Paradise Beach Daybeds

2024.05.08 20:04 Candace_Diqfittin Paradise Beach Daybeds

Hey y’all! I keep seeing people say that the daybeds are an additional $30, but Paradise Beach’s website has them listed for $70. Are they cheaper in person?
Also, which one would you recommend? The pool bed or the beach bed? 🤔 We plan to take advantage of both the pool and the beach when we’re there in August!

2024.05.07 19:04 bestmackman First pool party for mid-30s couple?

Bullet points:
-mid 30s couple, first pool party
-staying mid July, Tuesday through Friday afternoon
-staying at Park MGM because it's smoke-free (non-negotiable for my wife), but it seems to have the most boring pool on the Strip.
-want something in between boring Park MGM pool and wall-to-wall screaming people at the huge expensive places.
-currently considering Flamingo Go Pool and the Marquee Day Club. Marquee has good prices mid-week and it all goes to food and drink, but my wife would prefer a more interesting layout than the rectangular pool. Flamingo seems to have an interesting pool, but less bang for buck money-wise.
-The Caesars Palace pool also looks super interesting, but I'm unsure if there's anything going on mid week there.
Can anyone offer any input? Anything to tip the scales one way or the other, or another option to consider? I know it's going to be hot in July and we're planning on a cabana or at least a shaded daybed. We're from the Central valley in California so we're used to heat.

2024.04.24 00:51 boludisima Help me with a color scheme?

Help me with a color scheme?
Hi! I just moved into a new place, and this room (first pic) is going to serve as my home office / craft room / guest room. I’m not planning to paint the walls or change out the carpet, and the only furniture I have right now for this room is the desk and chair. (The black shelves will likely go.) In the window nook behind the desk I’ll put a plant shelf. I’m also hoping to get a shelving unit for trinkets/crafts and a trundle/daybed situation.
Other than that, this room is really a blank slate, and I wanted to ask for suggestions for color scheme. I like bright, colorful, eclectic styles but I also don’t want the room to feel cluttered. I wouldn’t have chosen the light blue walls but i’m trying to make them work for now. The carpet is also tripping me up, since in another circumstance I would use area rug to add color. Any ideas for color schemes that would work well with the existing walls/carpet, and tips for how to execute this?
The second photo here is kind of the only picture I’ve found of a light blue room that I like—could I execute something like this even with the carpet?
Thanks in advance!

2024.04.21 19:43 Neat-Bass-5451 Daybed/sofa bed for daily sleeping

My partner and I are moving in together, we live with my parents and sleep in separate rooms as we have very different schedules, plus my partner snores - it's an arrangement that we both like but recognise we'll need to find a solution as our flat is one-bedroom.
We've decided to have either a sofa bed or daybed in the living room. From looking online, it seems that a daybed is the way to go if it's something that'll be slept on every night, but I'm now worried about it not being a great couch.
Some people have commented you can make it work with lots of cushions against the back, but I'm worried about the comfort of sitting on a foam mattress. We're considering the Ikea Hemnes daybed but now we're not sure whether a sofa bed would be the best option, although having to set it up and putting it away every single day doesn't sound appealing.
I'd be super grateful for any tips on how we could make this work. Essentially, we want something that is comfortable to sleep on every night (we plan on swapping beds based on our work schedules), whilst still working well enough as a couch - obviously there has to be some compromise (you can't have it both ways!) as well as budget considerations (max around £400 - we're based in the UK)

2024.04.16 21:07 LadyTelaAzul2 #1 UPDATE ON MY "ULTIMATE SHADY WHORE" REPLAY

Girl... THE WAY EVERYTHING MAKES MORE SENSE ON A WRITER'S POINT OF VIEW.
-Played the shit out of Jack, made out with him A LOT, slept with him on the daybeds and said I believed in our connection... only to choose Jin and dump Luna, now him suddenly turning into a bitch makes a lot more sense
-Shoot Jack down so many times, said I didn't wanna help him, exposed Sophie on her BS SO MANY TIMES, AND I LOVE IT!!
-Now I plan to dump Emel and Oakley right after I stirred the pot, not only cause I wanna keep tormenting Jack, but also cause Sophie being the bitch she always was makes way more sense writing-wise than Emel, who was nothing but nice to me the whole time, suddenly turning into a snake.

M33 - 4007 grafts with Dr Laorwong *Warning - REALLY long post**
Hey everybody! Just a heads up; this post is going to be VERY long; I wanted to make sure that if anybody was in the same boat as me; that any extra advice/tips would be super helpful.
Anyways! Lets get into it! I am M33, live in NSW and have been battling hair loss with varying success for the past decade.
At time of surgery, my regimen is 1mg Fin/day, and 0.5mg Dut/3 x a week (as directed by my Dermatologist) I spent a huge amount of time researching different doctors and clinics in an attempt to find the best Doctor for my situation. I landed on Dr Laorwong after seeing the density results he is able to get, and the hairlines he can produce pretty consistently. As an Aussie; It was one of the more convenient options given that there isn’t much on offer here in Australia, or NZ – So I made a point of documenting the process for a someone who has never been to Thailand, and share my experience to maybe help others who were like me, and felt VERY overwhelmed by the prospect of travelling abroad to get a Hair Transplant!
I departed Sydney on the 17th of March; flying out at 10pm, bound for Singapore which was a straight-forward process. After having a bit of a nap at one of the many (albeit awkwardly sticky) airport chairs, I made it back to the terminal for the connecting flight with Scoot (who fly out for Thailand earlier than they state, at least in my experience over the past week and a half)
I landed at about 8am at Suvarnabhumi airport (Bangkok), found my way down to the Taxi-terminal, which is a very orderly and easy to follow process - Go to the taxi screen thingy outside of the comfort of the chilled international airport, and take a ticket; a long line of taxi's are on the other side of the road and one of these driver's numbeparking position is what you receive on your ticket, you go up, they put your bag in their car and off you go!
I was nervous that the 60-ish mins the taxi ride would take according to Google Maps would cost an arm and a leg... Well, with a bit of morning traffic, and friendly, yet silent drive to the Cascade Hotel, it turned out to cost me about 18 Aussie Dollary-doos! (Note – in Thailand; they ask if you want to take the highway; think of it like the M7; except they take cash, so have some Baht with you to hand over – generally 20-50 baht depending on the toll)
Cascade hotel's check-in is at 2pm, so arriving at about 9:30am with my bag was a bit of an uncertainty; but the lovely staff were more than happy to keep them in storage prior to my checking in that afternoon. - They took my bags, i went over to the 7/11 that is LITERALLY right next to the hotel; picked up some of the highly recommended necessities: \* Mozzie spray \* Sunscreen (which comes in like... a kids yogurt sachet things?) \* A Bottle of Pocari Sweat (Had this in Japan, it’s a bit like a boring Gatorade, but super hydrating and delicious!) \* Water!!
From here, I opened up the Grab app, and set the destination for my first destination, the Chatuchak Weekend Market… My god was I NOT ready. It is one of the largest outdoor markets on the planet, and you feel it; I visited over 2 separate days, and STILL didn't get through all of it.
Some notes for the market if you plan on visiting; \* They charge 5 baht to go through a turnstile to use the bathroom... I only had to go once over the 2 days because of my second and more prominent note…
\* you will be DRENCHED in sweat. I am from country NSW, I can deal with 40+ degree days - But the humidity and pure mass of people in the area made it feel like a soup.
I purchased a few different bits and pieces (some underwear, a shirt + a pair of shorts was all I came with, knowing full-well that I was going to buy all required clothing whilst in Bangkok) I grabbed a few button-up shirts (a requirement to wear on surgery day) and headed back to the hotel!
The Cascade Hotel
The hotel room was great; don’t get me wrong, people often I suppose ‘look down’ on Thailand for various reasons – But the moment I walked into that hotel, any sort of culture shock dissipated with the kind staff being genuinely sweet and helpful. Besides having to buy a big bottle of water to brush my teeth; the hotel was awesome! A nice pool, a great café (with the best food I had in my entire trip tbh), icy cold air-con, VERY effective Block out curtains, and overall it certainly feels like a significantly more expensive hotel than what they charge per-night.
I will note, the 2 most important reasons I would recommend you choose Cascade; 1. it is about 700m up the road from Absolute Hair Clinic (literally just leave hotel, walk right for a few mins; there it is)
2. The hotel staff - They were amazing; anything that was needed was provided. Needed a HDMI cable? Let us find you one to borrow, Its raining? Here take an umbrella. Need to weigh your bags? Let one of our staff walk you through the back streets of Bangkok to a 7/11 whilst in your boxers and hotel room slippers at 1am.
But overall, I loved it there; the café, massage day-spa, and rooftop bar are great, and the place goes above and beyond for every guest. (and by the looks of the several navy 'surgery caps' I spotted in my time there; they are used to foreigners staying there for Absolute Hair Clinic)
The next day involved heading to MBK (picking up a fine selection of North Face, Patagonia and Nike shirts, along with a world of sports shorts that are a requirement for white guys in the weather that Bangkok offers!) A funny thing that I experienced in my first trip to MBK – If you see people running around and closing shop/hiding things; come back in a few hours, the police/government are coming through and they are hiding their fake stuff >.<

3pm; Pre-op Consult with Dr Laorwong.
I arrived at Absolute Hair Clinic, opened the door to see the familiar marble entrance decor, was hit with icy cold air-con, a table full of Absolute-Branded bottles of water, and a coffee machine for visitors to use. The staff requested to de-shoe and put on a pair of one of their MANY rubber slides. I had to fill out the paperwork that was explained concisely by the lady at the front desk.
From there I was asked to follow the nurse to the lift (yep... 7 floors of Laorwongy goodness!) We went up to a nice little room that had a roller-blind over a mirror with a leather spinning seat in front of it.
I met Dr Laorwong, and as expected he was quite reserved, humble, and not a huge conversationalist. I noted my hair loss history and current situation (fin, and alternating days of Dut as prescribed by dermatologist 6 weeks ago) we went over a plan and he drew a hairline; This was where it got a bit overwhelming - If you are reading this and KNOW exactly the sort of hairline you wanted/wanted to go back to pre-MPB or whatever; I envy you.
I had spent so long looking at transplant results over the past few years that I genuinely couldn’t figure out what I wanted... We spoke for a while, and he spent a lot of time trying to draw it correctly, using alcohol on a cotton ball to change and redraw it after reobserving what would look better where. Prior to this, if you had said to me "Laorwong is an artist" i would have thought you were a pretentious douche... But Laorwong spent 45 minutes softly moving my hair around, drawing on my scalp, checking angles, getting out the ruler to ensure uniformity, etc - The dude truly cares.
Unsure on the final design due to my own apprehension; I asked "Is this the FINAL design? can we tweak it tomorrow?" Laorwong reassured me that is totally fine
We shuffled off to a small room that is set up with a bunch of photography lights and apparatus. They sat me in the chair, and took DSLR photos of my current hair, with lines and angles drawn on, and from there I was given the pre-op shampoo and instructions. I headed back to the Cascade and was in the cold-feet stage of "oh god... what if it’s the wrong thing??" and went through the ENTIRETY of hairtransplants, and every Laorwong job I could find on hairrestorationnetwork, trying to find my future hairline!

7am; Morning of the Surgery
I awoke to torrential downpour with my one pair of shoes, my new 300 baht "Nike" sports shorts, and my floral button up shirt; i went to the lobby and was offered an umbrella for my long, wet, final walk of an Aussie bloke in his 30’s with a Dracula-esque hairline. The umbrella did its best bless it - but by the time i made it to the clinic, i looked like i just jumped out of the pool. Arriving early (Doc said 8am, head nurse lady said 8:30am... I made it there before 8 and had to be let in by the cleaning lady haha I stood under the aircon and tried to dry off, and was greeted by the nurse who lead me up to the same room as the pre-op consult yesterday.
Dr Laorwong came in and we went through the hair design again, and I expressed my concerns - His initial idea was for me to come back for another surgery, and I said that if its needed then that’s something I can look into in a year or two, but personally; I didn’t want to have a really thick, full frontal 2/3rds and be very sparse at the back for the next year or 2. I suggested that the frontal be packed as is his specialty, but to spread out the rest of the donor to ‘fill-in’ the rest as he saw fit. Dr Laorwong agreed and worked with me on where he thought best to fill-in. I then asked about temporal points and he said "that’s not a bad idea" drew them, rubbed them out, redrew them - This whole process took about 45 mins and involved the shaving of my head (which was a bitter-sweet affair to be really honest)
I took the provided medication which involved valium, some numbing sticky tape thingies on top of my eyebrows, and anti-biotic nasal gel that was swabbed up my nose (that was a new one lol), and was lead to the surgery room!
I was asked to lay face down on what is essentially a modified massage table – I was told I could have my phone in the ‘cubby' thing that the face hole looks down into.
I asked for the Wi-Fi password, and they gave me a QR code to scan and bam; I was ready to roll!
Operation!
As with MANY others, I will say that the injections of the anesthetic were the most painful part; specifically, the 'nobbly bits' on the back of the head/above the nape of the neck. The typical massage gun was used and for the most part did actually help the pain for most other injections.
From there, I was out - I have had some Diazepam in my time, and maybe it was a combination of being anxious all night and not sleeping well, along with the exhaustion of shopping for the 2 days prior; but i fell asleep and awoke at about midday needing to pee; the staff helped me up and i went and did my business, came back, laid down and fell right back to sleep!
Fast forward about an hour and a half, I was gently woken and told "extraction is all done! time for lunch!" The day before i was asked what i wanted for lunch, and having read all about it on here, I asked for Chicken Pad Thai, to which the lady said she will ensure that it would be delicious (Spoiler; She was right, the shit was awesome hahaha)
After lunch it was time to relocate the 4007 grafts!
I went back to the Surgery room and they laid me on my back, and placed some gauze over my eyes. I did think at the start that it was paper towel, as i could hear them cutting paper or something similar (them cutting surgical drapes or something?) After a bit of peeking in the reflection in the window opposite the foot of the bed; It turns out that this sound was the scalpel cutting into my scalp... So that is what that sounds like i guess?
This part was harder to fall asleep during, but was a painless and largely... boring affair, but Laorwong was the one making specific incisions, and I saw him with his flip-down binocular thingies being very precise with the incisions he was making, occasionally pointing out specific things to nurses that were busy sorting out the myriad of other things happening around him. Laorwong was in and out of the surgery room as the hours rolled on, I believe he did the hairline and part of the crown (although it was sort of asleep so I cannot confirm 100%)
When awake, I made conversation with the nurses, who were giggly and enjoying their time there until the Doctor entered, to which they went into ‘shhh, its the boss!’-mode, which was funny.
Overall, it went smoothly; about 8:30pm the surgery was complete and I was asked to sit up and hop off the bed and into a chair for head wrapping. When they began wrapping my head, I started to feel faint; ringing in ears and woozy - I let the staff know and they placed me back on the bed, they then went and retrieved me a sugary drink and a salmon rice-roll to try and get my blood sugar and BP back up. After about 10 mins of looking very pale, I had improved and felt much better. I was given the all clear to head back to the hotel!
Feeling a bit 'floaty' and hungry, I headed to the 7/11 and grabbed a bunch of toasties, and went back to my room to watch YouTube videos and trying to keep my head upright.
Post-op
That night i took extra-caution to ensure that I didn’t screw anything up - I slept in the chair in that sits at a the table in the room (which my friend’s jokingly called the ‘cuck chair’), neck pillow on, and all prescribed medication in me.
I slept this way for 2 nights (until my back Nope'd out, and i had to do my best to stay on my back when in bed for the remainder of my nights in Bangkok)
The next afternoon, Laorwong checked in and admired his handiwork, happy with how it looked. We discussed the processes and things I can do to mitigate any issues (notably how itchy it was starting to get, and he immediately said “I will write a prescription for an antihistamine and that should fix it” - As promised, I went downstairs and he had authorized it, and the nurse had given me the prescription, labelled with my name and instructions, as well as a letter with all prescribed medication for when I depart Bangkok which I thought was really cool.
Post-Op Care Routine
For the next 5 days I booked a time to walk down and go through the washing process - What it involved each day was;
\* The bandages are removed (or bandana/pads/sweat band; depending on what day post-surgery you are on)
\* They ask you to lay in the hairdresser-style daybed thing with the sink at the end, and proceed to wash your scalp (and god is it refreshing in the Bangkok heat)
\* They then sit you up in front of the mirror and take a look at the donor and recipient sites, monitoring progress in your file.
\* From there you go into the lift again, go up to a floor that has a LLLT set-up - Pretty much another massage table with what feels like a space heater that gets pointed at the front of your head for 13 mins, and then it shuts off, the nurse comes in again and flips you over to do the other side (not unlike a medium-rare steak i suppose). It is slightly warm, because... lasers I guess - but the staff ALWAYS turn on the split system air conditioner as you enter each room.
\* At the end of the first wash session I was taken to the photo room again to get some high-res pics of the surgery result.
\* Finally, they put antibiotic cream all over your scalp, and proceed to cover it up and send you on your way!
On the final day, Dr Laorwong came and inspected the progress and we spoke about the next few days/weeks and what to expect. When saying goodbye to him, I shook his hand and told him that it may sound silly, but he has changed my life - and he was very humble and very appreciative of the kind words.
Arriving back home and progress since
Overall, the week or so of having a good head of hair over Easter was brilliant; the confidence (even if wearing a hat or bandana) was worth the cost of surgery alone. I noticed that about 3 weeks post-surgery that shedding started to occur – No matter how much you KNOW its going to happen; its still a bit of a bummer losing the hairline you just got. At the moment, I am a few days short of One month, and I would say about 75% of the implanted hairs have shed out ☹
I will post photos below and am happy to answer anything and everything that anybody wants to ask. Sorry for the ABSURDLY long post – Hopefully this can help anybody out there unsure of the crazy adventure of medical tourism with Dr Laorwong! 😊

What Makes Rattan Ideal for Patio Furniture?

Rattan, a close relative of the palm tree, is a naturally occurring vine-like species that thrives in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Australasia. What sets rattan apart from other furniture materials is its incredible flexibility and strength. When crafted into furniture, rattan's solid core and vertical grains endure bending and shaping, resulting in intricate, elegant designs that are as sturdy as they are stylish. This flexibility allows for a wide range of furniture styles, from traditional to contemporary, ensuring that there's a rattan piece for every garden theme.
Moreover, rattan furniture is celebrated for its exceptional durability. Capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions—from scorching sun to torrential rains—rattan maintains its shape and integrity over the years. Its natural resistance to splitting and cracking keeps your patio set looking new season after season, making it a practical and beautiful investment for any outdoor space.

The Sustainability Aspect: Why Rattan is an Eco-Friendly Choice

In today's environmentally conscious world, the sustainability of our choices has never been more critical. Rattan stands out as an eco-friendly option for several reasons. Firstly, it is a highly renewable resource. Rattan vines grow quickly, reaching full maturity within 5 to 7 years, much faster than hardwood trees. This rapid growth cycle ensures that rattan can be harvested without causing harm to the ecosystems where it grows.
Additionally, rattan cultivation has a low impact on the environment. It grows in diverse forests and can contribute to the ecosystem's health by providing habitat for other plants and animals. Its harvesting process is labor-intensive yet requires minimal machinery, reducing the carbon footprint associated with production.
Choosing rattan patio furniture not only enhances your garden's aesthetics but also supports sustainable practices. It's a choice that feels as good as it looks, aligning with a lifestyle that values the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it for future generations.

Selecting the Perfect Rattan Patio Set for Your Garden

Choosing the right rattan patio set can transform your outdoor space into a personal retreat that reflects your style and meets your relaxation needs. This section provides guidance on making the best selection for your garden, taking into account practical considerations and design preferences.

Considerations for Size and Layout

Before falling in love with a patio set, it's crucial to consider the size of your outdoor space and its layout. Measure the area where you plan to place the furniture to ensure a good fit. Remember, a set that's too large can overwhelm your space, while one that's too small may look out of place. Think about the flow of movement around the furniture and allow for enough space to walk comfortably. For smaller gardens, consider compact designs or modular pieces that offer flexibility without sacrificing style.

Style and Aesthetics: Finding Your Garden’s Match

Rattan patio sets come in a variety of styles, from traditional to modern, making it easy to find a set that complements your garden's existing theme. Consider the overall look you want to achieve. Are you aiming for a cozy, rustic vibe, or a sleek, contemporary feel? The color and finish of the rattan can also impact the set's overall appearance—natural tones blend seamlessly with outdoor surroundings, while darker hues can create a striking contrast.
When selecting your patio set, think about the type of gatherings you envision. A dining set may be perfect for those who love to host outdoor meals, while a lounge set might be better suited for casual gatherings. Additionally, consider the comfort and functionality of the pieces. Cushions that are water-resistant and UV-protected will offer longevity and ease of maintenance, ensuring that your outdoor space remains a haven for relaxation and entertainment.

Maintenance Tips for Rattan Patio Furniture

To keep your rattan patio set looking its best through seasons of enjoyment, regular maintenance is key. This section offers practical advice on caring for your rattan furniture, from routine cleaning to protective measures against the elements.

Cleaning and Care Basics

Rattan's natural resilience to wear and tear doesn't exempt it from the need for regular cleaning. To maintain the pristine condition of your rattan furniture, start with a gentle vacuuming using a brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the crevices. For deeper cleaning, a mild soap and water solution can be applied with a soft cloth, followed by a thorough rinse with clean water to avoid soap residue buildup. Always allow your furniture to air dry completely before use.
For synthetic rattan, similar cleaning methods apply, but you can also use a mild detergent for stubborn stains. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or brushes, as these can damage the furniture's surface.

Protecting Your Rattan Furniture from the Elements

While rattan is durable, prolonged exposure to the elements can affect its appearance and structural integrity. Here are ways to protect your rattan patio furniture:
  • Use Protective Covers: When not in use, especially during harsh weather conditions or in the off-season, cover your rattan furniture with breathable, waterproof covers to shield it from rain, snow, and excessive sunlight.
  • Position Strategically: Place your furniture in areas where it's less likely to be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, which can fade and weaken the material. Utilizing shade structures, like pergolas or umbrellas, can also offer additional protection.
  • Store During Extreme Weather: If possible, store your rattan furniture indoors or in a dry, sheltered area during winter months or severe weather conditions. This precaution extends the life and beauty of your patio set.
Implementing these maintenance tips will not only keep your rattan furniture in top condition but also ensure that your outdoor oasis remains a source of joy and relaxation for years to come.

Incorporating Rattan Patio Sets into Your Garden Design

The final step in transforming your garden with a rattan patio set involves more than just placing furniture outdoors; it's about creating a cohesive outdoor living area that reflects your personal style and meets your relaxation and entertainment needs. Here are some tips to help you achieve a harmonious blend of comfort and style in your garden.

Integrating Furniture with Garden Themes

Your garden's theme or style should guide the selection and placement of your rattan furniture. For a tropical oasis, consider incorporating rattan pieces with vibrant cushions and tropical plant accents. If your garden has a more minimalist modern design, look for sleek rattan pieces that complement clean lines and neutral color palettes.
Consider the flow of your garden space and how each piece of furniture will be used. Dining areas, lounging spots, and conversation nooks should be thoughtfully placed to enhance the overall functionality and aesthetic of your garden.

Accessorizing Your Rattan Set for Enhanced Comfort and Style

Accessories can transform your rattan patio set from simple to spectacular, adding layers of comfort and style. Start with cushions and throws in weather-resistant fabrics that complement your garden's color scheme. Add outdoor rugs to define seating areas and bring warmth and texture to the space.
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood. Solar-powered lights, lanterns, and LED string lights can create a magical evening ambiance. For an added touch of nature, incorporate planters and flower pots that match or contrast with your rattan furniture, enhancing the garden's lush feel.
By considering these elements, you can ensure your rattan patio set not only fits into your garden but elevates it, making your outdoor space a more inviting and enjoyable place to spend time.

2024.03.28 05:00 friedricenopotato Mattress that's good for a daybed?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a mattress that ships in a box that is good for a full size daybed. I'm assuming I need a firmer one since it will mostly be used as a couch. A lot of the ones I see on Amazon say that the sides cave in when you sit on them. Which is not ideal for a couch. Any ideas? Budget no more than $400. It can be cheap. I plan to put a foam topper on it

2024.03.25 20:00 TayTayCools Help deciding between 1 or 2 bedroom when moving for a new job

Help deciding between 1 or 2 bedroom when moving for a new job
Hey everyone! Sorry if this is long, but feel free to ask questions, I'll try to respond. Thanks!!
I will be moving sometime in June from a college town in TX to a city in NC and I am having some difficulty figuring out if I should rent a 1 or 2 bedroom. They are both in the same complex so the only difference is the size/layout. I've calculated a difference of $215 per month with utilities and other stuff included. Additionally my salary offer was increased since they can't pay relocation, so with that the 1 bed is about 35% of my estimated take home pay and the two bed is about 40%. I have included pictures from the complex's website (the kitchen in the 1 bed is a bit bigger and can fit a table).
Things to note: My apt in Texas is a 2 bedroom (2 floors and I think 900 square feet), one is my office which I mainly use for gaming and other hobbies (sewing, crafts, etc). I will definitely need a place to put a desk and have my pc setup - in the 1 bed, it would either be living room or my bedroom. I also have 2 cats, one of which has only lived in my current apartment. If I get a smaller apartment I may look into getting a litter robot to (hopefully) act as the only litterbox. I am planning on donating/selling some of my current furniture since I have a accumulated stuff that I would not like to take with me, the amount would depend on the new apt.
There is a chance people will come to visit me, and my sister has shown interest in living with me during the summers while she is in undergrad - but she has told me she wouldn't mind if I got a 1 bed and might go back to our parents for a portion of the week. I have a couch that can act as a bed, but I'd likely get a daybed or one of those murphy bed cabinets (they are about the size as a dresser) if I did have the 2nd bedroom.
My new job will allow some flexible work from home, and the complex is also only a 10 min walk to my new office. I prefer to work in person, so I would mainly be in office rather than work from home.
I have lived in plenty of smaller places before this so I'm not super worried about my ability to have it be comfortable and decorated in my style (I honestly like having a bunch of stuff on the wall and tschotskes displayed). I think I've just gotten used to a larger space while I've been here in Texas for the last couple years. Thanks again for reading!!!

2024.03.24 10:18 ellie14zz Tulum (half day) or beach club in Cancun/Isla Mujeres?

Hi everyone! I’ll be headed to Cancun for a short 4D3N solo trip next month. Also my first time in Mexico.
I’m currently planning my itinerary and thinking what should I do for my 3rd day on this trip. I do want to visit Tulum on an express tour but also considering to instead chill at a beach club on a sun bed in Cancun/Isla Mujeres or perhaps both on Day 3?
Day 1: Cancun Day 2: Chichen Itza tour Day 3: Undecided Day 4: Fly out to CMDX
At the moment the only beach club that I found is Mandala Cancun without any pricing info on the daybed.
What would you recommend out of both for the best experience with the limited time? It’s also the start of a longer trip which will last for another 2 weeks. Thank you

2024.03.20 20:14 Small-Impression6430 The whole story-Part 2

I wish I would have been more aware that during this time I was being not so silently judged by my family behind my back. I had a feeling that they didn't understand my reasons for separating from my exhusband but they hadn’t said anything directly to me. I only ever told anyone the good things happening with my ex and I, so I guess they discussed amongst themselves. My Mom had been babysitting for my Sister like once a week or something, it was her favourite day of the week you could tell. My Mom always has a special bond with the oldest grandchildren, she was the same way with my oldest son, and my Brothers son. But yeah, I had no idea that I was going to be spending almost a month in the hospital with the baby, so when my Mom let my Sister know that she couldn't babysit that week my Sister got very upset. Then once she had heard that I had CAS called on me she didn't want her son here anymore, she didn't even give me the chance to explain anything to her. I heard all of this though my Mom because she wasn't saying any of this to me. She came up to visit with my Aunt and said nothing of the sorts to me, it seemed like everyone put on a fake smile for me and then hated me behind my back. But I do have to add that my Aunt was on the ball with everything when it came to the birth of my daughter. She knew I wanted a headband bow for my daughter for when she met her Dad so my Aunt bought every colour. She would come sub in for my Mom when my Mom would go home and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable, but it seemed to cause tension between my Aunt and my Mom. I always tried to do anything I could to help any of my family, when my Sister got pregnant with my niece I wanted to bring all the toys and stuff down to her basement and make it a playroom so she had somewhere for my nephew to entertain himself while she got off her feet for a bit. I wanted to put a daybed down there for power naps. I had never installed flooring before but I figured it out, I got the stuff to start fixing the hole in her ceiling and mudded all the holes in the entrance, only to hear that she complained that I left it unfinished, even though I hadn't been invited back.
Anytime my ex would come over he'd hang out down in my bedroom while I was upstairs taking care of the kids. After we had the baby I thought that he’d hangout upstairs with me and the kids instead of hiding down in my bedroom trying to guilt me into spending time with him when I had kids to take care of. Anytime he wanted to have sex we did and if I said no I’d regret it. He’d want to have sex with his daughter sleeping at the end of the bed or when we were in a room with all 5 of the kids sleeping, times I felt it was incredibly inappropriate but if my answer wasn't just to let it happen then he’d end up storming off which usually ended in him getting loud, turning on lights, giving zero shits about anyone other than himself basically.
I did not have a problem with commitment. I'm a wife at heart and live for my family. I don't do things that would risk the stable life I want my children to have in order for some attention. I'm not someone who needs attention and compliments, I'm very easy to keep happy, I always have been. I don't struggle with staying faithful to my partner at all. But then all my ex would do is claim that all I want is dick from other men, how I treated him like shit, how horrible of a partner I was to him when anyone who knew us could tell you that is not the case. I have made peace with the fact that in order for my kids to be safe that I'm going to have a more lonely life and I've accepted that, it's my job now to make sure that my kids learn from my mistakes so they don't end up in the same situation that I'm in now and that's okay.
There was one time that I was meeting his cousin so he invited him over. I was super nervous because I wanted to make a good impression but I thought the visit went well, and that his cousin walked away feeling good that his cousin found someone. That was until after his cousin left and he accused me of flirting with his cousin right in front of him. He ASKED ME IF I WANTED THE SUCKER!! And then accused me of sucking on it all sexually when I know I did not and never would do something like that to a member of his family. It's like he set me up so he could freak out later about it. When I'm nervous I twirl my hair, I don't even notice that I'm doing it while it's happening, it's just something I do, I honestly just wanted his cousin to like me as the girlfriend of his cousin and nothing more. He would go right off on me because he thought that I had spent to much time talking about my ex, which would include just telling stories of time where I was with my ex, but then he'd spend an entire date on his phone arguing with his oldest daughters Mother while I sit in silence because if I was ever on my phone to much it was a huge problem. If I stayed on my phone when he came outside and sat down beside me it was a problem, if I put my phone down when he came outside it was a problem, if I put my phone face down when he came outside that was a problem, I couldn't ever do anything right. If I ever tried to bring up anything that was bothering me, like him being on his phone on our date, or me not knowing what he wants me to do with my phone when he walks into the room, he would turn my concern around on me and it would turn into all the reasons why I suck, how I treat him so badly, that his life has been a mess since meeting me, how he just knew he'd regret giving me a chance… And then me pleading and begging and promising to change if he'd just forgive me this one more time, like the most pathetic person you can imagine, that was me.
Eventually we hit the point where things were consistently bad, for a week straight he'd call me on his way to work to tell me how glad he was to be done with me and how I wouldn't find someone to put up with me. At that point I hadn't even considered a life without him, like not even once, I always thought that we'd end up together. But I went outside the relationship, and that just happened to be the time he finally showed up. There were probably 1000s of times that he'd start a ridiculous argument by making plans with me and then leading up to hanging out he'd use anything and everything as an argument starter, like he'd accuse me of not wanting to see him despite making plans and not saying anything that would make him think plans had changed. So many times I wished he would have just dropped the argument that he would start, I'd spend most of the argument trying to understand what I said wrong for him to freak out. But I went out of the relationship first, we tried to move on from it but it wasn't possible.
That was one of the many many times we should have called it quits, but I can be stubborn when I have a future planned and didn't want to let it go. We decided to take the 5 kids (my 3 boys, my oldest daughter we share and then his oldest daughter from a previous relationship) to his Moms house because she has big beautiful house on an old apple orchard that we had been trying to get started again. All of the kids got to plant their own apple tree the year before, I LOVED everything about that house, and the family there (excluding one person). My exes Mother has some mobility issues so I always liked to try and organise something or clean something that would make her life a little easier, I also made sure to deweed all the trees and plants we had planted because nobody else took the time to do it. Anyways, he had been drinking the entire trip and locked himself in the trailer after throwing all of mine and my kids clothes out onto the lawn. He took a bunch of his sleeping medication, never sharing that information with me despite him claiming that I knew and ignored his pleas for help…. He just yelled at me to make him nachos after he squished a juice box in my face. My oldest son was feeling home sick and I knew it was because I wasn't spending enough time with the kids, but then anytime I went and hung out with them he'd be angry texting me accusing me of hiding behind the kids and avoiding him. He knows that I'm an honest person and answers questions honestly when he asks them. It was actually him who helped point out that I was making life harder for myself anytime that I’d panic and say what I thought the person wanted to hear. He wanted every detail of the guy I had met even with me begging him not to ask the questions, he spent an entire evening standing over me while he went on and on about what a horrible person I was. At the time I agreed with him that I had ruined our family so I sat and agreed with him while he ranted. I hoped that once he got it all out that we could start working towards fixing things but the next morning he brought it up while we were being intimate because he’d get off faster when he’d get jealous but then he’d be so mad at me afterwards. If I didn't go along with it, he’d get upset, it didn't matter if right afterwards I said “I didn't mean any of that, just so you know”, I could be smiling, complimenting him for a job well done and still he’d be upset. It was the most helpless feeling because it was so important to me that my daughters had both parents like I did, it's always been his actions that caused me to fear what he would do or say to the girls while I'm not around. Anyways, that morning he got upset all over again, I can't remember why I ran down the road from him but I just wanted to get away from him so I could breathe without him staring into my soul. He followed me so I ran into the bush so he couldn't see where I was. He stayed out on the road and yelled that he was going to go wake up the kids and pack up and leave, this was early in the morning before anyone else had woken up. I didn't want that so I came out, I'm embarrassed to admit it and wish I could remember what I was doing but I had sat down in the middle of the road with my legs crossed (this is not a busy road, we'd get maybe 5 vehicles that would drive by in a day), that's when he wrapped my ponytail around his hand and yanked me up to my feet. I would say up to that point that was the worst thing he had done to me physically, but it might be tied with him grabbing me by the back of the neck and pushing me out his front door after the buses had stopped running for the night, in the winter, while I was pregnant with our daughter. Or spitting in my face while he sat above me laying in the bed while he screamed at me, then he kicked me onto the couch, then he said if I was spending the night then it had to be in his bed, then it was if I was spending the night then he was getting laid, I just needed to go to bed.
So after all of this happened at his Moms house he tried to convince her that I wasn't welcome anymore so technically I was “squatting”. I explained that I'd prefer if I called my Dad to come and pick us up because I didn't trust him not to say anything stupid in front of the kids. He acted so disgusted that I could think he would pull something like that, only to do exactly that. I had the windows rolled down, the music cranked and he still would not shut up for the entire 3-hour drive back home.
I didn't talk to him for a bit after he dropped us off after that trip, but we went our separate ways while also staying in contact with each other on and off. I really can't say whether it was a month or 2-months but we ended up getting back together. We went camping just the two of us and I had a wild animal run into me through the tent, I have no idea what type of animal it was. The next morning there were people whose tires had been flattened and he hoped right on helping them. I was feeling proud to have such a handy man that knew exactly how to help these people so I snapped a picture of him. I honestly did not notice his butt crack was showing the tiniest bit because I had uploaded all the pictures I had taken from our trip. Even though I deleted it the second he brought it to my attention he still made it seem like I did it on purpose.
Ever since my Grandma died when I was very young my Moms side of the family would meet up at the cemetary on my Grandma's birthday and the anniversary of her death, we would just hang out and talk and then we'd usually head back to my Grandpa's house for dinner, it was always incredibly comforting having my family in one place with us all together. During the time that my ex and I were broken up, I wasn't really talking to anybody, I internalise a lot of stuff and don't ever end up telling anyone about it. My family all used Facebook frequently so I had written a post saying “my family, I need you, I’m so sorry for being so shut in but I’m ready to open up” maybe like the month before. My Aunt had seen this and wrote me a beautiful message about how she’s watched me grow into the woman I am, being so grateful for being apart of my daughters birth and how she didn’t know what was going on with me lately. I needed that message when I got it, it reminded me that I wasn’t alone in this, that I just needed to surround myself with my family and I could get through it. My parents had invited the family up to the trailer for a family dinner, I mention it specifically because my Aunt used my behaviour that day as proof that I was “too stoned to function”, when I know for a fact that I was just incredibly sad. My ex and I would have been back together the day of the cemetery, because I'm positive that I had just messaged him that ‘I worried for nothing, this is going amazing’ right before my youngest son started acting up. He would have been maybe 7 or 8 at the time. The little kids were popping bubbles and crawling in the grass while the adults talked and joked around. I was the happiest I had been in a long time. I had all my kids with me, my Moms side of the family, we even had my 2nd cousin who was in town visiting which almost never happens. At the time I had been dealing with my youngest son's behaviour issues any way that I could, my exhusband and I were meeting with the school monthly to go over my son's progress, the school would call anytime there was an issue. I don’t remember why CAS was involved at that time again, and then we were doing this class that was for basically the whole family. My exhusband and I went to the parents room where they explained the whole concept of SNAP (STOP. NOW. AND. PAUSE) and how to use it at home. We had to reenact situations and take notes, every class began with a 5-minute meditation. The two older boys hung out with the other siblings in a whole other room, just playing board games and stuff. I let my oldest son bring in beyblades on the last day, everyone had a blast. We had one class where the parents went into the ‘problem kids’ room so we could practise using all the new ‘tools’ they had taught us, it was definitely an experience. I think I had my answer the very first day of class when everyone had to introduce themselves and talk about their ‘problem child’ (they didn't really call them that it's just easier for the story). My exhusband and I were the only parents there that weren’t together, which I actually really liked and wish it was more common for parents to still be together. My son was the only child who hadn’t been diagnosed with ADHD and after seeing him in a room full of other kids who had been diagnosed it was very obvious. Just being in that room full of little boys, bouncing off the walls, climbing on stacks of chairs, and beating on each other anytime an adult turned their back, it really opened my eyes to the fact that my youngest son wasn’t choosing to make life more difficult for the adults in his life, his brain is working against him just sitting down and listening in class. Anyways, even though I wasn't giving my family updates on what was going on with me and my kids, my Mom was still talking to everyone so I think I just assumed she would have told my Grandfather and my Aunt what I had been up to. Earlier on in the year there was a little incident where my Grandmother from my Dad's side was talking to my Grandfather from my Moms side, his girlfriend, and made a false accusation about me using money I had borrowed from my Grandfather for drugs. I asked to borrow $1,000 to help get me through my 6-week placement I had to do for school (I had been irresponsible with the money I got from my student loan and had nothing left by the time I did my placement). I actually don't remember why I didn't have the money but I can say without a doubt that I did not spend the money on drugs. I'm not sure if she asked my Dad about it or what but once my Nana realised that she was spreading rumours about me, she called me immediately and I love her so much for that. I actually had no idea that any of this had taken place, I was completely oblivious to all of this until after the fact because I had missed my Nana's calls and hadn't checked my messages but the next time I saw her she was so sorry for talking about me behind my back and passing on untrue information. I’m not one to make a big deal out of things, so anytime my Nana mentions how sorry she is, I don’t even want to hear it because its done and forgiven and I don’t want her to continue feeling guilty over something she took full responsibility for and apologised and is completely forgiven for.
So, while at the cemetery my youngest son couldn't find something to do to entertain himself so he ended up wandering around, eventually my Aunt gave him shit for how he responded to me. My Dad had gone to the truck to get something, because this wouldn't have taken place infront of my Father, so while that took place my Grandfather and my Uncle started in on how my son needed to be “punished properly”, so I turned back to them and began to explain that times have changed and you aren't allowed to hit your kids like they could back in the day. I never got the opportunity to explain more before my Aunt was in my face and I'm standing there with my Mom hanging off me, begging us not to fight when I had no intentions of fighting (my Aunt and Uncle were both jail guards, they've been trained on how to put someone on the ground, I wasn't looking to make a fool of myself, I knew better). I still imagine I looked pretty dumb that day, but not half as ridiculous as my Uncle hiding behind my Aunt, repeating everything she said in a stupid voice while making sure not to get close enough for me to reach him if I wanted to. My Uncle NEVER would have opened his mouth infront of my Dad and I'm surprised that he felt comfortable enough to do it infront of the rest of my family. I grew up listening to stories of my Grandfather being such an amazing Dad, of him slamming a boys head off a table for making my Mom cry and putting a rock through someones back windshield after repeatedly asking him to stop driving recklessly down the street they lived on. After acting as if she was so grateful to be apart of my daughters birth and then to turn around and to tell me to “go have another baby, Sarah” and calling me a spoiled brat left me basically speechless, I think the most insulting thing I got out was “I'm the spoiled brat? Are you kidding me?”. There was one point where my middle son said something about not being mean to his Mom and my Aunt yelling at him in the exact same volume and tone she had been yelling at me in that I almost considered putting my hands on her, but again after watching my Mom and Aunt play fight throughout the years it wasn't worth anyone getting hurt especially since my Aunt is getting up there in age, double that for her husband. My Grandpa walked right passed me, without a word, then his girlfriend hugged me and whispered in my ear to “go get help”. After processing I had written out a message and sent it to my family correcting all the things they had wrong, but nobody ever responds. I asked what I needed help with and got no answer. When I did eventually talk to Bonnie, I made it clear that I expected an apology before we could move forward with our relationship and this is only because it happened in front of my children. If it would have happened behind closed doors then I could accept forgetting about it but I have an example to set and I don’t want my kids growing up thinking you can say whatever you want to someone's face and never suffer any consequences. She knew she owed me an apology. When I brought up how unfair it was that my Grandpa had to choose between his children on holiday she made it seem like the family wouldn't have been getting together regardless because of covid when that is bullshit. The way they went about things was stupid and if it was really about staying protected then you wouldn't be hanging out with my Mom who lives in the same house as me and all my germs.
Another Side Note, sorry: so, I just want to have it be known that when Covid first happened, I was stupid and I freaked out and I wouldn't allow my Brother to come back to my parents house. I feel very dumb for it now but my Brother moved to Toronto where Covid was the only place that really had it in Ontario as far as I knew and I got scared. I had made it known how dumb of an idea I believed it was for him to move down South for a girl and told him that if he comes back, he's not to bring Covid back to this house. I think he took it more as a joke than anything, but I know I was serious at the time. He moved, things didn't work out, he came back and I lost my shit. I had a screaming match with my Mom with her asking “do you really think that I would put my grandchildren in harms way?” and me yelling back “I don't think you would knowingly, but without all of the information, I believe you're doing it right now”. Definitely not my finest moment as a daughter and a Sister that's for sure. I've apologised to everyone since for overreacting like I did and I think they understand that I just wanted everyone to stay safe.
When my nephew's birthday rolled around I went to my sister's place, not really knowing what to expect from anyone. I was very disappointed that when my Grandpa saw me pushing my daughter on the swings, he just put his head down and walked into the house. He didn’t say anything that day and since then we’ve just gone on like nothing happened. We definitely don’t have the relationship we used to. In that moment I felt like I had lost my family, all my plans of surrounding myself with them went out the window and I ended up getting back together with my ex again.
It wasn't long after we got back together that we found out I was pregnant again.
With this being my 5th baby and knowing my body, I had no doubt that I was pregnant with my exes baby. I understood why he’d have his doubts but I was happy to put those doubts to rest. The earliest you can get a DNA test is 10-weeks but you also get to know the gender and any serious issues but it costs like $1,200, my ex had no interest in knowing for sure I was having his baby, I believe it was so he could spend the pregnancy denying it and making me look bad to anyone that would listen.

Teak Paint Chipping removal
I have this teak daybed I purchased from someone. The paint on it is chipping in places and also has some black mold where the cushions sit. The previous owners did not take care of the set AT ALL. I don’t usually work with wood and don’t have much experience. What would my best plan of action be if I want the end result to look fresh clean and nicely golden brownish? I don’t mind putting in some elbow grease to get it looking fresh. I just don’t know what steps to take. With one of them I sprayed it with water and I guess pressure was a little too high and the paint started to chip off. Oops. Should I go about sanding it down by hand and then what!? Thanks everyone.

2024.03.12 18:31 QueenOliviaTheBike Best wood to add leg extensions to rubberwood bed frame

I have this folding daybed from World Market https://www.worldmarket.com/p/espresso-wood-studio-day-sofa-372991.html and I am planning to add a 4" block to the bottom of each leg to make it taller.
What kind of wood should I use to match hardness/durability/etc of the rubberwood frame? All my scrap wood is generic 2x4s, plywood, pine, etc so I am planning to go to Home Depot to pick up a new board for it.

2024.03.09 16:01 Serina_L Nursery Furniture for Small Space

Even if your room isn’t so spacious, your can still make room for a cozy spot for your baby to sleep and spend time with your baby. The best nursery furniture for small spaces will be compact enough to fit in your desired location while still offering a comfortable, functional nursery spot for both you and your little one.
Before making a purchase, you want to make sure you know how much space you’re working with so you can take a peek at sizing specs to ensure the nursery furniture will fit.
And since you are getting something for a long term use (at least 3 to 5 years), you’ll want to ensure the color and style match your current home décor.
At Newborn Nursery Furniture, we are striving to provide the best solution for your nursery needs. There are plenty of nursery furniture that can fit in a small space.

A Mini Crib

As the center of nursery, a crib is a must-have for any family with a newborn. And a mini crib is for small spaces. Like Soho Baby Essential Mini Crib (available in grey and white). Most babies will be comfortable in something this size for longer than you may think. Also this Soho Baby Essential Mini Crib is 4-in-1 convertible. It can be converted from crib to toddler bed, day bed, and twin-size adult bed as your kid grows bigger. All you need are conversion kits including a toddler bed guard rail and a full bed conversion kit.

A Crib & Changer Combo

Getting a nursery furniture combo is a great way to save space and solve at least two of your problems. For example, this Oxford Baby Pearson Crib and Changer Combo in Dove Gray can be your great choice. This complete nursery solution features a 4-in-1 Convertible Crib and Changing Station with Changing Pad (sold separately). With the added storage shelf and drawers, the Changing Station is perfect for keeping all of baby's necessities close by. The Pearson Crib is sturdy and easily converts from a Crib to a Toddler Bed, to a Daybed and then to a Full-Size Bed. The Toddler Bed Guard Rail and Full-Size Bed Conversion Kit are available to purchase.

A Nursery Dresser That Can Transform Into A Changing Station

Another great way to save space is purchasing a nursery dresser with a changing topper. You can easily covert the dresser into a changing station by mounting the changing tray on its top. This Montauk 3 Drawer Dresser by Oxford Baby comes with ample storage space for all of baby's belongings and specifically designed for smaller spaces. The pre-mounted Euro glide mechanism ensures smooth drawer function, while an anti-tip kit included for added security. This Montauk Dresser can be converted into a changing station with a Montauk changing topper. This dresser is available in barn white and farmhouse gray two finishes to complement your nursery décor.

Using a Chest Instead of a Dresser

If you already have a good spot to make diaper changing, you can ignore the dresser and use a chest to store your baby stuff and keep your nursery organized. A chest drawer is also called tall dresser, usually comes with 5 or 6 drawers with as much space as a horizontal dresser provides. Because a chest is tall, it takes less ground space. Therefore, a chest is a great storage option for small nursery. We recommend this 5-Drawer Chest from Milk Street Baby True collection. This chest features bespoke grain and deeply sandblasted solid Spruce drawer faces that contrast beautifully with the sleekly smooth, painted surfaces, creating an unmistakable design that complements both modern and rustic room styles.

Getting Multi-function Furniture

Multi-function furniture will save you both space and money. For example, a changing station that comes with ample storage will both solve your diaper changing issue and baby stuff organization problem. Take a look of this changing table from Soho Baby Essential Collection (Available in pink, grey and white finishes). The changing top features a secure low railing, ensuring your child and the included changing pad stay in place. Two open shelves provide ample storage for diapers, lotions, and essentials, making every change time a breeze. Another good example is a storage ottoman. You can use it as a footrest or side table, and store some nursery essentials at the same time.

Sum Up

Planning for a nursery is not an easy job but it will save you at least half the time if you can narrow down to the right nursery furniture. If what you have is a small space, the nursery furniture recommended above should be your first considerations. Hope this helps, but if you have further questions about purchasing nursery furniture, Newborn Nursery Furniture is always here to help!

2024.03.07 22:47 CampingWorld How to Renovate an RV

Is it actually cheaper to buy a used RV and renovate it than to buy a new RV?
Many aspiring RVers ask this very question. So we talked to folks who have completed RV renovation projects and asked about their budget, plans, how they found their RV to renovate, and much more.
Here’s a look at how to renovate an RV – and the budget involved – to give it a fresh feel before your next camping season. Even experienced planners need to start with a vision for their completed renovation. Here are some of the coolest renovated RVs we’ve seen.

How Much Does it Cost to Renovate an RV?

RV renovations come in all shapes and sizes, large and small. For example, using a wallboard kit to revive your RV’s interior walls can cost little more than $200, but larger DIY RV renovation projects can easily cost you thousands.
RVers that have completed renovation projects report spending anywhere from $2,000 to $7,000+. But it all depends on the size of your RV and the extent of the renovations undertaken.
Here are a few tips to help you cut costs for your RV renovation:

How Hard is it to Renovate an RV?

Like cost, renovation difficulty varies from project to project. It can be as easy as unscrewing old knobs and screwing in new square knobs to freshen up the look of your RV cabinetry. But it can be as difficult as you want to make it.
Flooring can be a tricky RV renovation project because many manufacturers build RVs from the frame up, meaning the flooring is installed in a singular sheet before base sets are installed on top of it.
A base set is the cabinetry and framework that creates rooms in your RV – bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, etc.
Removing worn RV furniture can also be challenging, as some manufacturers install certain items before the exterior walls are set into place. This means you may have to deconstruct a worn sofa instead of simply removing the bolts securing it to the floor and carrying it out your RV’s door.
Here are some of our favorite easy RV renovation projects:

How to Plan an RV Renovation

There’s no substitute for experiencing what it’s like to live in an RV before starting a renovation.
Misty took this approach:
“I lived in it for a year and figured out what would be beneficial and make life easier. I put shelves in the closet where there was wasted space. Instead of huge open cabinets, I added dividers and shelves. I removed and installed a new dining table to make getting around easier. Then, I installed lights I liked, and now I’m ready to remove and replace the shower door.”
Others take a more systematic tact, like Barbara:
“We made a list of items we liked about our rig, items we didn't like or wanted to change, and things we really wished we had. Then we drew up a floorplan detailing where things were and how they could change. Then started tearing out the old and putting in the new.
“We removed the entire kitchen and changed it to fit our needs – especially since I'm short and upper cabinets are nearly useless for me. We got rid of the oven because, in 11 years, we had only used it once. We removed the bathtub for the same reason. We altered the footprint of the bedroom to accommodate my 6’+ tall husband. Then we put in new floors, cabinets, countertops, etc. We started with a laminate floor we loved and built the coloring around it.”

How to Renovate an RV Interior

When renovating an entire RV interior, work from top to bottom, addressing items like installing a new roof vent fan or reviving worn cabinetry before progressing to upgrading furniture or installing new flooring.
Some RVers also start with their most pressing need, like Remedy:
“Our first travel trailer had no seating. So took out the queen bed and closets on each side. Built platforms for twins and put bolsters like a daybed. Used the closet doors for storage beneath beds. Mounted a TV on the wall. It has a cubby for an old tube TV, so now that’s extra storage. Also installed a small window unit since the original A/C was so loud.”
Keeping it simple is also a great idea if your RV just needs a modest upgrade, like Frances’:
“We removed the little jack-knife couch and replaced it with 2 rocker recliners. Much better! We like everything else just how it is!”
If you’re like Traveling 8 Pack, though, a little more effort can be worth it:
“We took out the U-shape dinette and original couch in the living room of our 2019 bunkhouse so we could put in a sleeper sofa, table, and benches. Then, we covered the window with pic on the side of the slide and ship-lapped wallpaper.”

How to Renovate an RV Bedroom

Aside from full-timers, most of us plan RV trips for adventure, relaxation, or some combination of the two. Your RV’s bedroom must feel peaceful and comfortable to avoid feeling just as tired or burnt out as you were before the trip.
It all starts with the bed, so read our tips on making your RV bed the most comfortable before you progress.
Beyond a comfortable bed, consider your RV entertainment system options, closet storage solutions, nightstand access, and anything else you enjoy in your residential bedroom.

How to Renovate an RV Kitchen

Many campers spend most of their time in their RV's kitchen and living room. If this space isn’t working for your RV lifestyle, it’s time for a makeover. Does your RV feel a bit too cave-like? Many older RVs feature darker cabinetry, so it makes sense to start here if you want to brighten up your space.
Genesis makes a complete cabinet revival kit available in eight colors. It provides a much more cost-effective alternative to ripping out and replacing cabinetry. Plus, it’s easy to apply and has enough peel-and-stick material to cover up to 150 square feet of cabinetry.
Beyond cabinetry, there are more in-depth renovations like installing a new kitchen sink basin, upgrading your cooktop, and reviving worn kitchen countertops. DIY projects like these are a bit more intensive, so you may benefit from professional RV remodel assistance.

How to Renovate Sidewalls of an RV

Wallboard kits are arguably the easiest way to revive your RV’s interior sidewalls. They come with the supplies you need to complete the simple peel-and-stick application, and they’re available in multiple colors and modern designs.
They’re great for renovating older RVs with ominously dark wallpaper or eccentric patterns that have gone out of style. Genesis makes some of the best kits for RV interior wall renovation, and their kits can be used in your RV’s living room, slide-out, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and anywhere else you want to give the walls a facelift.
Sometimes, uplifting the sidewalls completely changes the feel of your RV’s interior. Just ask Charol:
“We did a makeover to our 18' Starcraft camper. All the cabinets were dark brown, including the bathroom door, and the walls were beige.”

How to Renovate an RV Bathroom

An RV bathroom renovation can be as simple as installing a more comfortable RV toilet. I’d rather not tell you how many times I’ve had to remove and replace one of these. It’s never pretty, but things get much easier (and cleaner) once completed.
You can also get creative to satisfy a unique need, like Leigh:
“I added a 2" duct hose from the heater plenum under the tub and exited with a small vent to blow heat into the bathroom. I was my wife's hero to give her some warmth should there be a nighttime need.”
Other, more attractive bathroom renovation ideas include:
For more inspiration, here’s everything you need to upgrade your RV shower.
Your RV renovation project has begun once you have the vision in your head. Here are a few more articles that we hope inspire your next DIY renovation:

2024.03.05 18:12 Alara-7 How to tell a friend they cant come on our spring break trip?

I recently planned a very detailed spring break trip for my friends friend group. It's a road trip that consists of many moving parts that was made with 4 people in mind. I asked our fifth friend multiple times months ago if they could commit to going but they said they couldn't. Suddenly now, 2 weeks before our trip, they're saying that they want to come . We've been over a few options...
They've offered to sleep in a car, but with no equipment and the perspective low temps at night we don't think it's safe, comfortable or fair for them to do so after long days of hiking. The temps at all the national parks and stuff in March are going to be much colder than we anticipated.
Then we thought about sneaking them in to the hotel. All 4 spots are full though so we cannot get a daybed because it would break fire code. While I have snuck people in the past, the friend that booked all the hotels isn't comfortable with sneaking people in in case we got caught and charged. Also they again would have to sleep on the floor which I don't think is sustainable for a whole trip.
The trip is already quite expensive. If we had to rebook all of the hotels, even split 5 ways, they would all be way more expensive as they would have to cover the difference. Which would cost too much for them and if they booked separate hotels that would cost a lot too.
Also my national park pass only covers me and 3 other people so they would have to buy their own separate pass. All of our big extra activities have also all been booked and each activity is usually split between 2 people meaning that they would have to pay for it on their own which would be much more expensive. When money was an issue in the beginning it feels almost wrong for them to have to pay a crazy high price to go on the trip but thats how it would turn out.
I think its just a bit upsetting because I drained myself planning this trip with no help from anyone else, trying to make everyones impossible wishes happen in such a short timeframe while trying to keep everything as cheap as possible. I made sure to ask everyone a million times if they could commit and explained why they needed to do so. Then at the last minute someone wants us to alter everything to fit them in. I also cannot give any more time to altering or planning further because I have a very important exam I need to study for that I am taking 2 days before we leave. On the flip side, If I don't do the planning and changes then no one will.
This has been eating me away because I feel so bad that they cant come now. I would have happily planned the trip for 5 people if they committed sooner. AITA? Is there something I am missing in a way that we could try to fit them in or do my views have legs to stand on?
