2024.05.15 19:20 J_B_1234 Slow Internet speeds on WiFi and Ethernet and I have no idea why.

To start, I have a Desktop PC with an Intel i9 9000k @ 3.6GHz, EVGA Z390 FTW Motherboard, MSI RTX 3080Ti, Corsair Vengeance Pro (16x4) 64GB DDR4 3200 RAM, I have an Archer TXE75E WiFi and Bluetooth PCIe adapter, and run Win 11
My internet should be at 800 down and 20 up as stated by my XB7 Gateway from Xfinity. When testing on Speedtest .net other PCs in my house get that speed if not more, especially on ethernet. However, every 2-3 months (give or take) my PC will suddenly drop speeds down to 40-60 down and 15-20 up. I haven't figured out a reason or a solution for this no matter what I try. This has happened once before, a few months ago and has since gone away on its own, although I only got about 400 down since then (Better but not what I know I can get from my Gateway. A few days ago, it dropped down to 60/20 again, and it interferes with matchmaking and competitive play for games, as well as bitrate for streaming.
Device manager says the device is working properly, but in the events tab I see this on the WiFi adapter:

Here's a list of things that I've tried but haven't fixed the problem.
* Restarted the PC
* Swapped Ethernet cables from a PC that gets regular speeds
* Updated Windows 11
* Made sure metered connection wasn't enable in ethernet settings in windows
* Reinstalled WiFi + Ethernet Drivers
* Made sure the antenna connections to the card were secure
* Made sure connections to the MB and the adapter were secure
* Moved my adapter to a different PCIe slot
* Installed a different PCIe adapter (no change in speed)
I made sure the appropriate drivers were installed as well as removed the old ones
* Forgot network from PC side and rejoined
* Removed PC from Network from Gateway side, rejoined
* Used Command prompt to flush and reset IP settings
* Factory reset Gateway and reset internet from ISP
* Bios update (because of the indifference of ethernet vs WiFi connections)
Left all BIOS settings default so as to not add to my problem
*Used windows repair to make sure it wasn't a Windows problem (it always is)
* Tried messing with properties for the adapter as well as ethernet. i.e. Full duplex vs auto negotiate, prefer 5g, 802.11 /ac/ax/g/b/n and nothing even made a difference that I could tell.
* Checked admin settings on my gateway and made sure there wasn't a limit on my PC specifically from the gateway side
* Even tried to make another account (Local) on my PC to see if it was something to do with that (Different reddit thread said that might be a cause)
Losing my mind over this because nothing seems to work, or even make a difference and I cant figure it out by myself. My thinking is that it;'s not a hardware issue with the card, since switching it out didn't change anything. I'm worried that its a hardware issue with my MB, but that doesn't explain how it was magically fixed by itself last time. Anything that I haven't tried or any good things to check as well would be greatly appreciated!

Currently using Android 15 on my Pixel 6 Pro without issues. When I woke up this morning, the phone was completely bricked. Any time I try to unlock my phone, the phone crashes and then shows a locked screen again. I have managed to figure out that I can call people using google assistant but I can't unlock my phone via thumbprint nor passcode even though it is correct.
I've tried restarting, turning off and on the phone, booting in recovery mode, I think I might have to factory reset it :c

I have recently purchased a raspberry pi 5 as it was on sale because keeping my media on my phone was taking up too much storage space.
I have all my media on a cheap 1TB USB stick (https://amzn.eu/d/46bNSE9). I used OMV to configure shared folders over smb so that I don't have to remove the USB every time i want to add something.
Using Jellyfin on my old-ish android TV (TCL 43C639) it crashes after 3-5 mn of playback. This happened on both the Android TV app and the browser on my Mac. Playback either buffers and completely stops, or simply resets to 00:00 and restarts. I sometimes also get an error messge saying "tried too many times". When i checked Jellyfin log i didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
I installed Jellyfin natively, but i also attempted to run it as a docker container on OMV.
I'm not sure if the connection between my Pi and USB is unstable or what is causing the issue exactly. I tried Plex and the same episode of the same show works without issues.
Has anyone experienced this with Jellyfin?

I’m going to start posting info in here from Facebook group to help users from the ring, I’ve posted these in the group (Pete Lewis) Put together some info on ring syncing issues and battery issues- what to do it may help anyone with any issues especially new users. Hope it helps.
Been some people ring not syncing with the app or new
First of all report all issues and what tried in feedback
How to remove old ring:- Go to :- ( me- settings- ring settings- ring setting tool - remove connected device )
or me- press on the ring at top - ring setting tool - remove connected device .
The old ring must be removed if being replaced.
If new ring ensure the old ring has been removed from app ————————/————
Ring Not Syncing Things to check first
  1. If using VPN turn it off
  2. Ensure Bluetooth enabled
  3. If Android phone, ensure location services enabled, and allow physical activity ticked In permission. Also on Android phones, you sometimes need to clear cache from RingConn app on phone in settings .
  4. Ensure charger and ring charged up, log out app - restart phone - log back into app.
  5. If that does not work try :- put ring into charger, close case -remove app totally from phone - remove ring from Bluetooth in phone - restart phone - reinstall fresh app - - log back into app -open ring case see if ring asks you connect.
  6. The ring may need resetting , put ring in charging case and gently press on back of ring so it clears the contacts 5-7 times - ring should flash blue when reset - repeat until flashes blue, ring should ask to pair with app.
  7. If above does not work remove app from phone and restart the phone - reinstall fresh new app from App Store ( make sure you know password and email address it’s in old app )

BATTERY ISSUES - Follow this guide
Battery issues what to do :- ensure charger charged up - white light on charger and fully charge the ring prior to any reset. Leave ring in charger extra hour over 100% as engineers may ask you to do that
Ensure charger and ring contacts points clean to ensure good contact.
1 . First of all charge ring to 100%.ensuring good charge in charging case (white light) plus 1 hour
  1. Reset the ring - procedure below
  2. Log battery times and discharge times from 100% -20%
  3. Take photos of battery discharge times in app - so it’s time stamped off phone in app to help engineers 100% date time - <20% date time
  4. Repeat this at least twice.
  5. Send all info in feedback in app
7.if it’s a continuous green light on ring inform feedback all you tried to reset it .

Light will flash blue on ring in case when reset
The reason :- engineers need to see you have tried to resolve the issue (they will ask you to reset ring)
Then submit all info into feedback, including log of at least two or more - ring discharge times and any photos from app - this has to go in feedback to engineers to assess ring - the more info the better - the engineers will then contact customer care and give them their recommendations to replace the ring if applicable.

Hi! I recently bought a new unlocked Samsung a53 5g phone (UK)
Have a (silly) question regarding out of date software and security updates and if it's safe to still be using the phone
I went through with the smart switch from my Motorola phone and then ran some updates from the Google play store and the galaxy store
Here's some stats from the settings on the phone
One UI version - 4.1
Android version - 12
Google Play system update - March 1, 2022
Knox version - Knox 3.8, API level 35
Android security patch level - June 1, 2022
When I click on "Software update" then "Download and install" I get "connecting to server..." then "registration failed"
Same error messages when I click on "Biometrics and security" then "security update"
However when in "Biometrics and security" then "Google Play system update" I see "your device is up to date, Android version: 12, Google Play system update: March 1, 2022"
The error messages from above make me feel as though something is off - my question is is it safe for my to use the phone as normal (using banking apps and email etc) given that the security and software updates date back to 2022?
I have already tried booting into safe mode, turning on airplane mode and turning the phone off then back on and turning airplane mode off, factory reset
Any advice or ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

To give a little context, I take the train on a daily basis to work. During the commute I pop in and out of service area so loss of connection is of course expected.
I can however easily say that out of many phones I have used over the years, the Pixel is the worst when it comes to handling these types of situations. The phone will sometimes stay stuck on "No Service" even when immobile for a prolonged time in a fully serviced areas. Sometimes it will finally connect but in 3G (have not seen this icon in a long time) as opposed to 4/5G that are available.
I regularly have to go in the Internet settings to reset them so I can finally get an LTE or 5G signal (at full strength no less). Then on the commute back from work the same issue will happen.
PS. The phone is running Android 14 and updated to the May security updates, no improvements to report unfortunately.
EDIT: forgot to mention that I'm using a Pixel 7a and living in Belgium

Before update I was playig fine. I've downloaded the update on my Huawei Y9a mobile device. The game launches fine, when I enter my login info the problem starts. The Username and Password images disappear from the screen and it gets stuck there endlessly.
It sucks because I only play mobile and just baught 30 days premium on my eu account.is there anyone else with this issue or am I alone?

Ive uninstalled, cleared cache and game fine I even went as far as resetting my game phone to factory setting and starting fresh. I've downloaded APKs from various sources and all give same issue....

2024.05.15 14:15 ShitMinEng ROG PHONE 6 freezes and shuts down when camera is opened

So, I bought my ROG Phone 6, like 1.5 years ago and I was mostly happy with it. A few weeks ago, the phone freezes and shuts down when every time I open camera, even when I use the camera from another app. At first, clearing the cache and force stop of the camera app prior to opening the camera helped a little, but not any more. When it shuts down it fails to restart for a couple of times (logo comes up and restarts again), but it usually turns on eventually. A few days ago it didn't turn on at all, so I had to do a factory reset through Android recovery mode. It worked fines for a couple of days but then it started to act up again.
I contacted Asus support in Australia, they said send it to us, but we will have an assessment fee of $100 on top of shipping to Sydney (because obviously they don't have an effing support centre in Brisbane), and then they will tell me how much the repair costs! So my cheap ego thought I should first see if anyone else experienced this and how much did it cost them.
P.S. I am so upset now that I think I should never buy anything Asus anymore. Effing hell!

I am really struggling to get OxygenOS 14 to behave anything like OxygenOS 10 on my old OnePlus7 Pro. Unfortunately it feels like with each succussive Android update I lose features, I don't gain features.
I have my Do Not Disturb settings set for 0 App exceptions and contacts set to favorites. I have all my Messages App notifications set to not allow notifications when do not disturb is on.
However, when I get a text message from a stared contact when DnD is enabled, my phone processes it as if DnD was not on at all. Notification tone, vibrate, etc.
How it used to work in OxygenOS10 was started contacts would be allowed to call, but everything else was muted. That is what I want.
I really hate bitching online about changes, but every time I made a major jump in Android it was a downgrade in functionality. I factory reset and went from OOS11 to OOS10 on my OnePlus7 because OO11 removed so many features I used daily. Unfortunately I was forced to replace my OnePlus7 and no I am paying for it. My 'smart phone' isn't smart anymore.
  • DnD no longer has a setting to 'enable until next alarm'
  • DnD no longer has an enable option to DnD for the next X hours.
  • Notifications are not persistent on the lock screen anymore, one look and they're gone! (This is the dumbest feature of them all)
  • Apparently DnD allows texts from started contacts now
  • Cannot disable Google feed in home screen anymore
  • Removed option for L2TP VPN
  • The 'Shelf' us 100% useless without the ability to use custom widgets
What is OnePlus doing? It feels like they're coasting. They continue to remove useful features and add useless ones. It honestly feels like an Apple keynote where they spend 25 minutes talking about how they have revolutionized cellphones because you can now sort your contacts by last name or first name!

I've been using Moonlight as a kind of local RDP for the past few months, but this morning it suddenly stopped being able to connect to my PC. At first I thought it was just Moonlight, but I found I was also unable to connect via RDP or even SSH. After significant amounts of troubleshooting, I found the issue: all network PCs can no longer reach each other on my network.
While the local DNS does resolve hostnames to their IPs, attempting to ping my host PC from another computer times out, but so does pinging it or my laptop from my phone. Connecting all devices to another network causes them all to be able to reach each other successfully with no other configuration changes made.
I have tried restarting all systems, flushing the DNS, release/renewing the IP address, setting them both to the same subnet mask, disabling the firewall, and resetting my entire network configuration on the host PC.
Does anyone know how this could happen?

Ang ginawa ko ni reset ko sa dalawang modem. Pagkatapos, log in nung lumang pass na nakalagay sa. Ilalim ng modem.
Ang lumalabas IP configuration failure, then sa isang wifi modem naman saved/ won't automatically connect.
Bali naka red yung WAN and Pair. (royal cable/skyworth wifi mesh router) Then sa HUAWEI naman blinking yung 2 green. (LAN3 LAN4) the rest standby yung green
Paano kaya gagawin dito? WFH pa naman ako. At medyo mahina signal ng data sa amin 😅.

Hi! Just unboxed my new Nova Pro Wireless (PC+PS5) last night and I'm having some trouble.
When I plug in the headset via USBC (either to my PC or an outlet), the little white light flashes. If I turn the plugged in headset on, I get a constant 4-beep-descending-sound loop (the low battery sound?). I've left it "charging" using both of these methods ways for several hours each now, but each time I unplug it and try turning it on, nothing happens.
The charging station is also faulty. Either battery just says it's empty and not charging, according to the display.
Plugging the headset to my PC, the GG software says the battery is at exactly 37% and this number never changes.
I've performed the latest software update already. The battery problem was there before and after the update, the only thing that changed through the update was the charging station showing me an icon for an empty battery when I insert one (before the update the display didn't show the battery icon).
By the way, the plugged in headset does play my PC's sound and the microphone works too, over the low battery sound loop. But it does technically work!
The Steelseries service site tells me to change USB sockets, leave it charging for 2 hours, and ultimately wait 48 hours for the "battery to drain completely and do a factory reset" or contact an agent. I've done the first 2, should I do the factory reset or is there something obvious I'm missing?

It's time to replace the Moto G6 Plus of my mother-in-law. Looking for something reliable, no need to have all the bells and whistles.
It's been a while since I have been in the Android market, so dunno how is it at the moment. The only certain thing is that Xiaomi, Realme, Huawei and similar are not an option.
I think that just sticking with either a Moto or a Samsung will be good enough for her, but which one do you recommend for that budget?

Anyone know if Anthropic changed Claude Opus in anyway since it's release? I've used it in chatbot arena and the dialogue was crazy good, almost felt like talking to a person. (there were several examples around reddit)
I'm thinking about subscribing but I really wanna know if they changed any parameters or something with the updates? Not asking about the amount we can prompt, I know we went from unlimited to a 5h "limit" that resets your tokens.
I'm asking this as chatgpt had a bunch of changes, mainly due to security and "jailbreaks"...
Also is there any info on android app release?
