Hi all,
As an update to this post I have found the issue that caused this problem.
While a lot of people were suggesting it was wiring, it was nothing to do with that. I received a replacement globe from IKEA and had the exact same issue in different sockets around the home. After some troubleshooting, I determined that the globe will set itself to 1% brightness if you turn it off twice.
So the first time you turn it off, it would be fully off. If you turn send another turn off command, it will then set itself to 1%. Turn it off a 3rd time, it will be fully off. You see the pattern.
This happens in the following situations:
I have fixed this bug by moving all my scenes to Home Assistant scripts. I then introduced an IF condition check to see if the light is turned on, and if so only then turn the globe off. If it is already off, no action is taken.
Since doing this I have not experienced this bug once. The only downside is I can no longer ask Siri to turn off all the lights downstairs, as this will turn off lights that are already turned off and again cause the problem.
This is still just a workaround and I'm not sure what the proper fix is. I've seen mentions that perhaps it's to do with Home Assistant/Zigbee2MQTT sending both an ‘off’ attribute/state that are doubling up. But nonetheless I hope this helps someone get around this annoying bug in IKEA lights.

As an update to this post I have found the issue that caused this problem.

As title really... I've been given an IKEA Lauters floor lamp, but it has a 5 amp light plug attached and I only have regular sockets in my house. Can I just swap the wires into a regular UK plug? It only has two wires (one going into neutral, and one going in to live), but no fuse. Thanks

Die Leiste für meine Zahnbürste will ich eigentlich auch ersetzen, in Erwägung habe ich eine Mosslanda gezogen, die ist aber auch eher suboptimal. Die Lampe hat zwei E14 birnenförmigen Lampen als Leuchtmittel. Habt ihr Ideen, um diesen Spiegel und diese Lampe auszutauschen? Der Spiegel ist von den Maßen her 50cm x 40cm und die eingenommene Fläche der Lampe misst 29cm x 28cm. Habt ihr Ideeen, wie man diese ganze Bad-Combo retten kann? Vielleicht Ideen, um das ganze zu ersetzen (also Lampe+Spiegel+Leiste in einem?). Ich finde da leider nicht wirklich gute Sachen und bin bei so etwas eher aufgeschmissen. Die Höhe ab dem Waschbecken bis zum Beginn der Schräge sind circa 90cm, das Waschbecken ist etwa 60cm breit. I had the idea to make something out of paper that can function as a light diffuser, make it out of orange paper so it will have the same warm light that I bought it for. My parents currently have the following. 2 IKEA symfonisk lamps, a playbar, a sub and 2 Sonos ones as rears. After speaking with my dad a while back I thought they never used the app, only using airplay. Turns out my mom has been using the app and now has a lot of issues after the update.
First of all, not a hate thread, so if all you have to say is "f Sonos", etc, then honestly just don't bother. It's getting old, we all know there are issues, and you're not contributing. I'm happy for the discussion to blame the new app if we can do it like adults.
Now on to my question.
Airplay on their setup works fine. Also, according to my mum, the old app worked fine. With the new app however, there are issues.
When we tried playing an album from "My Music" on Apple Music. The app loaded it and then the playing track name iterated quickly through the name of every track before stopping on the last track name, without having played any of them. Almost seemed like it was being served files it didn't know how to play. We tried this a couple of times, and when we selected a song mid-album we finally got a spinner on the play button and the track did actually play. We were, however, unable to pause it reliably. We pressed pause, the app made it look like the music had stopped, but the music was still playing on the playbar. So now we had an app that thought it was paused, but it wasn't. The exact same behaviour when I tried playing Sonos radio. Starting there radio stream did work reasonably well however, but it took a good 10 sec to load.
Changing volume was almost impossible. If we used volume up/down on her phone, there would be a delay of roughly 7 seconds before anything happened. My phone was even worse as it seemed like the playbar never responded to volume change and after a while the volume slide jumped back to where it was (I'm on android, she's on iOS). Using the slider was weird. Nothing much happened while we held it down, but once we released it, the slider jumped back and forth several time within the range we traveled. Volume slider kept jumping for maybe 4 seconds, and the playbar volume went up and down as well, although somewhat delayed.
I had my mum try the web app, and she says she had a similar experience. Not sure how bad it was though as I didn't think to try it myself while I was there.
So. Any ideas? I'm thinking this shouldn't be network related if AirPlay works fine and the old app apparently worked fine before the update? We have power cycled the router. Anyone had similar and been able to fix?
I also have the new app, and although volume was very unresponsive for me at the beginning, it has been working fine for the last 3 or 4 days.

Hi everyone.
I just bought a Beam 2 and a Ray for my living room and office respectively, with the intentions of looking at the IKEA Symfonisks lamp and bookshelf speakers later down the line. I’m brand new to Sonos, but my friend sold me on it when I was at his place and he was showing me everything about it. Since then, I’ve been planning and prioritizing what I need for my place, without regard of the app, I just assumed it was good because he never had any issues with it. Now I’m seeing that there are some app redesigns and people saying it’s the slow downfall of the company (something about the CEO?)
I’m just looking for some feedback and to see if I need to consider other options or if this is just blown out of proportion at the moment. I haven’t had a chance to set up anything but I will be picking up my speakers from Best Buy after work today so I’m looking forward to it.
UPDATE: so I got both the speakers up and running no problem. I had an issue with the TruePlay on the Beam but after a while I finally got it working and tuned. So far I’m loving it and the app works but I could only imagine what it was like before, it does seem pretty clunky.
Also, when I set up the Ray, it said that it could not detect my optical cable, but it’s working? Ican adjust my volumes with my Apple TV and the tv is set to optical output. So not sure what that’s about.

Bought an Arc sound bar for my living room. Sounds great but I'd like some true surround sound. I don't fancy having a pair of era one speakers on stands so am thinking of getting a pair of IKEA symfonisk lamps stands instead. I'm no audiophile so I doubt whether I would honestly be able to hear much of a difference between these and the true Sonos speakers. I prefer the aesthetics of having a pair of lamps rather than a pair of speakers so my question is there a massive difference between the two speakers?

The only furniture I have is a “gray turquoise” Ikea Kivik couch and a “mocha” wooden tv stand (2nd photo, but not delivered yet). The couch is already a bit bold of a color, so I’m worried some of the example rugs on the Ikea website might be too bold of a pattern in combination. I prefer more of a mid century modern style, but with the concrete ceilings I’m open to a more rustic style as well. I've made a couple of lamps recently, using steel pipe, pipe fittings, found objects, Mason jars, etc. They were a lot of fun, and I've gotten some interest on them, so I'm thinking about making a few for sale. Whether I can do that safely, and legally, is the main question at the moment. Currently figuring out the "legal" part, but as far as making it safe goes:
What I've done so far is wire them with mains power, from the wall receptacle, to a rotary switch, to the lamp socket. All the connections are insulated spade connectors, securely crimped. I've added a grounding wire from the input cord to the frame, in case of a short. The bulbs are LED, and when a bulb is enclosed for any reason, I've added vents to the enclosure. The switches, cords, and lamp sockets are UL-listed components. The wire is 16-gauge stranded, for the most part.
The parts and methods I'm suing are, I would guess, better than your average Ikea lamp has. That said, I'm not about to sell somebody an electrical short or a house fire. Anything else I should do or can do within reason?
Also, if I made a wall sconce - is that something a licensed electrician would install, or not?

I've made a couple of lamps, utilizing steel pipe, fittings, various found objects, glass jars, etc. I'm pretty sure I could do a few as a side gig, and make decent money on them. Not, however, enough money to have these pieces UL-tested, or some such, especially since they're one-off pieces, and more art than furniture.
What I don't know is what liability I'm incurring by selling a homemade electrical device. I'm a pretty good hack electrician, and am very confident in the safety factor of what I make - the lights are securely wired, and grounded to the frame in case of a short, and consist of better components than your average Ikea lamp - but all the same, this is an incredibly litigious country and I want to cover my bases.
My questions are:

I'm a pretty good hack electrician, and am very confident in the safety factor of what I make - the lights are securely wired, and grounded to the frame in case of a short, and consist of better components than your average Ikea lamp - but all the same, this is an incredibly litigious country and I want to cover my bases.
My questions are:
- If my lamp burns down a house, would it matter whether it was UL listed or not? Would I get sued regardless?
- Would having the buyer sign a waiver, put together by a lawyer, actually offer protection in an event like that?
- Are the standards different between lamps, and light fixtures such as wall sconces or ceiling fans? (This is less of a legal question and more of an electrical code one, but I'm throwing it in anyway.)
- Is using UL-listed components and connectors an adequate substitute?

Hi all! First time apartment renter here with a quick question. There's no hardwired ceiling light in my new apartment, and I saw a couple of youtube videos showing how to attach then end of a power cord to a hardwired light fixture that can then be used as a plugin. More specifically, I was looking at this ceiling light from ikea:
LIGHT
and this power cord from amazon:
CORD1
would these two be compatible in terms of watts? I know that the light has a max of 28 W and the cord has 1600+. I'm assuming that the cord is able to draw a smaller amount of power if the light is that much less?
or would it make more sense to go with another cord like the following:
CORD2
sorry in advance if this sounds too eli5! Brand new to all this and just trying to figure things out!
