2024.06.10 02:44 -AgreeableBicycle- Yatsu-no-Kami is legit a contender for worst boss fight of all time

Yatsu-no-Kami is the absolute worst fucking boss fight imaginable. Seriously, worst boss I’ve ever played in a game… like what the hell were the developers even thinking? The move set is just unfair, unenjoyable rng bs—constant, unpredictable attacks that give you zero chance to react. And wth is that arena? It's just cramped af and not designed for this, you just get cornered and obliterated by awful hitbox attacks.
The snake arms are absolute bullshit. They reach across the entire arena, detach, and attack independently. It's not challenging; it's cheap and lazy boss design. This is the kind of thing that appeals to the “git gud” crowd that confuses actual skill and challenge with tedious garbage. The deeper you look, the more problems there are - Like, of course a gank boss also has poison too, as if this fight wasn’t already bad enough. And the health regen? Are you fucking kidding me? You finally make some progress, and then it heals itself… rly fun and balanced game design. It’s the ultimate fuck you to players, turning the whole fight into a miserable endurance test instead of a rewarding challenge - and to be clear, this is a problem inherent in the whole game. This boss may be peak bs, but it’s not an outlier lol, even basic enemies are overtuned to hell in this game.
Idk man, I’m really trying but Nioh 2 as a whole is a thoroughly unenjoyable pile of dogshit so far. It’s riddled with unfair mechanics, designed to frustrate rather than entertain, and everything from lacklustre level design to visually uninspired bosses.. Yatsu-no-Kami for sure epitomizes everything wrong with this clownshow of a game at any rate. I feel like anyone who defends this kind of boss design has to be trolling or just trying to look like elite gamers. I rly don’t mean to come at anyone personally, like I’m happy people love this game and have for some reason spent thousands of hours to master all the jank within it, but I just don’t think this one’s for me. I’m gonna give it another hour or so, but being stuck on a boss for 9 hours isn’t my idea of fun.

2024.06.10 02:43 Impressive-Oil9200 Being mean to your teammates won’t make them play better

God I’m just having the worst fkn time in comp. I was on a losing streak, with many breaks in between, before I took a longer break and then switched to PC. I played a lot of QP before jumping into comp on PC because it all felt very weird and I kept forgetting which buttons did which. I felt like I’ve been decent in QP but comp is another story.
People in PC lobbies are so much more toxic, I think it’s partially because it’s easier for them to type so instead of an occasional “dps diff” or “ez” like you would on console people type out whole ass paragraphs just to shit on you. And they single you out.
I will admit, in comp I’ve been playing pretty badly. Which is frustrating because I’m really trying. Games either feel like roll or be rolled. Like, one game, I’ll be like 25 kills to 1 or 2 deaths, and the next game it’ll be the opposite, I’ll be like 0-2 kills to like 8 deaths. And in these games people FLAME me. They are so quick to blame me. I know it’s probably my fault but flaming me just makes me feel anxious, I start to panic about making my stats look better rather than playing better, and like all I can think about is what my teams saying rather than actually what’s happening in the game. So I die even more. It makes me want to leave the game. But I can’t so I just force myself to finish but obvs cuz I don’t wanna be there anymore I play so much worse than usual. Leading to more flaming.
And like for gods sakes, these are silver lobbies, it’s not like these people are any better or worse than me. We’re the same rank. They probably also have really shit games.
I just don’t understand the point of being nasty to your teammates in a team game? Like what is the point? It’s not going to make them play any better. It’ll probably make them play worse.
And also, like you don’t know what other people are going through. Yesterday I was having a REALLY bad day so decided to play OW to take my mind off it. After some good games of QP I decided to play some comp and instantly started getting rolled, as usual the team started flaming me and I’m ngl, after getting the defeat screen I just broke down in tears. It wasn’t even the loss, like idc abt my rank I just care about getting better at the game, it was just cuz people were singling me out. It’s so stupid to cry over a video game but with the combination of my personal life for some reason it really upset me.
It’s happened so much it’s making me anxious to play ranked. Like people will look at my username and know who I am. I feel like I must be the worst player on the planet.
Again, I know it’s dumb and embarrassing to be upset abt it but here I am and I wanted to vent.

2024.06.10 02:43 notarealredditor69 Balanced survival mode

When I first played this game I really loved it but I could tell there was missing mechanics so I stopped playing it so that I could wait for it to be more complete. I understand that recent updates have added a lot of the mechanics so I’m about ready to start playing again, once I complete FO4 which is my current game.
I understand that the options have been added in as various sliders which is great as it gives tons of flexibility but I am wondering if anyone has come up with a good set of settings that can create a real balanced survival mode? I have read a lot of posts on here about various setting like environmental conditions being turned up all the way making things too tough so I am trying to get a few of how different settings interact with each other etc.
Any advice?

2024.06.10 02:43 Blowing-0ff-Steam I'm in a seriously unfortunate position in my life at the moment and I need some serious advice (Long).

Basically, my current living situation is absolutely dreadful. Back at the beginning of 2023, I had to move out of my home and go back to living with some family. I was also going to college and in the middle of transferring to a university which was going to be quite a hit on my finances due to the higher tuition. That, and I was just generally reluctant to go back to living with my family and the home they're currently living in -- it's a run-down, roach-infested house occupied by my mother and brother who are frustratingly financially irresponsible people that are prone to making baffling self-sabotaging decisions and trying to use me as their personal ATM whenever they throw away all of their money. I've been meaning to move out for a while now, but a year or so later, I'm still here. There's something breaking every week, it seems (and no one here can afford to get fixed) and my mom and brother took in, like, 7 large dogs running around (and one small dog we've had for a while, but he's gone now :( )I'm really losing my patience; moreso with myself more than anything.
For the past year or so, I've been primarily focused on finishing college, but I've also been trying to budget and hang on to what little money I can get because I really just want to get my own place again. Unfortunately, with the bills I try to stay on top of, chipping in with groceries and the money someone here always desperately needs; saving is pretty difficult. I've been finding my account overdrafted almost regularly. These past few semesters took a huge hit to my finances. I have a work-study job, but I can only work 20 hours max and the pay is bi-weekly. So every couple of weeks, I'll make about $400 roughly. I was considering trying to move into a dorm at one point but that's $5,000 (+ a meal plan) a semester, but that's just too much for me. Even with the bit of scholarship money I have. I tried to get an RA gig, but that didn't work out. I was even given the contact information of someone who takes part in a program that deals with helping students with housing troubles. Me and this person exchanged emails a few times, but I haven't heard back from them since that past semester or so. That aside, school life was great for me to the point where I tried to stay on campus as much as possible because, boy, I hated going home. But that's also where my computer is and I need it to get stuff done, so I couldn't be gone for too long.
But as of last month, I'm happy to say that I graduated with honors! Not only that, but I also got into an internship program (still waiting to actually start that). But I'm still broke and life at home is still rough. In fact, it's gotten worse. I was just informed that our water is getting turned off because of an astronomical bill that has been neglected this entire time (seriously, I'm only now hearing about an $8,000+ water bill). So I'm sitting here in a smelly, roach-infested house with no A/C (it's hot as fuck here) or running water, with a bunch of big, loud dogs and obnoxious people yelling at each other across the house. I feel like I'm actually losing my mind right now. Thankfully, I still have the Work-Study job (for now) as a source of income and I'm desperately waiting for the internship to find me a paid gig in between the other busy work they have me doing. And I go out for some reason or another fairly often. So I still have a routine that gives me a reason to leave the house for a decent chunk of the week. I've also been taking the time to beef up my resume and applying to a bunch other places as well. Outside of that, I seriously don't know what to do. Since 2023, my living situation has been a constant source of stress.
It just feels good to type this out and talk about it. When I'm out in public or with friends, I try not to bring this up too much because I don't want to trauma dump and bring the vibe down, you know. The few people I have talked about this with tell me things will get better soon, but sometimes I wonder about that. The saying is "Things get worse before it get better," but I'm sitting here trying to figure out when things will start getting better? It just feels like no matter how hard I work, how much time and effort I put in, some new obstacle comes along and fuck me over and now I have to work around that. Even with college, I busted my ass making good grades and constantly got my name on the President's List every semester only for the school to deny my request for emergency aid twice and pushed me into taking out loans instead.
My dog (the small dog I mentioned earlier) died in April and I ended up maxing out my credit card just to pay for his cremation -- because the alternative option was to just let his corpse lay around until we eventually got the money to pay for his cremation...yes, that was seriously what they were going to do -- and now my last refund from college will go towards paying that off. Tried to relax by busting out the PlayStation for once since I've put gaming on the backburner to focus on my education; lo and behold, the television in my room is not working. Oh, and someone took a shit in the toilet...with no running water in the house. I swear, this is how supervillains are made. It just feels like I have the worst luck recently. But like I said, it feels good putting it out there. I know this is too long, sorry about that, but I do appreciate you putting up with my bitching.

2024.06.10 02:43 chocolatebabyman27 Being able to completely adjust the HUD is one of my favorite new features.

The font/design is amazing on a base level, but the fact that I can do WHATEVER I want with it makes this the best HUD of all time. One of my least favorite parts of Cold War Zombies is the relatively useless mini map and other UI elements.
I am going to replay the game endlessly with this HUD; a clean screen is perfect for Zombies. I've wanted this change for a long time and I'm honestly in disbelief that it's here. I can finally put my round counter in the lower left corner again. Treyarch COOKED.
I will say, it would be really cool if the UI design was different for each game mode. I'm not sure if it's confirmed to be the same across all gamemodes or not.

2024.06.10 02:42 oOkukukachuOo WOW! A lot of you need a reality check

Wow! There is definitely some legit deep despair going on in this sub. I mean, they even added a "depression" flair. It's not people trolling or memeing, no, you can tell these people are at their limit. Well, let me break it down for you.
Because some of you are COMPLETELY delusional and you need a reality check, BADLY. There's more to life than Hollow Knight. Not every metroidvania is a Hollow Knight clone. Maybe now you appreciate those Hollow Knight inspired games since you don't have more Silksong... Hollow Knight won't always hold the title of "best metroidvania", it will be dethroned, if it hasn't already (Nine Sols has already surpassed it in so many ways).
Team Cherry doesn't care about you. Even Leth has said, "let the community make itself" (more or less those words). That's why they don't have an official Discord if you didn't know. It's not their job to make sure they have a community, that's yours apparently. I also really hate all the blind, brand loyalty fanatics that this world creates. Just because something good was made by a certain company or person, doesn't mean the next thing will automatically be good as well. There are SO many examples of this.
You can't trust whatever a creator says, because they'll lie in order to keep it vague and interpretational. They'll also lie about other things. I've seen it so many times. You have Team Cherry saying that Dark Souls wasn't their inspiration or that they didn't even know about it, however you have little info saying that Ari did in fact play bloodborne and the others did play a "little bit" of Dark Souls. Now we don't know how much a little bit is, but it sure was enough to get those mechanics into Hollow Knight, wasn't it?
Team Cherry took the same path as Hello Games, just keeping their noses to the grindstone and not communicating with anyone. It's definitely a tactic and one that Sean Murray proved could work, but it could also backfire. I don't know how much of it will backfire, because you'll all still buy the game when it drops, but you can see the same tenseness and anxiety as the No Man's Sky fans felt during that time. Also, some people have said that this silence has bothered them so much that they're just gonna pirate the game...What a crock of shit. You're just trying creating an excuse for something you were already going to do. Get out of here with that
Team Cherry has always been skiddish and been frightened of any controversy even during their Kickstarter days. When a handful of people on the kickstarter happen to their displeasure with the delay of Hollow Knight, they brought on Leth. I'm not even kidding. Go look at the Kickstarter updates for yourself and see what I mean. They fold like a house of cards. That could be another reason why they're not communicating. The funny thing about that kickstarter situation is that most of the people were actually being really encouraging.
And lastly, you keep being so gullible that you're literally a clown entertaining the world with all of your foolishness. Just wait til the end of the year and if you don't have any info by then, then go into your doom or gloom.
If you want a pretty solid theory as to why Silksong hasn't come out yet, I believe the whole reason is because of porting issues. It makes a lot of sense. They had plans to release the game last year. They didn't. Porting takes a good while to do, and if you have bugs to iron out on top of that, well, then, that just becomes even more of a problem. On top of that, you now have a potential new platform that Silksong needs to be ported to... Team Cherry really screwed up because they wanted to release this game on all platforms all at once. That was the BIGGEST mistake they could have made (if that is actually the reason).

2024.06.10 02:42 OnionRangerDuck The New Tracker Quest is... Hard to Comment On

Simply put, inconsistent story telling.
You rarely have the option to just scare people during conversation, tho it's only mostly minor annoyance because almost no one recognize what you did in the world.
But the new quest is literally contradicting itself on the first two steps. Trying to gaslight you.
During the introduction of the quest, player were asked to talk with a senior tracker who got the typical cocky attitude that no one but him set the rules. And obviously, you cannot go against or even talk back to him. You can either comply, or comply with a bit of dignity.
Then the very next step, you had to confront someone, who was very confident in his tone and obviously will not be threatened with violent. And that is true as well, if you do threaten him, he will remain chill, make jokes, and then go on to tell you the information, he is indeed not scared. However , if you follow your instincts and try to sweet talk him, you will fail, and your partner will step in and threaten the guy himself, which lead to the same joke, same attitude, but makes fun of you for not knowing how to go hard and violent.
The game basically does not provide an option to go violent, and then subtly hinted you that you shouldn't go violent, and then make fun of you for actually not going violent...
Maybe I'm too sensitive, but the quest really started on the wrong foot for me.

2024.06.10 02:42 117Matt117 Why is published content so popular?

I don't quite know how to word this, but I feel like, compared to the DND community, APs are talked about and recommended way more for pf2e, and I'd like to explore why (but it's more of a question to you all since I don't have a bunch of knowledge on the subject).
Just for some background, I've been playing 2e for over a year, and the last time I've played 5e DND was over 2 years ago. I still look at Reddit content from both games, and it feels like the amount of homebrew campaigns talked about in 2e are way lower than for DND.
On top of that, it seems like officially published adventures are way more likely to be talked about in this community. Personally, I've only ever played in homebrew games, often times in homebrew worlds, so I don't have any insight into publications from either game.
My suspicion is that pf2e has better APs, or at least ones that are more popular with players, which is why they are talked about more often. Maybe they are easier to run straight without modifications? Or is homebrew frowned upon/harder to pull off for 2e? Or something else entirely?
To clarify, by homebrew I don't mean making up new mechanics/classes, just making up your own story/characters.
Thanks in advance!

2024.06.10 02:42 Large_Tie_6793 Broken game, poor devs

Wll they atleast changed longevity to make it so you don't need 10 MILLION points to fix a career when you take 0 damage in a fight. Now my biggest thing woth the game is stances. ALEX PEREIRA IS ORTHODOX, now, WHY, on a CAF is his stance faster in southpaw then orthodox. This is with most if not all stances where they copy the southpaw equivalent and decided it was good enough. AAA is like military quality gear, mass production of garbage 🗑

It doesn't matter how many posts I read or how many videos I watch, I just can't complete this race. I can't fathom how someone thought I would be a good idea to even include I race in the first place, and then make it so impossibly hard. I'm terrible at racing games, and so I struggled with the race to return the car. Then I got to the real one, and I'm completely stuck.

2024.06.10 02:41 TransportationOdd179 Mods with 1.6 or no?

Hey all! So, I’ve done several playthroughs, but only a couple that I’ve made it to “late game”, one back before 1.5, one with 1.5, and one with mods(once I figured out how to get mods on the Steam Deck). Before I launch into 1.6, I thought I’d get peoples opinions on using mods in conjunction with the new update. Better with mods? Better without? In the one modded playthrough, I mostly did some simple quality of life stuff and then SDVE. Thoughts on adding RSV or East Scarp? I’m wondering if a “mega playthrough” with as much content as I can make work would be good/feasible? Love to hear any opinions, as well as any of your favorite mods. Thanks!

2024.06.10 02:40 _ramos_ Some people are saying the “ce remake” is gonna be with the silver timeline

I saw this on twitter and on a recent Halo Follower video (doubtful sources I know) but some suggest that due to the viewership of the tv show makes “sense” in a marketing and executive point of view to shape new games into the show. ps please tell me this ain’t happening

2024.06.10 02:40 Supertanker13 Offsite backup for 20TB Linux data and capped Internet connection?

I have a poor Internet connection, a Linux NAS, a secondary/backup Linux NAS, a handful of Windows PCs with Veeam Agent, a few Linux PCs, a gigabit local network, a piss-poor and data-capped Internet connection, and a bunch of hard drives. I need help figuring out the 2-1 part of my 3-2-1 plan.
Most of my data is on the primary NAS, about 20TB worth. A stupid amount of it is large raw photos from vacations--let's say 8TB. The rest is a packrat assortment of All The Things going back to the early 00s and most of it is personal large data like video game development environments, art assets, etc that I consider irreplaceable. Storage is two 2x12TB mirrors.
I also have up to 1TB of data per Windows PC. The important folders get backed up to the NAS via Veeam Agent, so I have a handful of several-hundred-GB files per PC there.
My Linux PCs are mostly covered by BackupPC, which is very crusty these days and I may end up switching to something else. That's another topic for another day. It's not very much data. But it also also stores on the NAS.
The NAS itself is replicated via zfs send to a local secondary NAS. The primary NAS has mirrored zdevs but the secondary NAS has single drive zdevs, so two separate 12TB drives.
So my data sources and primary backups are:
You're probably noticing the glaring hole in my setup: off-site replication for the NAS. What would you do for your offsite backup? There are a dizzying array of options for slapping data on some 12TB externals. Encryption seems like a good idea in case of theft (lots of receipts, financial documents, etc). But do I layer it on top of something like LUKS? zfs native encryption? Do those play well with big external drives?
I was using zfs replication for awhile to an external drive, but this would be my "my house and neighborhood burned down" recovery plan, which makes me worry about starting from nothing: is a backup that I can't access with a surviving Windows laptop (easiest thing to get my hands on) worth anything? What's the Windows-compatible field look like?
My biggest two worries are: being able to start over from nothing after a natural disaster (#1) and stolen drives (#2).
As a side note, the Veeam files are huge and are a non-trivial amount of time to transfer during a backup...I wish Veeam Agent (standalone) could hit multiple backup targets on a rotation...
Thanks for reading

2024.06.10 02:40 Lonelygirl27279 20F Hiya Im looking for new friends to chat with and also play some games c:

Hello there! Hi, I’m Candy, yes, it is the real name haha and at the moment, I live in Argentina, with my tight schedule of classes, I barely get time to make new friends which is why I believed here might be a good chance to make friends. About me, well I love cats and gaming so you know, those topics are always up for discussion! Also, I have a great interest in home exercises, and watching movies, especially movies about the paranormal. Just tell me your age and where are you from and shoot me a DM! c:

2024.06.10 02:40 Carpyet Some of my Thoughts on the Direction NK hast taken with the Bloons Franchise

Some of my thoughts regarding Bloons that I just wanted to throw out there. Let me know what you all think.
I feel like spinoffs like BTDB2 and Bloons Card Storm are doomed to fail because they inherently differ from the casual playstyle of the core BTD series. People like myself pick up BTD6 because there is a lot of strategy involved in popping bloons the most efficient way possible. But I don't need to worry about mind games in trying to counter the strats of another player, or constantly worry about my rank or whatever. Sure there are competitive parts to BTD6 like the races and boss events, but those are optional and still reward mid-level gameplay. The moment you introduce competition with another player, that casual element is lost and people don't want to pick up the game as much. I think BTDB1 is the exception. I believe it succeeded because BTD5 was too easy, so battles 1 was the only outlet to play that generation of bloons at a higher skill ceiling. Also, there was a stronger Youtube community surrounding it at the time. My anecdotal evidence for this is that the community around BTDB1 fell fairly quickly once BTD6 came out
This is why I believe BMC2 should have been their next big game; BMC amplifies everything we love about BTD (the upgrades, sense of progression, grinding for resources, etc.) My ultimate dream, though they have confirmed this won't happen, is like a 10 dollar game similar to the hypothetical BMC2 with really simple mechanics that focused on upgrades, buildings, and short-match tiles as well as puzzles. Yet, they continue to go down the other road, and it baffles me.
Also, I get that making a free game with IAP may seem more profitable. But I'd much rather pay for the game upfront and know I am getting the full experience. The model they used for BTDB2 and Bloons Pop! immediately make me think the game is "cheaper" or somehow less special than BTD6, and I feel less invested.

2024.06.10 02:39 DrearyMountain why did DWD go this direction with the game?

Hi, I just came back after a 5 year break from Eternal. The last time I played was after the release of Set 3. What I'm seeing is a ton of power crept cards that you can ONLY get by paying real life money. Free players can't compete.
With only 200 active players on Steamcharts, is 200 whales enough to keep this project afloat? Wouldn't it have been wiser to make the game playable for everybody? Wouldn't it have been more fun if everyone could compete equally in ranked? Just as a completely random example, Rakano Aggro was a huge deck when I was first playing; but now if you wanted to play it, you need to spend $60 for three playsets for the core cards of the deck. It's literally unplayable without Quick Study and Steelwing Glaive.
Do I need to say that for $60 you could buy a full game? How is this working for DWD? Are they aware of the state of Eternal? Are they planning to EOS and make an Eternal 2?

2024.06.10 02:39 lilbluberryz Designing a mouse mat for my bf any tips appreciated!

Designing a mouse mat for my bf any tips appreciated!
As I previously mentioned in my last post on here I am very new to digital drawing and have never really practiced art in the past but I recently got an iPad and I’ve found messing around on it with drawing really fun and I would like to get better at drawing. I decided to draw myself a mouse mat just for fun (it’s the pink one that I added in case any one would like to see it for reference) and my bf asked me to design him one which is the purple one, i still need to clean it up and add detailing but does anyone have any tips or advice on how I could make it look even better for him. Also I really love gaming etc and I am constantly coming up with cute ideas I’d love to have for a mouse mat so I’m hoping once I’ve had more practice and have gotten a lot better I’ll actually be able to design some to sell which would be so fun!! But anyways please comment some advice or ideas etc :)
