2024.05.29 08:29 FlyBambi Letter to my husband (separated, living under one roof, I am crumbling). Seeking advice

Hey dear fellow LBLs, my cookie cutter story: I've always been into girls/women, but it took me decades to finally figure out that I'm actually not into men. I told my husband 6 months ago, he struggled with acceptance, we're currently still cohabitating with our kids and I fear that he's getting too comfortable with the shared living. We rent together. He works a lot and I work too, but I also handle most of the house and child care, and I work from home a lot. He has the master room for himself, I am sharing a bed with our youngest kid.
When he comes home, I feel like I can't breathe. He doesn't get it and states that I should move out, not him. He feels this home is his as much as mine, but I disagree, and I want to write him an honest letter to explain my feelings. But I can't decide if it's a good decision to write that or not. I don't even know my goal with this, other than to explain my feelings. I know I can't actually demand from him to move out.
I would appreciate any feedback. Here's what I plan on sending him (of course with some more personal context, introduction etc.):
"... For me, the house has a different significance as a home than it does for you. I spend a large part of my life here.
The moment you come home, the whole house is suddenly public, it no longer feels like my sphere. You spread out, put your stuff everywhere, you do what you want and I feel oppressed in "my" space. I withdraw into myself and then look for my home "inside me", but unfortunately I get really irritated about it all. I don't want to blame you, because yes, you live here too. But over the past 6 years, I've spent thousands of hours at home alone or with the kids when you weren't there. I work from home most of the time. I was also on parental leave. I've done thousands, maybe tens of thousands of hours of care work at home while you were here, but mostly when you weren't here.
I chose and bought almost everything that was purchased here during that time, from furniture to pillows and cups and decoration and kids' clothes and toys, and I regularly clean it out again. I do at least 90% of the housework that comes up when I'm at home with the kids or that comes up anyway and that I do best when I'm home alone. I do it invisibly - I realize that you don't notice that at all, you're out and about. But for me, this feels like MY SPACE. And when you're there, you invade this space (this is purely emotional), and that constricts me and stresses me out mentally and physically.
To be honest, that's not even a new feeling. It's been like this for a long time, and if we'd had the intimacy in our relationship where you were part of my 'closest' space, it might not cause this stress response, but unfortunately we never did have that intimacy and the stress response is real.
I am trying not to let it show, but I know you can tell. You arrive home and would probably wish to be welcomed lovingly, as any family member, but I can't do it.
It doesn't even have anything to do with my feelings for you. It doesn't mean I don't love you as a person. You're probably aware of this ambivalence, sometimes we get on really well and there's a lot of love between us, and then I'm so dismissive again. That has to do with it. As a person, I love you and enjoy spending time with you. But in our relationship and in living together, due to a lack of emotional intimacy, the shared living space triggers this stress reaction when you simply claim 'my' perceived space as yours as a matter of course. Claiming the nicest room in the house. I don't even have my own bed. ..."

2024.05.29 08:26 Alert-Property-8891 Recently realized my mom is one…

Im a 32(f) and I’ve been struggling with the relationship I have with my parents for over a decade. My sister (whom I’m extremely close to, roughly the same age) started going to therapy a few years ago and shared that her therapist thought my mom could be a narcissist. I ignored her because during this time she was planning a wedding and I did just kind of felt she was being slightly dramatic. Anyway, my mom had multiple extremely traumatic events in her childhood, which she actually didn’t share with us until a few years ago. The worst is probably that she was a burn victim at a very young age, unfortunately though, she does clearly remember the incident and medical care for this injury was really disgusting in the 1970s. Additionally, this wasn’t something we weren’t aware of, we all saw the scars (covered majority of her torso), our parents just never told us what happened. As far back as I can remember, she has self medicated with alcohol. I wouldn’t necessarily call it alcoholism (because I have a friend in AA) but it was definitely a daily habit, and I hated when she was drunk. The fire happened around Christmas and she blames her parents for being neglectful and causing the fire, so this time of year she is very volatile. I don’t remember a single Christmas she wasn’t hammered and screaming, and this year was no exception. My siblings no longer stay with them over the holidays because of her behavior, and it makes me feel bad they’re alone so I always make an effort to stay with them. This year both my parents passed out while we were watching a movie and at the very end she woke up and started screaming at me because I was on my phone (literally texting my brother) and not watching the movie. My mom gets very upset when she feels people are not paying attention to her and are on their phones, so I’m very careful to not do this while I’m visiting. I exploded because I sat through the entire movie while they were sleeping and still got yelled at, I packed my stuff and left in the middle of the night. I have not spoken to them since because after I left, she called my sister and told her that I WAS DRUNK and blew up on her and that because of this she thought I HAD A DRINKING PROBLEM 😂😭 This crossed the line for me due to her past, but also mine because I was kind of rebellious in my early 20s and made a lot of mistakes, and they still make feel bad for these things even though we’ve had endless conversations about how bad I felt for my poor decisions and my acomplishments since. The majority of my 20’s she didn’t speak to me, and I wasn’t the first family member she cut out. Every sibling that her & my dad have she has cut out for extended periods of time during my life. Currently, she isn’t speaking to her brother and that’s been since before covid but she also cut out her best childhood friend because they disagreed on the COVID shenanigans. This friend was also my sisters godmother, and my mom forced her to uninvite her godmother to the wedding. As a general rule of thumb, everything I say, if she disagrees or remembers it differently, she calls me a liar and tells me to go to confession. She also loves to call me a thief (no clue where that stems from lol) but another Christmas we got in argument during a long car ride and she accused me of stealing her phone charger (generic apple charger), she would not stop screaming at me and pulled over in the middle of nowhere and left me. Thankfully, my phone was charged lmao 🤣 I made the mistake of communicating with my uncle after my mom cut him out, and he even told me that he’d always tried to make up for the way my parents treated me by doing special things that they did for my siblings but excluded me from. He also eluded to the idea that my mom had behavioral issues but it seemed like he felt she just had an anger problem. At the time, I was on good terms with my parents and I brushed off the things he said, but when they found out I was in communication with him I was cut out again for a few months. Looking back, he gave me a car after my parents gave my brother and sister cars and helped me with college knowing they weren’t, and I feel guilty now for not seeing it sooner. I don’t know how to move forward from this because I want to have strong relationships with the rest of my family but I just can’t be around her, she criticizes every word that comes out of my mouth and calls me fat (I’m not overweight lmao) and belittles me to the point I just see red. Help.

Exploring $POWSCHE: A Unique Blend of Car Culture and Cryptocurrency
Hello CryptoMars community,
I’ve recently discovered an intriguing project called $POWSCHE, a memecoin on the Solana blockchain that aims to merge the excitement of car culture with the innovative world of cryptocurrency.
This project has some ambitious plans, including livestreaming the burning of a Tesla at a $50M market cap while simultaneously giving away another Tesla to a single mother in need. Additionally, they plan to burn a Lamborghini at a $100M market cap and give away a Porsche 911 at a $500M market cap!
Here are a few discussion points I’d love to get your thoughts on:
  1. Do you think projects like $POWSCHE, which combine real-world assets and events with cryptocurrency, can drive more mainstream interest in crypto?
  2. What impact do you believe these high-profile events (like car burnings and giveaways) will have on the market perception and value of the memecoin?
  3. Are there other innovative ways you’ve seen or can imagine that can merge physical assets with blockchain technology to create engaging community experiences?
  4. What are the potential risks and rewards for investors in a project that uses such unconventional marketing strategies?
I’m excited to hear your opinions and insights on this unique approach. Do you think $POWSCHE has the potential to create a lasting impact in the crypto space and beyond?
Looking forward to a lively discussion!

Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your strategies, this guide is designed to help beginners like you navigate the exciting world of real estate investing.
If you've ever wondered how to get started in real estate investing or how to make money in real estate, you've come to the right place. We'll cover everything from understanding the basics of real estate investing to practical tips for success in the market.

How to get started in Real Estate Investing?

First things first, let's demystify the world of real estate investing for beginners. It's all about leveraging properties to generate passive income and build long-term wealth. Whether you're eyeing residential homes, commercial spaces, or even vacant land, there's ample opportunity awaiting you.

Step 1: Define Your Goals and Strategy

Before diving headfirst into the market, take a moment to clarify your objectives. Are you aiming for steady rental income, capital appreciation, or a mix of both? Understanding your goals will shape your investment strategy and guide your decision-making process.

Step 2: Educate Yourself

Knowledge is power in real estate investing for beginners. Take the time to educate yourself on market trends, property valuation, financing options, and legal considerations. Attend workshops, read books, and follow reputable online resources (like Passive Advantage!) to expand your understanding.

Step 3: Set Your Budget

Establishing a budget is crucial for real estate investing success. Determine how much you can afford to invest, factoring in upfront costs like down payments, closing costs, and renovation expenses. Be realistic about your financial capabilities to avoid overextending yourself.

Step 4: Research Properties

Now comes the fun part—scouting for properties that align with your investment goals. Explore different neighborhoods, evaluate property listings, and conduct thorough due diligence. Consider factors such as location, rental demand, property condition, and potential for appreciation.

Step 5: Secure Financing

Unless you're sitting on a pile of cash, you'll likely need financing to fund your real estate investments. Explore mortgage options, compare interest rates, and consult with lenders to secure the best terms possible. Remember to factor in your credit score, debt-to-income ratio, and down payment requirements.

Step 6: Make Your Move

With your strategy in place and financing secured, it's time to make your move in the market. Submit offers, negotiate terms, and seal the deal on your chosen properties. Whether you're buying rental properties, flipping houses, or investing in REITs, take decisive action to move closer to your financial goals.

Step 7: Manage Your Investments

Once you've acquired properties, it's essential to manage them effectively to maximize returns. Stay proactive with tenant screening, property maintenance, and financial management. Consider enlisting the help of property management services to well run operations and reduce the burden of day-to-day tasks.

Step 8: Monitor and Adjust

Real estate investing is an evolving journey, so don't forget to monitor your investments regularly. Keep tabs on market trends, rental rates, and property performance. Be prepared to adjust your strategy as needed to stay competitive and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Step 9: Celebrate Your Success

As you watch your real estate portfolio grow and thrive, take a moment to celebrate your success. Reflect on how far you've come and the milestones you've achieved along the way. Remember, real estate investing is a marathon, not a sprint, so enjoy the journey and keep aiming higher.By defining your goals and strategy, assessing your risk tolerance, considering your time horizon, diversifying your investment portfolio, planning your exit strategy, conducting market analysis, and developing a comprehensive financial plan, you can lay the foundation for a successful and rewarding journey in real estate investing. Remember to stay informed, remain disciplined, and continuously monitor and adjust your investment strategy to achieve your long-term financial goals and build wealth through real estate investing.

How to Make Money in Real Estate:

Now that you're ready to start investing, let's discuss how to make money in real estate. Here are some common strategies: Rental Income

One of the most popular ways to make money in real estate is through rental income. By purchasing a property and renting it out to tenants, you can generate a steady stream of passive income each month.

Property Appreciation

Over time, real estate has historically appreciated in value, meaning the value of your investment properties may increase over time. This can allow you to sell the property for a profit down the line.

Flipping Houses

Another strategy is to buy properties that need some TLC, renovate them, and then sell them for a higher price—a process known as flipping houses. While this can be more hands-on and require more upfront capital, it can also yield substantial profits if done correctly.

Short-Term Rentals

With the rise of platforms like Airbnb, short-term rentals have become a lucrative option for real estate investors. By renting out properties on a short-term basis, you can often command higher rental rates and maximize your income.
Real estate investing for beginners holds immense potential for building wealth and achieving financial freedom. Are you ready to take the first step towards making money in the exciting world of real estate? Let's embark on this journey together! 2024.05.29 08:24 CraftingDabbler First time parents asking for tips on sleeping schedules

Hi all. My family is happy to welcome a cute little daughter. She has a strong personality and often wakes up intermitently at night. This makes it hard to plan for a good night of sleep.
We are planning to have schedules when taking care of the baby at night to allow for one of us to catch up on sleep.
We are not sure what will be a good plan to have. My partner works a full time job Monday to Friday. He is trying to negotiate for days off during the week to spend more time with our daughter. I have taken maternity leave for the next 6 months. I will probably extend it depending on how the little one progress.
Can I get some advice on what worked for you?
Thank you

2024.05.29 08:24 TheLotStore The Future of Real Estate: Opportunities in Cheap Land Sales

The Future of Real Estate: Opportunities in Cheap Land Sales
The Future of Real Estate: Opportunities in Cheap Land Sales
Potential in Inexpensive Land Sales: The Future of Real EstateAs the global population grows, the demand for real estate is increasing. With limited space in prime locations, developers and investors are turning to inexpensive land sales to secure valuable assets at lower prices. This trend is creating new opportunities for those interested in entering the real estate market or expanding their current portfolios. This article explores the future of real estate and the potential offered by inexpensive land sales. It delves into the advantages of investing in low-cost land, the possibilities for profit and expansion, and the difficulties and uncertainties associated with this type of investment. Additionally, it discusses the influence of technology and evolving consumer preferences on the real estate industry, and how inexpensive land sales fit into this changing landscape.Advantages of Investing in Inexpensive LandOne primary benefit of investing in inexpensive land is the potential for significant returns on investment. When purchased at a low cost, land has the potential to appreciate in value over time, especially as urbanization continues to drive up the demand for developable land. In many cases, low-cost land can be found in emerging areas with high growth potential, making it an appealing option for astute investors seeking to capitalize on future development.Additionally, inexpensive land can offer a lower entry barrier for those wishing to start in real estate. With lower initial costs, investors can assume higher levels of risk and potentially reap greater rewards. This can be particularly enticing for individuals or small-scale investors looking to build their portfolios without committing large amounts of capital.Potential for Profit and ExpansionInvesting in inexpensive land sales offers the potential for substantial profit and growth. As land values increase over time, investors can realize significant returns when selling or developing the property. This is especially valid in areas experiencing rapid urbanization or gentrification, where land prices are expected to rise as demand outpaces supply.Inexpensive land sales can also present development opportunities, whether for residential, commercial, or industrial purposes. By purchasing land at a low cost, investors can capitalize on the potential for future development and construction, turning a modest investment into substantial profit. This can be particularly lucrative in areas with high demand for new housing, businesses, or infrastructure.Furthermore, inexpensive land sales can provide investors with the flexibility to hold onto the property as a long-term investment. By waiting for the right market conditions or development opportunities, investors can maximize their returns and achieve sustained growth over time.Challenges and UncertaintiesWhile investing in inexpensive land sales offers the potential for significant profit and growth, it is not without challenges and risks. One of the primary risks associated with inexpensive land is the potential for the property to remain undeveloped or stagnant in value. In some cases, inexpensive land may be located in areas with limited growth potential, making it difficult to realize returns on the investment.Additionally, investing in inexpensive land sales requires careful due diligence and research. Investors must consider factors such as zoning regulations, environmental concerns, and infrastructure availability, all of which can impact the property's future development potential. Without a thorough understanding of these factors, investors may face obstacles that prevent them from realizing the full potential of their investment.Another challenge associated with inexpensive land sales is the need for capital to develop the property. While purchasing land at a low cost is an attractive proposition, the costs associated with development, construction, and infrastructure can quickly add up. Investors must carefully consider these expenses and establish a clear plan for financing and executing the development of the property.Influence of Technology and Evolving Consumer PreferencesThe real estate industry is continually evolving, driven by technological advancements and shifting consumer preferences. In recent years, technology has played a significant role in shaping how people buy, sell, and invest in real estate. From online property listings to virtual tours and digital transactions, technology has made the real estate market more accessible and transparent than ever before. One of the key trends that has emerged in the real estate industry is the rise of sustainability and eco-friendly development practices. As consumers become more environmentally conscious, there is a growing demand for sustainable, green-focused developments. This trend has the potential to impact the value and desirability of inexpensive land sales, as investors and developers seek to capitalize on the demand for eco-friendly properties.Additionally, changing consumer preferences are influencing the types of developments that are in high demand. From mixed-use developments that combine residential, commercial, and retail spaces to community-focused projects that emphasize walkability and proximity to amenities, there is a shift towards more integrated and holistic approaches to real estate development. Inexpensive land sales present an opportunity for investors and developers to capitalize on these trends by creating innovative and appealing properties that align with consumer preferences.Role of Inexpensive Land Sales in the Future of Real EstateAs the real estate industry continues to evolve, inexpensive land sales are likely to play a significant role in shaping the future of the market. With the rise of urbanization and the demand for new housing, infrastructure, and commercial developments, there is a growing need for affordable and accessible land. Inexpensive land sales present an opportunity for investors and developers to acquire valuable assets at a lower cost, positioning them for future growth and profit.Furthermore, the impact of technology and changing consumer preferences is expected to create new opportunities and challenges for those involved in inexpensive land sales. Investors and developers will need to adapt to these changes by utilizing technology to streamline processes, enhance the sustainability and desirability of their developments, and align with consumer preferences.Ultimately, inexpensive land sales offer an attractive opportunity for individuals and businesses seeking to invest in real estate. With the potential for significant profit and growth, coupled with the ability to take advantage of changing market dynamics, inexpensive land sales present a compelling option for those looking to capitalize on the future of real estate. However, investors must carefully consider the challenges and risks associated with investing in inexpensive land and develop a clear and informed strategy for achieving success.

Long Term Financial Goal through Real Estate Investing

Embarking on the journey towards financial independence is to setting sail on a vast ocean, filled with possibilities and challenges alike. For me, the beacon guiding this voyage has been the pursuit of long-term financial goals, anchored by strategic real estate investments. In this discussion, I'll search into the essence of long-term financial goals, elucidate the roadmap to financial independence, and shed light on how real estate serves as a cornerstone in this quest.

Understanding Long-Term Financial Goals

For me, long-term financial goals are the compass points that chart the course of my financial journey over an extended period. These goals extend beyond immediate needs and desires, encompassing aspirations such as retirement planning, wealth accumulation, and legacy building. They serve as the bedrock of financial stability and security, providing a roadmap for navigating the ebbs and flows of life's financial landscape.
Defining Financial Freedom
At the heart of my pursuit lies the concept of financial freedom—a state where I have the autonomy to make choices based on personal fulfillment rather than financial constraints. Financial freedom is not merely the absence of debt or the accumulation of wealth; it is the ability to live life on my own terms, free from the shackles of financial dependence.
Navigating the Path to Financial Independence
Becoming financially independent is a journey that requires foresight, discipline, and strategic planning. It begins with defining clear financial goals, assessing my current financial status, and devising a roadmap to bridge the gap between the two. Key components of this journey include budgeting, saving, investing wisely, and continuously reassessing and readjusting the course as circumstances evolve.

The Role of Real Estate Investing

Real estate investing emerges as a cornerstone in my pursuit of long-term financial goals and financial independence. Unlike volatile financial markets, real estate offers stability, tangible assets, and multiple avenues for wealth creation. Through rental income, property appreciation, and tax advantages, real estate investments serve as a reliable source of passive income and a hedge against inflation over time.

Strategies for Real Estate Investment Success

To harness the full potential of real estate investing in achieving long-term financial goals, I must adopt a strategic approach. This includes conducting thorough market research, diversifying investment portfolios, leveraging financing options, and maintaining properties for optimal returns. Additionally, staying informed about market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes is crucial for making informed investment decisions.

Setting the Course for Long-Term Financial Goals:

Before we embark on our journey, let's take a moment to envision our destination. What does financial independence look like for you in the long term? Whether it's retiring early, traveling the world, or simply enjoying peace of mind knowing our financial future is secure, real estate investing can serve as a compass guiding us toward our desired destination.

Charting a Path with Real Estate Investments

Now that we've set our sights on long-term financial goals, let's explore how real estate investing can help us reach them:

2024.05.29 08:19 guptaamanrealestate How I Achieved Financial Freedom: My Journey from a ₹1,712 Salary to Passive Income

Imagine starting your career with a monthly salary of just ₹1,712. That's where my journey began, and today, I'm proud to say that a significant portion of my needs are met through diverse income streams, including passive income, real estate investments, and a part-time YouTube channel. In this blog post, I want to share my story and the lessons I've learned along the way, in the hope that it inspires and guides others on their own path to financial freedom.
The Early Days: Laying the Foundation My first brush with earning money came during my 12th standard, when I took up part-time jobs in catering services to support my family. It was hard work for little pay, but it instilled in me a deep appreciation for the value of money.
Fast forward a few years, and I landed my first full-time job in the manufacturing industry. The pay was meager, but I saw it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Over the next 5 years, I worked across different domains, gaining valuable experience and skills. I also invested in my education, earning certifications and an MBA to boost my career prospects.
Navigating the World of Investments As my income grew, I ventured into the world of investments. But I made my fair share of mistakes along the way. Here are some key lessons I learned:
  1. Don't follow the herd mentality. I often bought or sold stocks based on market sentiment or the advice of others, without doing my own research. This led to panic selling during downturns and buying high during bull runs.
  2. Educate yourself. After realizing my mistakes, I took a 6-month break from investing to focus on learning. I read extensively about personal finance, investment strategies, and how to analyze companies and sectors. This knowledge has been invaluable in making informed decisions.
  3. Invest for the long-term. Trying to time the market is futile. Instead, I've learned to invest in quality assets and hold them for the long haul, riding out short-term fluctuations.
  4. Diversify your portfolio. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. My current asset allocation is roughly:
    • 40% in high-risk investments like mutual funds and stocks
    • 20% in debt instruments like fixed deposits and EPF
    • 20% in real estate (more on this later)
    • 10% in gold
    • 10% in emergency funds
Exploring Real Estate Investments One of the key additions to my investment portfolio has been real estate. I started by purchasing a small residential property and renting it out. The rental income not only covered the mortgage payments but also generated a positive cash flow. Over time, I reinvested the profits into additional properties, slowly building a real estate portfolio that now accounts for a significant portion of my passive income.
However, it's essential to approach real estate investments with caution. Thorough research, due diligence, and a clear understanding of the market dynamics are crucial to success in this domain.
Launching a Part-Time YouTube Channel Another unconventional income stream I've explored is starting a YouTube channel. Combining my passion for personal finance with my desire to help others, I created a channel where I share my experiences, insights, and tips on money management, investing, and financial planning.
While it took time and effort to build an audience, the channel now generates a steady part-time income through ad revenue and sponsorships. More importantly, it has become a platform for me to give back to the community and make a positive impact on people's financial lives.
Building Multiple Income Streams In addition to my investments, real estate, and YouTube channel, I've also focused on building other income streams:
The idea is to have a diverse range of income sources, so that if one stream faces challenges, the others can provide stability and support.
Advice for the Journey Wherever you are on your personal finance journey, remember these key takeaways:
  1. Start early. The sooner you begin saving and investing, the more time you have to benefit from compound interest and build wealth.
  2. Continuously educate yourself. Keep learning about personal finance, investing, and wealth-building strategies. Adapt your approach as you gain knowledge and experience.
  3. Diversify your income streams. Explore different avenues for earning money, both active and passive. This helps mitigate risk and provides greater financial security.
  4. Surround yourself with a supportive network. Connect with like-minded individuals who can offer guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback on your journey.
Achieving financial freedom is not an overnight process. It requires discipline, patience, and a willingness to learn and adapt. By starting early, continuously educating yourself, diversifying your income streams, and surrounding yourself with a supportive network, you can pave the way for a financially secure and fulfilling future.
Remember: Your journey to financial freedom starts today!

2024.05.29 08:19 cherubsnail I cant eat or sleep because of spiraling and idk how to handle it

Long story short my obsessions regarding my relationship revolve around checking constantly if my bf still loves me or not and analyising every single detail of everything to see if he does, mostly because hes not an affectionate person and that highly triggers me. Also i have to admit that i spend most of the day thinking about him, idk im just obsessed and its been this way since we got toghether two years ago. The thing is, our relationship was facing some problems, in part because of some of my ocd traits, but mostly because my boyfriend has a diagnosed but untreated raging bpd so lately hes facing a lot of episodes and tends to be in a shitty mood pretty much often and lashes out on me and he tries to make me happy but sometimes he just seems so detached and uninterested in me and just doesnt care about how i feel and the fact that i get triggered by that triggers him more and the cycle continues. the other day he splitted on me and told me he wasnt in love with me and just loved me as a friend and wanted to see other people so we needed to break up,, i accepted it but told him we couldnt be friends at least for now because i was still in love with him and that made him enter in a huge mental breakdown in which he spent like two days ranting about how life without me made him feel "empty and dead" and couldnt continue with his projects if i wasnt his friend and talked to him like nothing happened. then the next day he texted me to say that he was in love with me but just had some issues with some things of me that bothers him and that he felt bad for hurting me and saying those things and we needed a to take a lil break so we could get our shit toghether. i know that splitting is a very common bpd symptom but his words sounded so serious and idk what to think. our plan was getting back toghether under some strict conditions, one of them being him starting therapy. i want to respect this break and then talk with him more calmly but my mind is full of intrusive thoughts about him lying to me (its not the first time he splits and says smth like that), him cheating, the things he said when he splitted (like, i cant stop repeating the messages word by word in my head all the time) or him just keeping hurting me in general. And the worst of it is that everytime i start ruminating its like i cant keep going with my life, my brsin tells me that i cant sleep, eat or do my chores if i dont solve this thing and get answers fast. Honestly im aware that maybe im just trying to give another chance to someone that doesnt give a f about me but regardless of that i want to respect this break we are taking and not rush things up or keep sending him dms to seek reassurance so we have time to think but resisting the compulsions is becoming a torture for me. i cant eat or sleep, im barely able to finish my college projects, i have troubles keeping conversations, i start feeling super anxious out of nowhere and shut down, and it only goes away when i give up on the compulsion (i did it like two or three times already and yes, i feel ashamed and scared). anyone has a tip on how to calm down? i was doing improvements with my ocd in therapy but then this happened and now my brain wont shut tf up and let me do basic things like feeling hunger or fall asleep or just focus on something for more than 10 minutes, and if it wasnt that big of a deal i would be able to just use the skills my therapist teached me but i simply cant control it this time and its starting to scare me :(

2024.05.29 08:18 ciarakatarina1 My Toxic Mother

Background: My mother has always been an alcoholic and codependent on men her whole life (Grey Goose Vodka being her drink of chose). Every man she had chosen including my father were all physically and mentally abusive to her. She dated this one guy for four years when I was a young teenager that used to psychologically mess with mine and my brother’s head to make sure we understood that we were just their little slaves who were only good for cleaning the house and washing cars. We weren’t allowed to just be kids. Mom always treated me and my brother like inconveniences in her life. When we were kids, she would flick cigarettes on the ground and she would watch as we picked them up off the ground for her. Otherwise she would completely isolate herself from us and never come out of her room where she drank herself to sleep at night.
I always gave her grace. Always forgave her for treating me less than her own flesh and blood. She never let me confine in her or come to her for anything because she would tell me I should “just get over it.” Or that it was my fault for one reason or another. Despite that though, I continued to give her the benefit of the doubt and loved her anyways. I always thought that maybe she loved me and didn’t know how to show it. Now as an adult in my late 20s, I was just starting to detach from her emotionally thinking that it was best for me to finally move on and break free from her abuse.
Fast forward to two months ago:
My mom had gotten super drunk and had been having arguments/ fights with my current step-dad. Well something happened and she suffered a massive head trauma to the brain. A Careflight helicopter had to get her from her house. She had no pulse and they worked on her the entire way to the hospital. Their home actually became a potential crime scene because they saw she had fucking bruises all over her body. My stepfather is under investigation for possibly causing the injury. It is confirmed he has physically abused both by kicking her and punching her on her arms and legs but there is not hard evidence that he caused the brain injury.
My mom had to undergo not one but two brain surgeries because the head trauma had caused intense bleeding in her brain and they had found fractures of her skull in her brain. They had these two brain tubes that went straight into her head to drain the loose blood out. She was like that for two weeks. The doctors said she was lucky to be alive. They also said that they believed my step-father did it because there was no way a person could cause that themselves.
Well a few days went by and something went terribly wrong. They pulled the tubes from her head and she started going into shock. She went unconscious and I was there freaking out thinking she was going to die before my eyes. The doctors had me leave the room and I had a terrible meltdown right there in one of the hallways at the hospital. She ended up surviving the surgery again.
The doctors had to cauterize a main artery in the brain this time. Luckily, they saw she had lots of healthy arteries so they were willing to take the risk.
She was in a coma after that for a whole week. One day during that week we were going to have a meeting on whether it was time to let her go. But the day before the meeting she woke up from the coma. It was another miracle. She would get better every day after that. She eventually got into Rehab early May.
While all of this is happening, I did all of mom’s insurance claims and talked with the investigator on mom’s case. I did all of her medical paperwork and did everything I could to protect her. During her stay at the hospital, my step-father wasn’t allowed to see her at the hospital. All the doctors in that hospital that worked on her case said they believed he did it. He had to have an armed guard with him during visitation.
Unfortunately, before she could be admitted to the new rehab facility, the Director of the facility said the only way they will take her in is if I agreed to let my step-father have free rein to come and go as he pleases because they don’t have the security staff to escort him and he is not technically convicted yet. I reluctantly agreed because what other choice did I have? She had to have rehab.
Well, my step-father has been with her now the entire time she has been in rehab. Brainwashing her into believing he didn’t do it (because she doesn’t remember how the accident happened). She has admitted several times he had hit her but her memory is so fragile that she doesn’t remember admitting his abuse to the doctors. That then told me about it. (They still won’t do anything about it ironically)
The doctors are suggesting she go to another rehab in the next two weeks that is supposed to be good for psychiatric treatment. My step-father doesn’t want her to go because maybe the truth will come out. So he has convinced her not to go.
Fast forward again two weeks later:
I went to go see my mom. She immediately asked, “what do you want” like I was already unwanted in her eyes. I had waited an hour for her in her room at the rehab while her and my-stepfather got done eating at the cafe downstairs before they finally headed back to her room. I didn’t feel comfortable talking with my stepfather around but mom said “whatever you want to say to me you can say in front of my husband”.
I tried to ask her why she didn’t want to go to the other rehab to get treatment for her alcoholism (which apparently my step-father already convinced her not to go). That she made me a promise to make better decisions for herself like getting psychiatric treatment which she could get at this next rehab. I told her I watched her die and be brought back to life and was with her the whole month she was at the hospital taking care of her. I did all her medical paperwork, and had next of kin rights to make the best decisions for her then.
She said, “okay so?” That’s what I got from her after thinking I had lost her and took care of her all that time.
My stepfather tried to cut me off while I was talking and I said "I wasn’t talking to you I was talking to my mother."
So then he immediately went and got a staff member to have me thrown out. Literally thrown out of the facility. Mom was fine with it and told me to “leave and goodbye forever”…. I am having to let her go and wrap my head around the fact that she is choosing her husband over me “again.”
She doesn’t want me in her life anymore even though I have been through everything with her and gave her all the love I could give another person but its too much of a sacrifice for me to continue doing that for a person who will never appreciate or love me the way I loved her. All the years of pain she has caused me I was willingly to forgive her because I love her so much. Turns out it means nothing to her and I have to live the rest of my life getting over that.
The staff (I think the acting head nurse) didn’t even ask me anything about what was going on and just had me thrown out without question. I don’t know what my step-father told them but he convinced them I was trouble enough to kick out. He has managed now to keep my grandmother and me away from her.
My grandmother can no longer visit because she was borrowing my mom's car (which she was fine with at first) then my stepfather went to where my grandmother lives and stole the care back without my grandmother knowing (he had a spare key). Her purse was still in the car because she was going to run some errands and had left it. He drove off and when my grandmother came back she had no car and her purse was stolen. He must have had a friend or one of his sons drive the car that my step-father was in for him to have driven it off. The next day I found out about it, he told me to go get her purse from the car and return it to her myself.
This rehab facility let my stepfather run around and do whatever he wanted. Now he's calling all the shots and brainwashing her to believe that nobody is on her side but him, while simultaneously driving away all her loved ones.
The investigator doesn’t know if they have enough evidence to support his conviction but it may be months or years if ever that happens. All the while, my mother is blind to anything other than my stepfather giving her a toxic relationship of codependency and abuse. She is willing to allow her husband to kick me out of her rehab.
I am done overextending my love and time on the worst people on planet earth. It doesn’t make it any less painful as it is my mother but a mother who has been the most selfish person imaginable. I have learned that there are just bad people in this world. Even those that are supposed to love you the most. And I can break the chain by starting a family of my own one day and give my children the love and attention they deserve unconditionally.

2024.05.29 08:18 ImaFireSquid I got my 12th level 200 today! Thoughts on the lore of every class.

This event gives out so many level up potions. I want to milk it for legion exp until it ends. They finally roped me in! Here's my impressions of 1-200 on each class I've finished so far, entirely based on my personal headcanons I developed while playing the class. Next ones (hopefully) will be Kanna and Pathfinder.
Adele- I think this is the class other warriors hate. Like... she has no respect for her weapons. She just shoots out these crap swords, and is only good because she has so many. That's not even a warrior, that's a magician with muscle. I think, despite being entirely respectful and helpful, she causes the Flora to get a worse reputation.
Aran- I think, when this class enters the Black Mage chamber for a rematch, her and Evan would have a weird moment where the Black Mage begins calling Evan "Freud" and recognizes him, but doesn't recognize Aran at all. Aran is the only hero who never made it into the Black Mage's chamber.
Paladin- I think this class is what I'd expect is Sugar's canon class, honestly. I think it fits her better than any other explorer class.
Dawn Warrior- I think Milhe gave this class very little training, in an attempt to keep his title as the chief knight of light, and when this class develops an entirely different but equally valid fighting style based on the cycle of day and night, Milhe acts outwardly proud, but on the inside, he's sort of fuming that his style wasn't even the best one for a light themed knight to use.
Kinesis
I believe Kenesis's hair stands up like that because of telekenesis. I also think, due to the alternate reality in Friendstory, Cygnus has some weird feelings for Kinesis that she doesn't want to think about right now. I also think Kinesis is one of the three most likely candidates for Transcendant of Light, along with Luminous and Cygnus, and he's the only one that's not absolutely freaking out about the situation.
Ark
I think Ark is a monster in his world. In the Maple World, where curses being used for superpowers are commonplace, Ark isn't even noticed, and he thinks its weird that nobody even notices his giant monster arm, until he visits Edelstein and sees a demon chatting with a teddy bear.
Shade
I think he has a crush on Aran. It probably wasn't one-sided prior to the Black Mage's curse, now it definitely is. I imagine he's been going through portals, trying to find the perfect fake identity to get his former life back in, and the Black Mage dies while he's in the absolute worst one and he's got to live with that bizarre reputation.
Lyn
I think, as a small child who remembers her former lives, she's the only one who remembers Shade (also because she has some built-in curse resistance). I also think she's got a nasty relationship with basically every hero due to a previous life of generally causing pandemonium, and she's in a weird situation where they don't know that she knows, they just think she looks like a girl that stole their crap a while ago. I imagine her and Shade starting a weird, halfhearted friendship.
Corsair
For me, of the explorers, this would be the protagonist. Not the strongest, not the smartest, but the best leader of them. I like the idea of this risk-taking idiot leading the charge against the black mage surrounded by way more competent fighters.
Lara
I think there are characters like Pathfinder and Ark who got their powers specifically from being cursed, and would absolutely fear Lara as she walks around with her friendly smile and cute little bell that can take away your entire means of fighting in a single chime. She doesn't know this, and basically just wants to be friends with everyone. I imagine her using "I love you" as a standard "goodbye" message.
Mercedes
Since she's technically older than Athena, but Athena lived longer than her, I imagine both of them competing for the big sister role, asking the same stock "caring older sibling" questions, trying to one-up each other.
I also think, when the dust is settled, her, Cadena, and the Demon Slayer have way more in common than either of them wants to admit, coming from disaster-ridden high class kingdoms as some sort of nobility. I imagine passive aggressive tea parties with hapless victims like Cygnus, who have to sit there and watch these demigods bicker about chandeliers for hours.
Angelic Buster
I think Angelic Buster's power comes from cringe. I imagine she has the potential immediately to be a level 200 (pre-erdas) fighter, but it takes her up until level 200 to embrace the cringey costume and just go with it, at which point she can tap into all the power she was supposed to have right away.
I think Kaiser, in the same situation, would have immediately been level 200.
Zero
I think Zero has trouble differentiating mirror world people and real world people. I think both Alpha and Beta sincerely believe that Phantom is legitimately just a criminal, and don't buy this "hero" gimmick at all. Beta can be persuaded by evidence, Alpha can be persuaded by Beta.
Mechanic
In my mind, this class actually struggles to walk, maybe some sort of injury after getting shot in the opening scene. In order to pass the mech past the Black Wings, they call it a "mobility device". The Wild Hunter's jaguar is classified as a "comfort animal".
Cadena
In my heart, Cadena is every bit as snooty as Mercedes and Demon Slayer, but unlike them, she's gone through the school of hard knocks and has learned to accept a way lower standard of living. She normally chills out with the lower class, but every now and then says something that's totally unrelatable to all of them and you see a glimmer in the eye of somebody she really does not want to be associated with, so her deflection method is just to burp.

2024.05.29 08:12 Hefty-Secret-9333 Just a few questions about being late and also overtime.

Hey so I am contracted 4 nights a week sat-tuesday. I have been late a number of times, just trying to get my sleep under control but I've also been asked if I could come in for overtime for a 5th day and I always say yes and come in. Do you think me doing overtime will put more confidence in my managers that I care about the job as I do genuinely like working here, l haven't taken any days off in 2 months now and I definitely don't plan to as I really can't afford to lose out of the money.

2024.05.29 08:12 drchitra What are some common factors that may contribute to a high-risk pregnancy?

High-risk pregnancies are those that have a higher chance of complications for the mother, baby, or both. Several factors can contribute to a pregnancy being classified as high-risk.
Here are some common ones:

Maternal Age

Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Pregnancy-related Conditions

Lifestyle and Social Factors

Obstetric History

Genetic Factors

Infections

Environmental Exposures

Psychological Factors

Women with high-risk pregnancies typically require more frequent prenatal visits, specialized care, and possibly interventions to manage potential complications. Consulting with a healthcare provider early and regularly can help in identifying and mitigating risks to ensure the best possible outcome for both mother and baby
