 5% back at Amazon and Whole Foods. There's also a $100 Amazon gift card bonus for signing up. Cash back is redeemed as points that cover future Amazon purchases.
  5. Score an Amazon Gift Card Bonus Adding gift cards to your account is an easy way to save money on Amazon. They frequently offer promotional credit when reloading a gift card balance, like $10 free with a $100 reload.
  6. Send Amazon eGift Cards to Earn Coins When making a purchase, choose the option to email an Amazon gift card code to yourself. For every gift card email sent, you'll get coin rewards (typically 5% of the card value) through Amazon's Coins rewards program.
  7. Earn Rewards with Amazon's Subscribe & Save Amazon's Subscribe & Save service gives you 15% off (plus free shipping) on recurring deliveries for things like household items, pet food, diapers, and vitamins. You can also earn 20% off Subscribe & Save orders that include 5 or more subscriptions in the same month.

  11. Price Match Amazon's Competition Amazon's huge product catalog means the prices are generally quite competitive. But if you do find a better deal on the same new, authentic item from a qualifying retailer, Amazon will price match it. Just use the "Product price is lower" link on the listing.
  12. Use Amazon Coupons & Promo Codes Don't forget to stack coupons and promo codes on top of Amazon's regular prices. You can find coupons that take 5-20% off a product price or get things like a free smart speaker with purchase. Just clip or enter the codes at checkout.
  13. Score Discounts with a .edu Email Address Do you or someone in your family have an active .edu email address from a university? Amazon offers exclusive discounts for students on a range of products with this email. Things like software, music, books, and Amazon Prime are cheaper.
  14. Get Amazon Wish Lists Discounts Creating an Amazon wish list (for yourself or for others) makes you eligible for occasional discount offers on those items. Amazon does this to incentivize "shopping the wish list" purchases.
  15. Use Cash Back & Rebate Sites Don't leave free cash back on the table. Browser extensions like Rakuten, CouponCabin and store cash back credit cards will earn a percentage back on all Amazon purchases. It takes no effort and the savings stack up fast.
  16. Take Advantage of Amazon Prime Day Amazon's annual Prime Day sale event in July is absolutely massive and often beats Black Friday deals. But you need an active Prime membership to access these rock-bottom prices.
  17. Try Before you Subscribe with HBO Free Trials Many Amazon services like HBO, Kindle Unlimited, and Amazon Music Unlimited offer extended 30-day free trials. Don't forget to take advantage and stack these on top of your Prime membership perks.
  18. Purchase Amazon Renewed Products Products listed as "Amazon Renewed" are refurbished and repackaged at a big discount with the same 90-day supplier warranty as new purchases. This includes smartphones, laptops, TVs, and home appliances.
  19. Use an Amazon Cash Reload Code Look out for promotions where you receive a percentage bonus when loading funds into your Amazon account balance using a reload code. These offers can drive the effective cost of purchases 5-20% lower.
  20. Browse the Amazon Outlet + "Bargain Bin" Hidden deep within Amazon are sections like the "Bargain Bin" and Amazon Outlet where you can find overstocked items, buyer remorse returns, and more at clearance pricing. Worth digging through if you're patient!
There you have it - 20 easy ways to save a ton of money the next time you shop on Amazon.com. Get strategic about combining deals, promotions, discounts and cash back rewards. Those small savings add up to keep so much more money in your pocket over time.

2024.06.09 19:17 RedditAteMyBabby 2025 EX-L question about convenience features

I traded in a 2019 LX for a 2025 EX-L yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out.
When I use remote start, the power lift gate and the auto window open features won't work. So I can't like, walk out of the grocery store, start the car and A/C, crack all of the windows, open the tailgate, and set the groceries inside. Is there a way to allow at least the lift gate after using remote start?

2024.06.09 19:15 sameed_a difference between prototype and mental framework?

I'll tell you, the moment I realized the difference between a mental framework and a prototype, it was like someone lit a bulb in my head. Imagine walking into a library for the first time. You aren't following any specific directions, nor do you have a map of the place. But you instinctively know the fiction section will be separate from the science and technology books. That's your mental framework working its charm.
Now let's bring a prototype into the picture. Your friend has published a book and has given you a copy. It has a particular size, a specific number of pages, a unique cover design. When you walk into the library now, you're looking for books that resemble your friend's - that's the prototype.
One day, I'm at the grocery store. My wife has tasked me with buying apples. Now, I know what an apple looks like, tastes like, feels like. I have a mental framework of what an apple is. So, I go to the fruit aisle, look for round, usually red or green fruits, and bingo - I've found what I'm looking for.
This one time though, she wanted this specific brand of apple cider - let's call it 'ZestyZap'. It came in a distinct green bottle, with a yellow label, and a little caricature of a dancing apple. Now, I'm looking for a prototype, a specific object that matches my mental image.
So, when you step back and look at it, a mental framework is basically a generalized mental model, a concept, whereas a prototype is a specific, tangible example of that concept.
Mental frameworks and prototypes are tools that help us navigate the world, make decisions, and simplify the complex. We use them without even realizing it, like Jedi mind tricks!
P.S. This is a hypothetical story, I'm not actually married, and I don't dance around grocery stores looking for fictitious apple cider. But who knows, maybe one day I will. Remember, life is all about the right mental models.

2024.06.09 19:14 20_weird_rabbits Hotel breakfast and dinner

I am going on a week long trip. During it I will live in the same hotel the entire week.
Problem: the hotel does not provide breakfast, however our room will have a kitchenette with a fridge, burner and a microwave.
What simple ingredients are inexpensive, available in simple grocery stores and can be made into many different dishes? Also, it would be great if they can be bought in small amounts, because the trip is only a week long.
BTW I hate eggs as a dish, however I don't mind them if I can't taste them.

2024.06.09 19:09 Deusa4da1Travessura5 Husband (26M) won’t touch grass unless I’m (23F) with him. What can I do?

I’m in the marine corps and we’re currently in different states across country. For four months I encouraged him to go outside and go for a nature walk, do something anything. He won’t even go to the gym unless I’m there. He was in the navy and says he overworked himself in the gym so it’s hard for him to get back into it at a slower pace.
Anyways I’ve offered him many ideas and activities to go do but he’d rather play video games and lay on the couch watching tv all weekend.
I should add he recently lost his grandfather who was an important figure to him. He also had a falling out with his friend group last fall and has left the party scene to be more responsible for his body and mind.
Last weekend he flew across the country to see me and we were out all day every day he was here. He complained sometimes but he had fun for the most part even when I was shopping lol. We did a lot of outdoor stuff despite the heat like strawberry picking and sightseeing.
Today is Sunday and I asked him if he wanted to go for a walk at a nearby park and he said he just wanted to relax after his busy work week. I just find it odd given he loves hiking and has expressed that a lot. Before I left for a few months we went on a few hikes. We went to the gym together. He started to go to the gym on his own when I first left but quickly retracted and stopped.
He says he’ll go to the gym with me and he doesn’t like going alone. He has a lot of ptsd and anxiety and doesn’t even like going to the grocery store for long on his own. We have a kitty so he’s not alone at home. It concerns me that such an outgoing and outdoorsy person isn’t doing what his soul craves.
In a couple of months we will be living together again but I’m concerned for future deployments or if I decide to take a trip on my own how that could affect him. I’m hoping the navy friends he has out here and the friends he makes will help him get out of the house.
Please don’t tell me I shouldn’t hold his hand so much. It’s my job as his wife to care for him, as he cares above and beyond for me. We both come from military families and understand what that ptsd looks like in all of its forms.
I feel helpless not being able to live with him right now.

2024.06.09 18:59 MarvinStolehouse Hatch Green Chile Varieties?

Ok, so, last year bought a case of hatch green chilies from the local grocery store. Roasted on site. Went with "mild" so it would be fun for the whole family.
Few weeks later picked up several pounds of fresh, unroasted "hot" hatch green chiles, and roasted them on the grill.
Froze them all, and have been making my way through the stash over the past year. Recently made my way through all the "mild" chiles and now digging into the "hot" ones. And OH MY the "hot" chiles are SO much better.
So, the question, are the chiles labeled "hot" and "mild" typically different varieties/cultivars? Or did I just buy better chiles with the "hot" ones? Is there something I did better when roasting them myself?
Making plans on what I'll be buying this season.

2024.06.09 18:55 cam52391 Grocery store boomer gave my wife and I a good laugh today

We stopped in for a few things to hold us over for the week and as we're using the self checkout a boomer lady walks up to the one next to us. She scans her first item then just stands there for a minute, then she starts yelling for the attendant. When the attendant gets over to her this boomer goes " it says put in bagging area, do I have to put it in the bagging area?" The attendant took a second to process this just absolute genius level question and replied "umm, yes". My wife and I are at this point finishing up and start laughing once we were a bit away from the sheer stupidity of the situation.

2024.06.09 18:55 AdGloomy9798 ex roommate hasn’t paid, left furniture as collateral, & now is a day away from deadline. what do I do?

i kicked my exroommate out because she hadn’t paid rent in months, & then i found out she lied to me about her entire identity. it’s important to note i’m 24f & autistic. a lot of this story is built upon the back of her lying to me? so for brevity sake im stating what I think is the most pertinent information for this. i wont get too deep into all the intricacies of the lies because they are big ones that im still unpacking in therapy, just looking for legal advice because im tapped on funds & would’ve sought an attorneys advice otherwise.
long story short, she avoided signing a lease or anything until after we moved in back in november because “life” kept getting in the way of her coming to the appointment for it. I learned my lesson here. I know I shouldn’t have let her move in without signing a sublease or getting a background check. she kept canceling our appt to get it signed, & eventually I became too overwhelmed with school & work that I forgot about it until I needed it. but I have all our financial agreement stuff in written form (text) im just not sure if that’s enough.
anyway, the apartment was in my name only. she paid sorta consistently. a day late here, a week late there. I was okay with it for the beginning because I am a student & had enough in savings from my loans to cover it in the beginning SO LONG as she paid me back. & she did. I also was working 35 hours a week on top of an 18 credit hour load, so i’m barely home save to sleep or eat. february is when she lost her job due to allegedly calling off & lying about it to her boss. (I only found that out after a coworker of hers reached out to me. my roommate was allegedly lying about me to people.) it’s important to note I didn’t know she lost her job. she didn’t tell me she got fired, instead said she was wanting to leave & was lowering her hours there while finding other work. I told her I just would like to be paid back on time & she said she would. spoiler, she didn’t.
in march we had a huge argument because she hadn’t paid me back for february rent or utilities & I had learned at that point a lot of her personal history that she had shared with me had been a lie. I looked into publicly available records about her & found out the following:
she comes clean about all of that during the confrontation in march. she cries, I cry, I thought all was getting resolved financially because she promised. (I roll my eyes now thinking about it) & she was enrolling herself in therapy. she pays me for the rent & utilities of february but not rent for march. she said she would get it to me with her next paycheck. I had some faith in her still because she was my friend or so I thought.
I also ended up enrolling in therapy shortly after this conversation bc it was traumatizing how much she lied to me.
regardless, i covered her half of rent during march & April, albeit very begrudgingly. i gave her extension after extension but started to look for another roommate during the end of april just in case she didn’t pay in may. the reason I did this is because I only had enough in savings to cover my portion of rent for june. obviously may came around & she didn’t pay, but she was able to go spend about $400 at the grocery store ?? & she also bought a new stanley cup (she had a collection & each one rubes around 48 usd) & a whole bunch of new make up, press on nails, toiletries such as shampoo & conditioner & three new candles!!
seeing her come home with all that that was my breaking point. I had been rationing off my food, my own toiletries, & my own “luxury” items just so I could afford to keep a roof over our heads.
so I found a new roommate very quickly, & got them ACTUALLY VETTED WITH BACKGROUND CHECK & CREDIT CHECK BY THE APARTMENT COMPLEX ITSELF. yes I learned from my mistake. no I will never repeat it again.
I told my ex roommate on May 6th, one week after she came home with all those new expensive items, that she needed to pay me all 3.453.35 that she owed me for rent/utilities or she would be kicked out. she asked me for an extension, she claimed she needed to May 10th to get her funds. I said no, she had already had two months & four full paycheck cycles to figure it out. she said she took out a personal loan & was waiting on it to be approved & deposited. I again reaffirmed that no, she could not stay here. I told her she had twenty minutes to pack up a bag but she needed to leave her furniture as collateral that she would pay me back. she agreed to this. all of this is in text form & I have her agreeing to it there. after she left, i told her she had thirty full days to pay me back or her items would be considered abandoned. thus, giving her an additional & final deadline. that deadline is Monday, June 10th, at 5 pm.
on June 3rd, after hearing nothing from her for weeks, she said she would pay me by the evening of the 7th. I told her that was fine, but if she didn’t pay then the original deadline of june 10th at 5 pm would still stand.
june 7th came & went. no payment. & june 10th is tomorrow. & idk what to do with her stuff or if I should give her more time?? i’m not sure how to proceed forward & wanna make sure i’m protected.
anyway, that’s the shortened version of it. any advice is welcome. I don’t need people telling me i’m stupid for the sublease thing bc I know & am well aware. I learned my lesson on that & my new roommate is on the lease & our financials are split evenly now so i’m good on that.
I just don’t know what to do with her items or even really,,,her. do I just need to suck it up, grab my credit card & get an attorney? I just dunno what to do :/ thank you in advance

2024.06.09 18:49 rainbowpotat Experience with parking permits?

For folks who are fairly mobile most of the time what was your breaking point for requesting a parking permit?
I am an occasional cane user at the moment, mostly for dizziness or occasional limb stiffness/spasticity. 95% of the time I feel fine walking from farther away but when it's hot or things are flaring parking lots (and esp garages) give me vertigo and present some challenges.
Grocery stores, etc, are fine, I can park by the cart corral and grab a cart, if I'm holding onto something I feel ok, but I'm starting grad school in the fall and am stressing about parking if I have a bad day.
Just looking for experience/advice for others here. I'm capable enough that it feels wrong to ask for a permit at this point, I don't want to use it when others have things a lot tougher and I might be taking resources from someone who needs it more. It feels like jumping the gun since I'm still ok most of the time, but I am also worried about my capacity once I start this new thing. Right now planning to just wait and see how it goes.

2024.06.09 18:43 OkDragonfruit3712 Converted my dad today!

Some context: My dad has been devoted to No Frills for the past few years. He's racked up tons of points and always thought of No Frills as being the best option in our rural area.
I've been speaking to him about the boycott for the past few months and while he supported it during May, he still wanted to keep using No Frills. Even if only occasionally.
Then today, I was reading up on a few posts discussing Giant Tiger having amazing prices (excluding Chinese grocery stores which aren't available where I live). It's crazy how much cheaper stuff is from Giant Tiger when compared to No Frills! My dad was shocked when I showed him a price comparison. $0.33 for bananas, compared to 0.66 at No Frills. $2.88 for strawberries compared to $3.99 at No Frills. Even meat items likes sausages were cheaper at Giant Tiger.
So after a moment of speechlessness, my dad said "Okay, time to cancel the points card". Loblaws just lost another loyal customer and best of all, he'll be spreading this information to his friends as well.

2024.06.09 18:42 2-tree Where is the pear flavored Jumex?

I was wondering if maybe I could get some information regarding Jumex pear juice or pear nectar. I am a gringo writing this from Texas but I have love pear flavored Jumex. I used to be able to find it at the local grocery stores here like Kroger, Tom Thumb, Walmart, but not anymore. Even my girlfriend who currently lives in Mexico in Cuernavaca, can't find it either. I have not been able to find it for about two years now.
I attend a couple of Hot Wheels collector events here in Texas and we have several people who drive from Mexico and I always ask them to bring me snacks and candy. They come from Monterrey and I have asked about four or five of them, and not a single one of them has been able to find it in the entire city of Monterrey. My girlfriend called Jumex and they told her they still sell it but it is only seasonal.
Well, recently it was pear and apple season and then I was able to find the apple, which is not easy to find either, but still no pear. In fact, I can still find apple in the imported Mexican glass bottle at Mexican grocery stores, or in the typical aluminum can that is sold in the US. So, does anyone know what happened to it? Has it been discontinued? Do they no longer manufacture it? Is it temporarily discontinued, does anyone know what happened?

2024.06.09 18:31 Level_Mango_6910 how did you feel right before a major life change?

tldr : what emotions came up for you right before making a major change in your life, or a major change that came unexpectedly?
for context i’m 20f and have been dealing with pretty severe agoraphobia and panic disorder over the past two years. agoraphobia is basically just the fear of panic attacks, which makes it very hard to function and can limit you to becoming housebound. i’ve never been 100% housebound, but i haven’t had a job, gone to school, talked to any friends, or even gone to restaurants or doctors appointments when i was at my lowest.
but, ive finally made some shifts. i started going to the gym, even by myself. i’m going to restaurants again and im scheduled to have my first neurofeedback appointment next week. and i’m going to start working at an amazon warehouse by the end of the month. definitely not my ideal job, but they don’t do interviews and im doing the flex schedule so it’s really the only job that feels doable for me right now. but it’s something, and im hoping that it’ll help push me to at some point work somewhere thats better suited for me. like maybe nannying or something outdoors.
anyways, im making very different decisions now than i have in the past two years so i know that my life will be changing to some degree. but i don’t know how permanent those decisions will be. i don’t know if ill have a traumatic panic attack at the warehouse and ill have to quit. or maybe the neurofeedback won’t work for me. but there’s a part of me that knows that somehow things will never be the same. it’s very weird though, because at moments i’ve been overcome with grief over losing the life i’ve lived over the past two years. which is absolutely insane to me because i’ve spent this entire time HATING everything about my life. i mean, i literally did nothing except stay in my house or occasionally go on walks or go to the grocery store. like i did nothing else. i never felt more lonely and depressed in my life. but now that it’s changing i actually miss it. i mean, i guess it makes sense because being in that state felt safe to me, even though i was also suffocating. i thought id be more excited.

2024.06.09 18:30 InitiativeCommon2978 Just ran into Tom at the store

I'm in Encinitas for a wedding and I'm in the bathroom at a fancy grocery store. I walk out and Tom fucking Delonge walks in after me. Later we're at checkout and I couldn't help but just shout out "Tom Blink rules!" and he just smiled and said "Thanks boss!"
He was behind me and my fiance had we walked to our car and he got into his awesome Jeep looking thing with his wife. It was so weird knowing he was right behind us as we walked to the car. Didn't get a picture cause I was too nervous sadly but yeah, nice dude.

2024.06.09 18:27 Zelgon Contacted my MP

Despite how much I think this won't amount to anything... I wrote to my MP. He's the only MP that is Green so maybe... Maybe he will respond differently. Here is my email, I will update with a response or another post if it's spicy enough.

Hello Mr. Schreiner
You may already be aware, but there is a growing Reddit community aimed at addressing Loblaws bad practices and a lot of issues have been raised that are concerning to me, and should be to you as well. As my MP, I hope you are aware of this and can stand by us, I have voted for you to represent me and my city for multiple elections now and this issue hits close to home. I've summarized some of the problems
  1. Loblaws holds a unprecedented hold on grocery real estate market, and in Guelph, from what I understand they held the land in the east (Watson road area), wasting for decades to just... Do nothing? Why don't we have laws in place that prevents companies from just buying land and then doing nothing with it? So many other companies would have used the land for business, it's a great area and it's been left there.
  2. Loblaws and I am sure other major grocery stores have been caught with inaccurate weights on their products. There are many examples of it on the Reddit page, with Canadians posting every week with more examples. We need to investigate this, and prevent it from happening in the future.
  3. Loblaws is claiming 1-2% profits and yet the mark up is sometimes 100%+ price increase. At first this looked to be a one or two incidents, but there are so many examples of this on the Reddit page I cannot even catalogue them. I implore you to see it for yourself. Please also do not forget that Loblaws was already heavily involved in a bread price fixing scandal not too long ago, we should not be taking what they say at face value.
  4. I've seen other community members reach out to their MP's and let's just say the responses have been horrific. You would think based on the responses this has something to do with the carbon tax credit. But it has nothing to do with anything political and seeing how much every MP is deferring blame to others, or trying to make this into some political problem is abhorrent. It really makes me feel like MP's don't actually represent people at all and it is just a huge waste of time and energy. I feel like we as consumers are alone in this battle against these major grocers, all the MP's are too interested in playing politics and securing their own position, rather than the people they are supposed to represent.
Mike, I voted for you because during election time, you advocated for the values I care about, and now you represent not only Guelph, but the entire green party. Please don't make your words ring hollow, please advocate for us, help us make groceries affordable again. We need to see accountability and change.
Thank you for your time, and looking forward to your response.
Kyle

2024.06.09 18:24 Ghostly_Foodie Could this too be considered "Slice of Life" type content?

Inspired by this post https://www.reddit.com/VirtualYoutubers/comments/1dbjv3a/im\_a\_slice\_of\_life\_vtuber\_does\_that\_make\_sense/
After reading everyone's opinions on what the content of a "Slice of Life" Vtuber would be I'm wondering if this could be considered too? Doing all streams and/or edited stream highlights/pre-recorded let's play vods of games themed around showing a "daily life" of the VtubePngtuber "character". Cooking stream and a cooking simulator game. Maybe the "character" works at a Grocery store so SuperMarket Simulator and other games of a similar theme. Hobby stream and a game that includes said hobby? Say a card pack opening then playing a digital version of that card game like Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel?
Made this a separate post to avoid looking self-promo-ey in the original post cause my opinion of a Slice of Life Vtuber is literally based off my own content as I'm a pngtuber doing pre-recorded let's plays with this framing. Would feel disingenuous not to disclose that fact.
