I (37M) Have been married to my wife (31F) for two years, we have a baby boy (1M) and her daughter from a previous marriage (10F) Step-Daughter and I get along famously, she calls me Dad and trusts me as a parent.
A few days ago she came to me asking to talk and confessed that having to kiss my wife's parents (Both 68) when they visit was something she was really uncomfortable with, which I've noticed but always thought it was just typical kid things, but when she mentioned it I did realise that both my wife's parents greet her with big mouth on mouth kisses that last way longer than they should, I told her that she didn't need to do anything she didn't want to do, so we sat down with my wife and she agreed.
So last night my wife's parents came over and both tried to go in for a kiss and after Grandpa tried he looked kind of bitter, I casually explained that she doesn't want to kiss any more and tried to go about the evening and serving the dinner both my wife and I made, but Grandpa was not having it after sitting on the couch with the beer I just grabbed him he tried to ask my wife why we weren't letting him kiss her, which was a very weird way to put it, my wife tried to explain that she was just reaching that age where kissing your grandparents was too embarrassing and she was just growing up etc. But he seemed more offended, we tried to move on by serving dinner and ignoring him but at the dinner table he just started back up again, talking at Step-Daughter while he said some pretty weird things like "It feels like you're accusing me of something"
At this point Grandma was agreeing with him more and more and wouldn't accept our reassurance that it was just her personal choice and she doesn't kiss either of us but neither of the Boomer in laws accepted that, it got to a point where I told Grandpa "Just shut up okay?" Which wasn't the best choice of words but he was really annoying about it.
Then all bets were off, he slammed his beer down on the table (Covering our 1 year old with it in the process) and started going on saying "I don't need to be treated like this" And stomping out of the house with Grandma in tow before one of them slammed the door and we heard them speed off.
I was bewildered, Step-Daughter was beside herself, she really thought that she had caused this and it took quite a while for her to calm down from it, I'm still a little shocked to be honest, to have that adverse a reaction to a young woman having control over her own body and drawing a boundary, now bear in mind that Step-Daughter is a huge hugger and regularly hugs me, my wife, her baby brother, our dog and our cat several times a day and I'm sure if Boomer in laws would respect her boundaries she'd be glad to give them huge hugs too but apparently they have to give her huge mouth on mouth kisses to function.
I'm just at a loss for words right now.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. Today we are taking a closer listen/look at “Draw A Crowd” which is the sixth track from the band’s reunion album titled The Sound of the Life of the Mind.
After the tour for the band’s third studio album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, the band ultimately broke in October of 2000. And although the band did not “reform in June”, they did reform a couple of times between 2008 and 2011. And eventually in 2012, the band had completed The Sound of the Life of the Mind which would become their reunion/fourth studio album.
The album does a nice job of sounding mature while maintaining those fun moments. And “Draw a Crowd” is definitely one of the more fun songs on the album. The song begins with these weird sound effects that remind me of arcade machine noises. But before you can decide what they are, you get blasted with this chorus of heavenly “ah’s.” I’m not even sure how many voices there are on this intro but it gives me shades of “Underground” but on steroids. And as the voices climb high and higher and eventually reach their conclusions, you hear a voice quietly say “damn.” I’m not sure whose voice it is but my vote is on Darren.
When the band kicks in we get this upbeat, fast changing piano progression that’s backed with a foot tapping kick drum. I believe this is actually the music we get for the chorus because when Ben starts singing, the progression changes slightly and sounds a bit more mysterious for the verses. And when the music changes to the verse we hear Ben swap out his piano for an electric keyboard and the rest of the band drops out. I love the sound of this electric keyboard as it sounds pretty percussive even without Darren and Robert. But halfway through the verse the other two join in and you get thesegreat bass slides and some playful playing overall.
Lyrically this song rides a fine line between completly goofiness and self reflection. Ben starts the song by singing about ordering a time capsule online and it arriving on his doorstep. Ben describes himself as “a brand new man” and talks about how he doesn’t want this time capsule. I think this about someone who’s trying to move on from their past and start their life as a new person, which is why they don’t want a device that lets them look back on their past. Then he sings about questions and microphones blinding him which could be a take on being a celebrity. And he sings about a time where he was so high (maybe metaphorically or literally) where he can’t remember what he said, but only that he said something because his “face vibrated.”
We then get this really cool pre chorus where the music becomes a little ominous and there’s a bit of tension. We are hit with these backing vocals that say “is it all in my mind?/I thought I was fine.” This character in this song seems to having an internal struggle about what’s actual true or what they’ve made up.
This perfect pre chorus leads us into an extremely catchy chorus. Robert’s bass has a nice fuzz to it to give the song texture. We also get some very high “oh-oh’s” from Ben which are impressive with Robert’s harmonies supporting him. But its the lyrics of the chorus that might be a deal breaker for some.
“If you’re feeling small and you can’t draw a crowd draw dicks on the wall” is definitely a classic Ben lyric that may be too child-like humor for some. But I think it’s a pretty clever lyric that has a dual meaning. He’s basically saying that if you can’t gather your own fandom or group of people, you have to do something that will make you stand out. And what’s a better way to stand out than drawing penises on a wall? Now he’s not being literal with this advice, it’s more of a metaphor. It seems to connect to earlier themes of being famous. You might feel like you have something important to say but you’re not sure how to say it and how to get people’s attention.
When the band goes into the second verse there’s a nice contrast between the different keyboards. This time around there’s more of an emphasis on Ben’s actual piano as he’s playing the chords and the keyboards take more of a background approach. Ben sings about becoming unraveled as well as “and I wanna sell 'em, I sing the line again” which is maybe a salesman trying to sell something to someone. And this “line” appears to be “so smooth you can hear the beard.” It’s a ridiculous line and it contradicts itself because a beard is the opposite of smooth. But I think that’s the point of the lyric, it’s suppose to be ridiculous. The three of them sing this line three times because as they say “three times is poetry” and I feel the point of this verse is that you can make anything sellable if it’s catchy.
After we get a second chorus we get a post chorus of sorts when Ben sings “and if you can’t draw a crowd, settle for what you can draw.” To me, this only cements the theme of this song which is making the most of what you’ve got. During this part we get a cool section of music where the piano simplifies, the bass gets beefy and the notes Ben plays are pretty bluesy. We then get to the bridge of the song that is backed by some synths and Ben making fun of the phrase “I’m just sayin.’” Then the music builds like it does with the pre chorus (with fantastic drum fills) and Ben sings about how despite being a brand new man, he’s still “paying for it.” Which to me could loop back to the first verse of buying a time capsule which again could be a metaphor to owning up to your past.
After one last extended chorus we get an another bluesy section that’s followed by that upbeat progression that we got after the acappella intro. But this time we have Ben singing over it with the lyrics “I only wanted to be Stevie Wonder, but I got to settle for this vanilla thunder” while Robert and Darren sing the title of the song in the background. I think this lyric is a retrospective look at Ben’s career. When he was young I’m sure he wanted to be as talented and famous as Stevie Wonder. But he has to settle for what he has and how far that’s gotten him in life. And of course he has to be funny by referring to himself as “vanilla thunder” for obvious reasons. The song then ends with those robotic pitch sliding tones that started the song originally.
This is a funny song overall with messages that I think could hit home for a lot of people. There’s definitely some lyrics that have to do with fame, but there’s also themes of owning up to your past and leaning to live with what you are (pun intended). And these universal themes are wrapped up in an upbeat song with great dynamics between the different sections, different textures, the backing vocals and the top notch playing. I’m actually surprised this was song wasn’t released as a single. Last bit of trivia, when the album was released on vinyl it was out on two Lp’s. But in the fourth side, instead of music there’s an etching that says “If you play this side it will eff up your needle.” And there’s also an arrow pointing to where the center label would be and it says “Draw dick here” which is of course a funny reference to this song.

I began interested in reading due to Dune and GoT/House of the dragon series which introduced me to more fantasy/scifi series. However, due to my lack of English, my attempt to read Dune, A song of Ice and Fire or even Lord of the Rings lacked enjoyment because I had the habit to analyze/breakdown each sentence grammerly from the way I learned English. Also, due to lack of vocabularies, searching words I don't understand for at least 4~5 sentences drained the experiences enjoyment, also. Overall, reading books feel like studying rather than enjoying. Sadly, for my native language 1. there are many famous series missing ( no ASOIAF, wheel of time, Branden Sanderson, A name of wind, Hyperion etc). 2. the existing translated old series of Dune, LotR is translated by very old grandpa professors who were born in the 50s and they are translated in very boring formal way which feels like reading the constitution of the united states. The wit seen from the hobbits in LotR are absolutely no where to be found due to these old dead serious senior translators.
I wish I had English as my native language because I want so many series to read, (as mentioned above, ASOIAF, WOT, DUNE, Hyperion, books by Branden Sanderson)
Has any non native English speaker who wants to read fantasy/scifi books went through this? Do I just have to keep on reading even though I'm not enjoying it but feel like studying, until I can read smoothly, effortlessly?

Basically right now I have no friends, didn’t build my career, never found a passion to make into a profession and lost my relationship if over 7+ years with my ex girlfriend and will make 2 years of breakup close to June this year.
All my life I’ve been supported with good education until the end of the secondary school. The person responsible for that was my mom side grandpa. My parents got divorced when I was 8 and the only thing g I got for years a weekend time with my dad. I’ve never been close to him and since he has mood of an authoritarian and verbal aggressive behavior I was never comfortable with him to the point of being “scared” to talk to him. My granpa was basically my father all this life. Unfortunately I suffered an abuse when I was a child and I made a connection with my case when a big news came to tv about adults being r*ped when children in a orphanage by famous men and celebrities.
That brought me a case of OCD around 12-14. I was in a severe case of rituals and obsessions.
Maybe because of my personally I was a shy child and teen and I never experience too much life. I remember I got a case of bullying and I got scared of going to a park when teens used to go to play and socialize after school.
My friends at that time used to go to parties and get girls and I was always very worried about not fitting in and getting rejection. As people smoke dance and drink on parties I didn’t and I thought I wouldn’t fit in.
After high school I decided to go to med school. Was my first public school. Trying to live the social life that I didn’t have and have a problem in anatomy classes with the OCD I started failing years. My focus and my study method weren’t there so I stayed for 7 years just reaching the 3rd years of the course with classes still behind.
I guess after that everything got worse. I needed up dropping out of the course with the breakup of my first gf, being cheated and lost my closest 3 friends too.
That might have been the start of a depressive state. I med another girl. We broke up after 4 months. I had some romantic thing and then I met my last gf. Those last 7 years I was in a state of some unawareness about “real life” but I started to get depressive. I started gaining 30th over my former weight and that added up to the case. Had some jobs for a small amount of time and tried twice to do culinary school but dropped out much more quicker (less that a month)
At last, last year I was still into buying shoes for a personal collection and staring in bed most of the times. I hanged out with a bad company for like half and years and I decided it was over. Last Oct I woke up completely to my present. I have lost 2 molars in the last year. My beloved grandpas are almost 88 and my mother side grandpa is getting worse and keep being in a bad shape since like 2 years ago. The woman I seee know is not the woman I remember that breaks my heart in a inexplicable way.
So what happen today, no money , no job, no career,no friends, bad family environment, still trying to move on from the breakup. I’m pretty sure I need to come up with some plan to make a good career other wise I cannot make the plans that everyone makes. Having a family, my house, getting a new car and have kids.
Most days are a nightmare. I don’t even leave the bed or the house and have no routine. All because I cannot see a way out.
My granpa can no longer supported me liked he used to do because all this years he has been spending the money he made almost for selling his business and other investments. I have no escape plan.
Do you guys have advice that could be useful to me?

At last, last year I was still into buying shoes for a personal collection and staring in bed most of the times. I hanged out with a bad company for like half and years and I decided it was over. Last Oct I woke up completely to my present. I have lost 2 molars in the last year. My beloved grandpas are almost 88 and my mother side grandpa is getting worse and keep being in a bad shape since like 2 years ago. The woman I seee know is not the woman I remember that breaks my heart in a inexplicable way.
So what happen today, no money , no job, no career,no friends, bad family environment, still trying to move on from the breakup. I’m pretty sure I need to come up with some plan to make a good career other wise I cannot make the plans that everyone makes. Having a family, my house, getting a new car and have kids.
Most days are a nightmare. I don’t even leave the bed or the house and have no routine. All because I cannot see a way out.
My granpa can no longer supported me liked he used to do because all this years he has been spending the money he made almost for selling his business and other investments. I have no escape plan.
Do you guys have advice that could be useful to me?

Episode 10: New Beijinging
"Last time on The Ridonculous Race. We struck emotional gold in Dubai.”
“Carrie gave up on the game of love, the Bulldogs grinded each others’ rusty gears. And Kelly finally gave Taylor a timeout, which cost them the race. But hey, a healthy relationship with your daughter's worth a million bucks. Not! And last but not least, a new alliance was born.”
“Is it more than just an alliance? Your guess is as good as mine. But mine matters more because I'm on TV. This is the Ridonculous Race!"
(Roll the Credits)
Don was shown approaching the first team. "All right. It's time to say "bye-bye" to Dubai. Extreme Girls, you're up first. Ready? Go!"
The Extreme Girls ran to the Don Box, and received their tip. "Find your next tip at the world famous Bird's Nest Stadium,” France read the tip. “Never heard of it."
"Well it's right here in Beijing, China," Don said. "Home to twenty-five million people. Oddly enough, we'll see none of them."
Along with the Extreme Girls, the Sisters, Tennis Rivals, Ice Dancers, Father & Son, Goths, Police Cadets, Party Dudes, Fashion Bloggers, and Villains all got their tips and raced to the airport.
"The first eight teams grab their travel tips, taxis, and tickets, and get seats on the first flight to Beijing. The stragglers on flight two have an extra hour to talk strategy," Don narrated as the footage jumped to the second flight in the air.
Carrie sat beside Devin, who was asleep in the window seat. "Watching Devin sleep is so awesome. He sometimes mumbles the sweetest things," Carrie told the camera.
"Rainbow zebras took my wallet…" Devin mumbled.
Carrie chuckled awkwardly. "I said sometimes."
Rock was walking down the aisle, and caught sight of an opened bag of airplane peanuts on Carrie's tray.
"Hey Carrie," Rock asked Carrie in a hushed whisper, "since Dev's snoozing, I got to know. You going to make a move on that?" he pointed to the peanuts.
"What?" Carrie glanced at Devin, not noticing that Rock was actually talking about the peanuts before turning to Rock again. "Oh, well, Devin and I are friends."
"I know, but this opportunity isn't going to last forever," Rock said.
Carrie gasped, and grasped Rock's arm as he tried to reach for the peanuts. "That's what I keep thinking! The whole reason I entered this race was to show him we had a connection! Something special"

Rock groaned. "I just wanted the peanuts."
Outside Interview: Carrie
Carrie sighed. "Oh, why didn't I just tell him I love him in Hawaii? But... when I force myself to face it, I'd rather let him have a life with Shelley than not be in my life at all."

Carrie watched Devin shift in his sleep, and he snapped awake.
"Oh, good. You're okay," Devin breathed in and out. "I had a dream that you and I lived in a treehouse and it caught fire and-"
"Just you and me? Living together?" Carrie questioned, a smile replacing her sad frown.
Devin smiled at her. "Yeah, well, uh, I was a three-headed tiger," Carrie quickly became confused, "and you were a monkey in a tuxedo, but it was you. Weird." He went back to sleep, not noticing her smile growing bigger.
"We… lived… together…" Carrie repeated before the plane slightly shook from Carrie squealing in delight.
A few seats back from the Best Friends, Spud sat listening to his headphones. Rock returned to his partner, and said, "I know our strategy was 'slow and steady', but-"
"Isn't our strategy to 'party on!'?" Spud questioned.
Rock imitated a game show's wrong answer buzzer and replied, "No, but we need a new strategy anyway so-"
"How about 'party on harder!'?" Spud offered.
"Spud, we gotta go faster, like- pshew!" Rock told him, mimicking a shooting bullet.
"Okay," Spud got out of his seat and approached the front of the plane, knocking Rock down on his butt in the process, "I'll tell the pilot."
"No, Spud! I meant- aw man!" Rock tried to stop him as he got back to his feet, eventually facepalming.
Outside Interview: Rockers
"I'm starting to think, like, maybe there's such thing as too easygoing," Rock thought out loud while Spud was listening to his headphones. "I got to find a way to motivate this guy."

As Tom was reading a magazine, Jen sat on her knees and leaned over the back of her seat to see that Tammy was cleaning her ocarina while sitting next to a sleeping and snoring oxygen masked Max.
"So," Jen started to say, "great minds think alike?"
Tammy smiled as she glanced at her sleeping partner before looking back up at Jen. "I’m a heavy snorer myself, but Max is much worse than me, and I’m telling you because he can’t hear me."
The first flight landed in Beijing, and the teams boarded a bus that would take them to the Bird's Nest.
"Thanks for helping us with the windows yesterday," Kitty thanked the Extreme Girls.
"No problem," Paris smiled.
"Just don't expect us to cater to you. We have an alliance, but it's still a competition," Emma reminded them.
World Interview: Extreme Girls
"I guess we could allow the Sisters to take first this time around," France said with a smile.
"If it means getting them to trust us more in Kitty’s case and distrust us less in Emma’s, then sure," Paris agreed.
World Interview: Sisters
"Are you still upset about not winning the last challenge?" Kitty asked her sister.
"I am, but Paris and France helped us stay in the race," Emma responded.
"And Paris using her hair to wipe the windows was pretty unique," Kitty added. "I’d like to get to know more about them and their crazy stunts."
"You can be all buddy-buddy with them, but not me," Emma muttered. "Winning comes first."

The bus arrived at the stadium, and accidentally hit the Don Box while trying to stop, sending the tip holder flying a few feet away.
Jen was first to step off the bus. "There's the Don Box!" The Don Box laid on the sidewalk, half-broken and spewing out tips. She picked up one of the discarded tips and read from it, "It's an All-In!"
"'Fly over the Bird's Nest stadium and tandem jump through the donut hole to receive your next tip?'" Tom finished reading.
A cut from the sidewalk to a plane flying above Beijing showed the teams preparing to do the jump, and Max glanced out the window of their plane.
"That's the Doughnut? Highly unimpressive," Max remarked upon seeing where they had to land.
World Interview: Villains
"I wish we had an eating challenge today rather than tandem jumping,” Max grumbled.
“The last eating challenge was the one in Iceland where they served eyeballs and intestines!” Tammy grimaced. “Good thing we chose to pick out a fossil instead.”
“A valid point, sidekick," Max agreed.
“You know you can just call me by my name sometimes,” Tammy deadpanned.

The Villains and Fashion Bloggers both wore tandem parachute packs. Tammy and Tom, the taller of the two, would be controlling their packs once they jumped.
"I don’t know why they didn’t provide us with helmets," Tom said.
World Interview: Fashion Bloggers
“I thought you weren’t a fan of them,” Jen wondered.
“Yeah, but this is skydiving of all things,” Tom explained. “I’d rather let a helmet ruin my hair than some strong winds.”
“Now that you say it, I want helmets as well,” Jen reconsidered.

Josee kissed her lava rock, and started rubbing it all over herself. "I need all the luck this Hawaiian lava rock can bring me."
World Interview: Ice Dancers
"Yesterday, we came in fourth.” Josee rubbed her lava rock on Jacques, and Jacques giggled as the lava rock tickled his armpits. “We shouldn't be down in the dirt with the losers. We should tower above them like the goddesses we are!" Josee finished rubbing her rock on Jacques, and pulled her arm back after ruffling his face and hair. "Did that sound egotistical?"

The door on the side of the plane opened as an alarm blared, signaling it was their time.
"Jump time! You ready?" Kitty asked the Pros.
"Hey, how hard could it be?" Paris quipped, and the two teams jumped out.
Both teams screamed for dear life, and Kitty and Paris eventually got out the parachutes. Doing their best to guide them into the Doughnut, they steered in its direction, but the teams were pushed away in a different direction.
France and Paris screamed as they crashed down onto a rickshaw. Emma and Kitty, on the other hand, slammed face first into a gong.
The other teams soon jumped out of the plane. Most of the teams landed inside the Doughnut, but a wayward drift caught some of the teams.
The Tennis Rivals landed in the stadium and smiled at each other, only to be crushed down by the Party Dudes.
"Yippee!" Brody cheered. Their joy lasted only briefly as Father & Son landed on top of them.
"Oh yeah!" Dwayne cheered, but was cut off by the Goths landing on them.
The Goths stared blankly as their parachute covered them like a blanket.
Still in the air, the Ice Dancers attempted to navigate into the stadium. "Over there! Over there!" Josee commanded.
"I know, Josee! It's just not-agh!" Jacques yelped as they crashed through a billboard with a donkey on it, Jacques having his head stuck out of where the donkey’s butt was supposed to be.
World Interview: Ice Dancers
"That's Jacques for you, always trailing behind," Josse commented with Jacques having part of the billboard around his neck. "But still, he's an asset to the team."

The Extreme Girls and Sisters ran past the Bird's Nest. "Okay, this time, less screaming, more steering," Emma instructed her sister, both looking disheveled from their bad landing.
"I'll see what I can do, but no guarantees." Kitty replied.
The bus carrying the last five teams arrived, and they all hurried out.
"Come on!" Carrie shouted out.
"Hurry!" Bark added.
Spud had yet to exit the bus, forcing Rock to double back. "Spud, hey, Spud!" Rock called, pulling out a box and shaking it. "Want a choco oinkie?"
Spud got off the bus, took a sniff, and began to smile. Rock shook the box, and took off after the other teams, convincing Spud to chase him.
Outside Interview: Rockers
"New strategy. Spud loves choco oinkies. He'd do anything for one," Rock explained with a smile as he held the box of choco oinkies in one hand.
"Chocolate-covered pork-rindy goodness…" Spud stated, almost hypnotized.
"So I cleaned out the airport vending machine;" Rock took out a choco oinkie. "This will make him up the pace."
Spud eyed the snack, and immediately bit Rock's hand for it. Rock screamed in pain.

The Party Dudes, Tennis Rivals, Goths, and Father & Son all ran to the Don Box placed in the stadium.
Slamming the button on top, Geoff snatched the tip from the machine. "It's another All-In," he told the others.
A cut to a local vendor out in Beijing showed Don approaching the shop. "An All-In with a twist," Don said. "To receive their next tip from this vendor, one team member must assemble and deep fry a skewer of Beijing street food. And their partner has to eat it. Who's gonna scarf it and who's gonna barf it? Find out when we return on... The Ridonculous Race!"
(Commercial Break)
The front-running teams ran to the shop, and Geoff and Brody stopped by the counter.
"So, what's good today, dude? Are the crickets fresh?" Brody asked the old lady in charge. The old lady held up a cricket, which chirped in response.
Crimson and Ennui ran straight for a crate, and Crimson immediately pulled the lid off, allowing a swarm of bats to fly out.
World Interview: Goths
"Bats are like the most beautiful creatures on Earth. I had to set them free," Crimson stated while the bats flew around.

Jacques and Josee once more parachuted out of a plane, and were able to make a successful drop into the stadium. As they landed, Jacques bent his foot the wrong way.
"Ah! My ankle!" he cried out in pain.
Outside Interview: Josee
Jacques hopped on one foot in the background, cradling his injured ankle.
"Why is Jacques so clumsy today?!" Josee questioned, giving her partner the stink eye from the foreground. She turned her attention to the camera while crossing her arms. "Don't give him any sympathy. You'll just encourage him."
Interview Ends
Josee ran towards the Don Box, but stopped to turn to Jacques, who was hopping after her, still cradling his ankle. "Snap out of it! Our fans are watching! Eat the pain!" She snarled at him, and put on a smile. "And smile!" Keeping the smile on her face, she went to the Don Box.
Taking Josee's advice, Jacques put on a pained smile, let go of his foot, and followed her. “Okay!”
Behind them, Devin and Carrie landed in the stadium.
"That was incredible! Woo!" Carrie cheered, unbuckling her harness. Devin, frozen in terror from the drop, fell over.
World Interview: Best Friends
"I am not great with heights or falling from them, which I think is reasonable," Devin said nervously, but then relaxed and smiled at Carrie. "I'm just really glad Carrie was there to see me through it? Shelley? Pfft. She would've totally bailed."
"Hey, what's that?" Carrie pointed off-screen past Devin.
Devin turned to see what she was pointing at. "What's what?"
Behind his back, Carrie grinned wildly until Devin began to turn around again. She regained her composure, and shrugged. "Oh, uh, guess it was nothing."

The Jocks and Pranksters went through their jump, and successfully made it inside the Doughnut.
"So, what’s your favorite sport outside of-" Val asked Usain as they began to land, but was cut off by her and Windsor flopping to the ground as their parachute covered them.
World Interview: Pranksters
"Don’t blame me for your conversation getting ruined. I was simply the one in front of you," Windsor immediately said.
"Well, now I’ll never know about Usain’s favorite sport," Val frowned.
"Usain is a jock, but football would be an obvious answer," Windsor replied.
"I'm just trying to get to know him so I can ask her out without looking so needy and desperate," Val said.
"What can I do to help?" Windsor asked.
Val thought for a moment. "Other than not embarrassing me in front of Usain, nothing. I don’t want you to chase him away with your pranks," she scowled at Windsor, causing the younger girl to cringe.

The Bulldogs and the Rockers made it into the Doughnut as well.
"Nice going, Bite! You didn't suck out there," Bark mocked his teammate as they ran to the Don Box with a smile.
"And you weren't being a stool, Bark," Bite shot him an equally mocking smile.
"We did it! Oink me!" Spud told Rock, eager to get a snack.
Rock took off the parachute, and removed the box of choco oinkies from a compartment of the pack. "Not until we're out of last place."
“Aw, come on,” Spud complained.
“Fine. Go get it!” Rock chucked a choco oinkie across the stadium.
“I'll get it! I'll get it!” Spud chased after it.
World Interview: Rockers
“My mom says I'm a light eater,” Spud explained. “When the lights go on, I start eating.”

The teams continued to prepare their skewers. The Goths already had theirs prepared, and Crimson was eating it, but she looked ready to barf. The Tennis Rivals were investigating a crate, and were caught off-guard when a large snake wrapped itself around Gerry's neck. Father & Son ran from the bats that Crimson had freed earlier, and Max accidentally let go of the skewer he was deep frying, causing him to start over.
As the Best Friends ran past them, the Fashion Bloggers didn’t look particularly ready to eat something so disgusting.
Jen looked at her partner concernedly. "Uh, I don't think I can-" She wasn't able to finish her sentence as her cheeks bulged.
Tom frowned. "It's okay. I'll eat it. You skewer up some worms, and-" Jen ran off-screen, and vomited. "I can't even say 'worms'?" Tom asked, and he got a reply in the form of Jen retching some more, making him cringe at the sound.
Outside Interview: Fashion Bloggers
Tom and a pale Jen stood off to the side of the shop, and Jen was holding a bucket.
"When we were kids, Jen tripped over a curb and swallowed," Tom covered Jen's ears and continued softly, "a worm. She barfed for six days straight afterwards." He let go of her ears.
"Were you talking about worms?" Jen asked.
"Yes?" Tom answered hesitantly, and Jen retched into her bucket. "Yeah, I walked into that one."
Interview Ends
Dwayne was shown trying to catch a scorpion with his skewer but failing. “Come on, stay still, will you?” he griped. “Sneaky little rascals. Yeah, maybe I'll just grab one.”
Dwayne reached in, only for the vendor to pull his arm and prevent him. “Don't you worry about me. I'll be quick as a panther. Just you-”
He put his arm in again, and he was rapidly stung by the scorpions, much to Junior's horror. When Dwayne took his hand out, he shook away all of the scorpions.
One of the scorpions landed on Jacques’ face, forcing him to scream. “Kill it, Josee!”
“Stand still!” Josee ordered before she punched all sides of his head in order to get the scorpion off.
Bite skewered up one last creature, a starfish, and held up the skewer. "Alright! Time to cook!" Running the skewer over to the deep fryer, Bite stuck it in as Bark watched.
"Make sure not to burn it!" Bark advised. "I don’t want my tongue getting burned."
Outside Interview: Bulldogs
"I did the eating challenge in Morocco, so it was only fair that Bark here ate the scorpions and worms," Bite explained, then frowned. “I am a wee bit jealous that he’ll get to eat them and not me.”

“Are you okay, dad?” Junior asked Dwayne, who’s left hand was swollen and had a goofy expression on his face.
“Oh, of course I am, Mr. President. Did you?” Dwayne mumbled before falling back down.
“Perfect,” Junior deadpanned.
Outside Interview: Father & Son
“The medic says it'll wear off eventually, but we can't just wait around or we'll get eliminated!” Junior spoke, unaware of Dwayne starting to wander off. “Looks like I'm in charge. Again.” He soon realized that Dwayne had left. “Oh no! Come back here!”

“How are you feeling?” Josee checked up on her Jacques, who was sitting on the ground and feeling dizzy.
“I can't feel my face,” Jacques answered.
“Good!” Josee smiled. She took out her skewer with the food already on it, grabbed Jacques's hair, and stuffed the food into his mouth. She even forced him to swallow them whole.
“Done!” Josee cheered once the job was done and Jacques went off to hurl. “We're in first place!”
The vendor gave Josee their next tip. "It's a Botch or Watch. Whoever didn't dive for rings in Hawaii…"
"…must pull their teammate by rickshaw all the way here to the Great Wall of China, using only this rudimentary map," Don explained, standing on the wall and holding a map identical to the ones the teams would be using. "Last team to find the Chill Zone hidden somewhere along the wall, and check in, could be checking out."
Jacques got in a rickshaw while Josee pulled it, and Jacques bid farewell to the other teams. "Au revoir!"
"Hustle!" MacArthur ordered while Sanders took the front.
Brody whooped as he took the front of the third rickshaw.
"Three teams have moved on. Jen, you need to start skewering if-" Tom told Jen, but was interrupted when she ran off to barf in her bucket some more.
Meanwhile, Max was assembling a skewer for Tammy in the background. The Villains had stopped what they were doing to watch the three teams advance to the next challenge, and turned their attention to the sound of Jen hurling. They cringed at the sight off-screen.
“Shouldn't we try and help them?” Tammy asked.
“And be penalized? We may be alliance mates, but that host man will certainly punish us,” Max replied.
“I guess you do have a point there,” Tammy considered.
The Pranksters and Jocks all finally arrived.
"I prep, you eat!" Usain told Lightning.
"Why does Lightning have to eat?" Lightning asked.
"Because you picked the spices for me," Usain took a skewer, and quickly assembled an assortment for his partner.
Having watched the Sisters, Val turned to Windsor. "I prep, you eat! Not a question!"
"Wow," Usain said in response to Val's assertiveness.
World Interview: Pranksters
"I figure," Val began to say, "if I act strong and assertive, he'll see that I'm the girl for him. I've got this all figured out," she smiled confidently.

Usain gave Val a flat look. "You should be less hard on your partner. She is 13, you know." Val's smile towards her fell upon hearing his response.
World Interview: Pranksters
"How is this so hard?" Val facepalmed.
"Now do you want my help, Valentine?" Windsor teased.
Val raised an eyebrow. "How could you possibly help?"
"I know from your experience how to make Usain like you. Don't act like someone you're not, and don't act like a bumbling mess around him," Windsor lectured. “Both are embarrassing to watch.”
Val sent the camera an unamused gaze.

Val assembled a skewer, and joined Usain in deep frying.
"So, uh…" Val chuckled awkwardly, "deep fry skewers often?"
"Not really, no," Usain responded with a flat look.
World Interview: Jocks
"Deep fry skewers often? Seriously? Is that the best she can do?" Usain asked.
"I'm sure she's just trying her best,” Lightning reasoned. “I never thought that a girl as beautiful as Val would have trouble flirting."

Bark finished eating, and threw the skewer in the trash. "Done!" he said.
"Alright!" Bite cheered, and accepted the tip from the vendor. She glanced over at the rickshaws. "Looks like a Botch or Watch. You dived for the ring in Hawaii, so it's your turn."
"Okay, let's go," Bark agreed, and they went to get a rickshaw.
Carrie and Devin looked in a crate, and saw that a snake was curled up in the shape of a heart.
"Aw, look Devin," Carrie smiled at Devin, "It must be a sign."
Devin smiled back, and was randomly attacked by the snake biting at his face.
Meanwhile, Spud attempted to skewer a starfish. Rather than skewer it down the middle, he tried skewering one of the starfish's arms. "Whoa, if I had that many arms, I could play guitar, drums, and bass all at the same time."
"Man, hurry up," Rock urged his partner.
Outside Interview: Rockers
"I think a choco oink would really help me pick it up, you know?" Spud prompted.
Rock raised a challenging eyebrow, and took out a choco oink. "Yeah, one of these? Sure hope there's some left when we aren't in last place." He curled the snack up in his fist.
"You can't do-" Spud gasped.
"Can't what?" Rock prodded, crushing the choco oink in his fist into crumbs.
Spud screamed in horror, and bent down to the sidewalk to eat the crumbs.

"There!" Jacques pointed at the approaching Great Wall. "First place, here we come! Yes!"
Unbeknownst to the Ice Dancers, a banana peel was lying in their path. They were so focused on reaching the wall that Josee stepped on the peel, and slipped, propelling the rickshaw forward without her. Jacques screamed as the transport spiraled out of control, and got stuck on a rock, launching him into the air and onto the wall. "My ankle!"
Val and Usain's skewers were finally ready, and they handed them to their respective partners.
While Windsor took modest bites of her skewer, Lightning opened his mouth, and stuck the whole skewer in, pulling it out clean. After a couple chews, he swallowed. "Done!"
"Are you serious?" Windsor asked after swallowing a bit.
Lightning pointed to Windsor's skewer. "You gonna finish that?"
Bite pulled Bark along, and the latter looked a little worse for wear. Bite noticed this as well.
"Um, are you okay?" she questioned.
Bark put on his best smile. "Never better. Just a little full from the skewer-" Bark was interrupted by his cheeks bulging mid-answer, and he hurled on the side of the road.
Outside Interview: Bite
Bark was hunched over on the side of the road, puking into the grass. Bite stood in the foreground near the camera.
"Yeah, that could've been me blowing chunks if he ate the stew and I had to eat the fried food," Bite admitted.

The Party Dudes and Police Cadets arrived at the Great Wall, and were stuck with two different directions.
"Which way?" Sanders pondered.
"Should we split up?" Geoff asked.
Brody smiled, and slung an arm around MacArthur. "Good idea. I'll go with MacArthur!"
"Dude, I meant one team goes right and the other team goes left," Geoff explained.
World Interview: Police Cadets
"It's not Brody's fault he's crushing on me,” MacArthur smirked. “Doctors say my pheromones are stronger than a jet engine built by grizzly bears."
"What?" Sanders raised an eyebrow. "That doesn't even make sense."
MacArthur snorted. "Oh, right. ‘Cause you're a bear expert."

Josee and Jacques stopped running along the Great Wall's path, and looked both ways the wall went, not sure which way they're supposed to go.
"Which way?" Josee panted.
Jacques growled as he held up the map to observe it. "This map is useless!"
Josee snatched the map out of his hand, took out her lava rock and gave it a kiss, and then rubbed the rock on the map. "I'll let luck decide." She pocketed her charm, and tossed the map up in the air, letting it get caught by the wind. "Chill Zone, here we come!" The Ice Dancers ran off, pursuing their map.
"Five more teams have finished the eating challenge, leaving our last two skewered up teams," Don narrated as the Goths, Tennis Rivals, Father & Son, Best Friends, Sisters, and Extreme Girls got their tips. Tammy struggled to eat her skewer, while Spud and Jen had yet to deep fry theirs.
Jen came back from another round of vomiting, and Tom took the skewer. "Stand aside. I'm cooking," he said, skewering some worms in the crate.
"But I can't do the eating…" Jen groaned as Tom went over to the fryer.
Outside Interview: Fashion Bloggers
"But it's not chicken," Jen protested, holding her bucket in front of her.
"Doesn't matter. Say it like you mean it over and over. Make your mind believe it's chicken," Tom encouraged her.
"Okay… it's chicken. It's chicken. It's chicken. It's chicken!" Jen started to believe it every time she recited the mantra, and eventually dropped the bucket to the ground.

Tom finished deep frying, and handed it over to Jen.
"It's chicken… it's chicken… it's chicken…" Jen bit into the skewer.
"That's it! Now taste the chicken!" Tom cheered her on.
Spud ran over to Rock with a skewer ready to eat. "I can has choco oink?" he asked as Rock took the skewer.
"No, dude, we're still in last," Rock stated. He took a glance at the skewer, and his cheeks bulged.
World Interview: Rockers
"Once, I ate deep fried tofu. I was like blegh, and this was all like krkrkrkrkrk," Rock explained, imitating a twitch while Spud watched on.

Tammy swallowed, and winced. "Done!" She and Max took their tip, and ran off to the next part of the challenge.
Lightning flexed his muscles as Usain pulled their cart along. "So why are you shooting Val down?"
"It's a competition. Relationships can mess it up and we need the money," Usain responded as he ran.
"Lightning hasn't forgotten about that man," Lightning responded. “All I'm sayin’ is-”
"Get it over with so that you and me can beat them? No can do. You can't rush love," Usain replied, ending the discussion.
As they went along the road, their wheel hit a large rock, and wobbled off the cart, unbalancing the Jocks and they screamed while they crashed. Usain saw their wheel rolling away. "Our wheel!"
Moments later, Val and Windsor came around, Windsor accidentally running over the wheel and crushing it. "It's destroyed! We're going to be eliminated," Lightning began to panic when the Pranksters stopped next to them.
"Hey, you guys need a hand?" Windsor inquired.
Val got out of the rickshaw, and walked over to the Jocks. "Hi, Usain. Act normal." Val closed her eyes, and they shot open in realization. "That part wasn't supposed to be out loud. I was talking to myself."
"Just stop," Usain pleaded.
"Okay!" Val quickly shut up.
Bark and Bite stopped in the middle of the Great Wall, looking both ways.
"Which way should we go?" Bite asked.
Holding his stomach, Bark replied, "You decide. I'm still recovering from that vomiting episode."
Bite looked around to see if anything could be a clue. Eventually, she found nothing, and just pointed off to her right. "We're going this way."
On another part of the Great Wall, the Party Dudes and the Police Cadets were still running to their left.
"This has got to be wrong. We should turn around," Sanders spoke up.
"180! Let's do it!" Geoff agreed enthusiastically. Both teams quickly did a U-Turn, and started going back the way they came. "Oh yeah!" he whooped.
Usain and Windsor ran side by side, pulling their rickshaws at the same speed.
Usain glanced back for a second. "Is this too fast, Val?"
"Nope," Val denied. "It's good." She was standing on the seat of her and Windsor's rickshaw, hunched over the side and holding the part of Usain and Lightning's rickshaw that once held their missing wheel.
"Doesn't that hurt?" Lightning asked as he watched her.
"Oh yeah. I'm in pain, but Usain's very hot," Val answered, causing both Jocks to smile. "That was out loud again, wasn't it?"
At the Chill Zone, Don smiled upon seeing the first team to arrive.
"Bulldogs, first time arriving at the Chill Zone first! Congrats!" Don congratulated the team.
"Alright! We did it, laddie!" Bite cheered.
Bark groaned while straining to smile. "Cheers. I think I need to use the restroom or something." He walked away from the Carpet of Completion, still holding his stomach. Bite, who was frowning in concern, followed after him.
The Jocks and Pranksters reached the Great Wall, and walked to their right, the camera's left.
Glancing at Val, Usain asked, "How's your hand?"
Smiling at her crush, Val answered, "It's fine," she held up her left hand while frowning. "This one, not so much." Her left hand was red and swollen.
"I'm good at massaging. Give me your hand." Taking hold of Val's hand in both of his, Usain held it and massaged it to get the swelling down. "What you did was really cool. Does this feel better?"
"It's actually really painful," Val began to say, prompting Usain to stop, "but don't stop. Oh no, was that out loud?"
Lightning smiled. "You didn't say anything." Beside him, Windsor smiled as well.
"Oh, good."
Jacques and Josee continued to run down the Great Wall's path, and gasped when they saw the Police Cadets and Party Dudes coming their way.
"If they're coming towards us," Jacques realized as he turned to Josee, "then we're going the wrong way!" He and Josee panicked, and immediately turned around, running just a few feet ahead of the other two teams.
Outside Interview: Junior
Dwayne was in the background standing in front of the rickshaw, though his pants were down.
“My dad has to pull the rickshaw?” Junior moaned in the foreground.
“No problem, Santa! I'll pull your sleigh,” Dwayne said until he noticed that his boxers were showing. “Where are my legs?!” he yelled.
Interview Ends
France grunted as she pulled Paris in the rickshaw.
"Just imagine that you're being chased by the pack of dogs from Mr. Yank's house," Paris encouraged.
"Too bad they aren't here!" France said.
Just a few feet behind them, Emma was pulling Kitty.
"I feel so-!" Kitty almost retched. "Are we almost at the Great Wall?"
Emma continued to stare ahead, but answered her partner. "I think so. I think I can see it up ahead."
Rock finished putting a wheel that had fallen off back on the rickshaw. "There. That should hold it until-" Rock stopped as he turned around to see Spud eating the choco oinks. "Seriously? Did you just down all the choco oinks?"
"Maybe," Spud answered.
"I needed those to motivate you!" Rock complained.
"To eat them all? Done!" Spud threw the empty box over his shoulder.
"It's not like it matters anyway. You're not the one pulling the rickshaw," Rock told him.
World Interview: Rockers
"A few years ago, Spud ate a whole box of chocolate covered coffee beans," Rock recalled.
"Yeah, I did over three thousand consecutive power slides," Spud added.
"Yeah man," Rock agreed. "It was all whzow, wah, and pshoom!"

Tom began to run, towing the rickshaw behind him.
“Are you sure you're going to be fine Jen?” Tom checked on his partner, who was beginning to recover.
"Ask me later Tom. Keep pulling the rickshaw," Jen said.
At the Chill Zone, the Pranksters and Jocks were debating who should step on it first.
"Only one team can come in second," Don reminded them.
"You two can go," Val gestured for the Jocks to go ahead of her and Windsor.
Lightning began to step onto the Carpet of Completion, but was stopped by Usain holding out his arm.
"I would accept, but you girls should take this one. You did swell up your hand for us," Usain reasoned, smiling at Val meaningfully.
"I like you," Val told him with a smile back.
"Do you want me to change my mind?" Usain laughed.
World Interview: Pranksters
"You know you're on good terms with a team of competitive jocks when they allow you to win," Windsor joked while Val watched her with a smile.

“We almost done delivering the presents?” Dwayne wondered while pulling Junior.
“Presents?” Junior asked in surprise. “Oh, right. Ho, ho, ho!”
"Go, Max! You can do it!" Tammy cheered as Max pulled her before the Rockers and Fashion Bloggers passed them.
Josee found herself twitching as she screeched "Fourth again?!" Beside her, Jacques glared at Don.
"Yes, fourth always comes after third,” Don said. “The numbers are sequential."
World Interview: Ice Dancers
Josee could be heard raging, and breaking stuff off-screen. Jacques sat in front of the camera, smiling hesitantly while giving thumbs-up, carefully dodging objects flying past him.

"Fifth!" Police Cadets. "Sixth!" Party Dudes. "Seventh!" Goths. "Eighth!" Tennis Rivals. "Ninth!" Best Friends. "Tenth!" Sisters. "Eleventh!" Extreme Girls. "Twelfth!" Father & Son.
"There's the Chill Zone!" Tom cheered and ran for it.
Behind him, Jen started to feel woozy. "Ohhh… that was not chicken…" she moaned and then threw up on the back of Tom’s head, forcing him to scream and trip on his feet, preventing them from moving forward and allowing the Rockers and Villains to run past them.
"Thirteenth!" Don awarded to the Rockers. "Fourteenth!" he said to the Villains.
The Fashion Bloggers got on the Carpet of Completion, Jen wiping her vomit off of Tom with a tissue.
"Fashion Bloggers," Don informed Jen and Tom, "I'm afraid you're the last team to arrive."
"Aw… we were so close," Jen moaned.
It was then that the Villains came onto the Carpet. “So it would appear that you two will be departing,” Max said.
“Afraid so,” Tom nodded.
“Sorry we can't continue our partnership,” Jen said, “but hopefully we can see each other after the race.”
“That would be nice,” Tammy smiled. “I've never told Max this, but I've watched your blog, and I'm a huge fan.”
“Why did you not tell me, sidekick?” Max shot a look her way. “You should know that-”
“We'll promote jumpsuits on our blog when we get home,” Jen assured him.
“As a way of making both of you happy,” Tom added. “They're really appealing.”
Max's anger evaporated after hearing that. “In that case, I'm letting this slide, Tammy,” he smiled and walked away with Tammy. “Until we meet again.”
“Bye guys,” Jen waved at them while she and Tom smiled.
“I wouldn't call this a failure in any way,” Tom said as their montage played. “We so kicked butt.”
“We nearly died so many times on that skywalk, in that geyser field, oh, on that vine,” Jen recalled. “But we totally did it.”
“Yay us,” Tom cheered.
“Doing this race is a huge test of how strong your friendship is. And I think we did great,” Jen said.
“Greater than great,” Tom agreed.
“Sorry about puking on you earlier,” Jen added as they were walking home. “I'll use some of my money to get you a new shirt.”
“That's generous, but I think it can be spent on my dime instead,” Tom refused politely.

Skypiea Arc is often thought of as a microcosm of the story of One Piece, and the main conflict in that arc was due to Vearth; a piece of earth/soil that arrived at Sky Island that allowed citizens of Skypiea to cultivate vegetation on it. Enel, in his search for Fairy Vearth, the Endless Earth, flew to the Moon, but when he arrived there, Fairy Vearth was nowhere to be found. That’s because Fairy Vearth is the name of the land mass that once existed 900 years ago, before it was swallowed by the 200-meter flood, and the Red Line that encircles it.
It is “endless” as it goes around the world; like Ouroboros.
The literal translation of the Red Line is „Continent of Red Earth“, and at the top of that, lies Pangaea Castle, named after the real world supercontinent that once existed, and that will once again exist.

The Ancient Kingdom

According to Whitebeard, there used to exist a "Kingdom of Gods" (神の国, Kami no Kuni?) at the top of the Red Line, inhabited by a tribe of "gods" – The Lunarians. Eventually, the Lunarians would be driven to near extinction and Mary Geoise would be built on their homeland.

These events bear striking similarity to the events that transpired between the Twenty Kingdoms, now known as the World Government, and the Ancient Kingdom. It is said that the Twenty Kings united against the Ancient Kingdom, and after defeating it, they erased any mention of it from history, made sure to exterminate any member of their tribe, and, I believe, they took their home as their own. Everything so far points to the inhabitants of the Great Kingdom being Lunarians.
This might not be common knowledge, due to the anime never adapting Enel’s cover story, but the Skypieans, Birkans, and Shandians all originate from the Moon, and have arrived at the Earth because they exhausted the Moon’s resources.

If the inhabitants of Skypiea (Sky Island) are called „Skypieans“, the inhabitants of Birka (Moon) are called „Birkans“, and the inhabitants of Shandia (Blue Sea) are called „Shandians“, does that mean the place Lunarians once inhabited is called “Lunaria” (Red Line)? Is the name of the Ancient Kingdom actually Lunaria?

Or, perhaps, Lunaria was only the name of a city in the Kingdom known as "Eden".

The Garden of Eden

Despite Lunarians containing the Latin word for “Moon” in their name, and having similarities to the other moon people, there is actually nothing in the story that suggests they actually originate from it. Instead, their name derives from “lunaria”, a plant whose name means “moon-like”.
The tattoo on King’s face might be a reference to the plant itself.
Recently, One Piece has been drawing increasingly more parallels with the events from the Bible; the Great Flood, Noah’s Ark, and the Lunarians/Seraphims being based on the Seraph Angels immediately come to mind, but there are also some older examples, such as the Sunlight Tree Eve and Treasure Tree Adam being named after the first two humans. According to the Bible, Adam and Eve defied God and ate the Forbidden Fruit (of knowledge of good and evil), a crime for which they were banished from the Garden of Eden. I believe the citizens of the Ancient Kingdom, be the Lunarians or some other race, came from outer space, and were primarily known for their cultivation skills.

Besides the aforementioned Adam and Eve trees, we also have the Whale Tree on Zou, the Tree of Knowledge, the Devil Fruits, the Giant Jack, etc, and the imagery of otherworldly beings that would “plant life” across the Universe is surprisingly common in fiction. Marvel Comics have a character by the name of “Gardener)”, a virtually immortal being who devoted his life to the creation of natural beauty by sowing the seeds of plants, flowers, and trees upon barren or devastated worlds. But, more relevant to Manga, Japan has a famous story that dates way back from the 9th or 10th century, called “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”, also known as “The Tale of Princess Kaguya”, in which the titular Princess Kaguya is found as a baby in a bamboo plant. I’m sure you are familiar with this myth thanks to Naruto.
The Great Kingdom had a garden in which they grew fruit. Eventually, they would create what is now known as Devil Fruits, and the one who was in charge of gardening them was no other than Joyboy.

Farm Boy and the Straw Hat

Chapter 1114 revealed Joyboy to be the very first person to be called a Pirate, confirming decade-old theories in the process, but I think what is more intriguing here is what or who Joyboy was before he sailed under a Jolly Roger. Time and time again, we are met with characters forced into the life of piracy for different reasons, some more noble than others. Kaido was a child soldier betrayed by his country and sold into servitude to the Marines, Whitebeard took it upon himself to provide money for his hometown and Joyboy, I believe, was a farmer.

The imagery of a straw hat is ever so present in the story; it’s not only an object our protagonist can be seen donning on his head, passed down to him from Shanks who got it passed down from Roger – a quite literal inherited will - but also something that we see with the GIANT straw hat locked in a vault at Mary Geoise. And naturally, the theories surrounding what the straw hat stands for are born out of this recurrence. Some theories suggest that this very straw hat is the National Treasure of Marijoas that Doflamingo spoke of and others suggest that the straw hat symbolically represents the sunrise (dawn). To me, the straw hat is simply just that - a hat.

As someone who grew up on a farm, when I look at the straw hat, the first thing that comes to mind is my grandpa working in the field, in the harsh heat of the sun, using the cheapest possible piece of clothing to protect himself from it. It’s an image of a farmer, the working man, the common-folk, or, in the case of Joyboy, perhaps that of a slave working in the fields, cultivating vegetables and fruits for his masters – the citizens of the Ancient Kingdom. There is a saying that all great civilizations were built upon slavery and I perhaps the Ancient Kingdom was no different.

The Sun God Nika

History of the World is the history of injustices perpetuated by those in power to those they enslaved. Joyboy and his people, either the Buccaneers or Giants, were one of those people (because of the Giant Hat). The Legend of Sun God Nika probably stems from Joyboy’s desire to free the slaves due to his personal experience of being one, mirroring the journey of both Fisher Tiger and Kuma. Tiger and Kuma were also slaves turned pirates, having a desire to use everything in their power to free as many slaves as they could, emulating the legend of Nika.

Joyboy being a farmer might seem a bit random, but the reason for it is actually quite simple – one of the main focuses of the Manga is fruit. Since Chapter 1 - even before with the pilot chapter - the main draw of the Manga were the Devil Fruits. Yes, it’s also about Luffy’s adventure to become the Pirate King, but Luffy isn’t just a pirate; he is a pirate with fantastical powers to stretch which he gained from eating a fruit. It only makes sense, to me, that the man known as the first Pirate would also somehow be connected to the concept of the Devil Fruits.
You see, fruits grow on trees. Presumably, we are eventually going to see the Devil Fruit Tree upon which the first Devil Fruits grew, and to grow trees you need soil to plant them in. You need fertile earth where they can grow, an overabundance of which could’ve been found centuries ago, before the water levels rose, and before all that land was lost.

That was the “supercontinent” of the World of One Piece (yes, I am aware there were more than just one continent). If the world is eventually flooded, as it seems to be headed towards, then the very resource the Skypieans came from the Moon for will soon be extinct. The only remaining source of this valuable resource will now be the Red Line, which is in its entirety ruled over by Celestial Dragons who stole it from the Lunarians. Celestial Dragons would, quite literally, have complete control over the Earth.

The Original Sin

Nika/Joyboy seem to be closely tied in with pretty much every race in One Piece: Fishmen, Giants, Lunarians, Bucaneers, and all of these races have one thing in common - they were, in one way or another, discriminated against. Lunarians and Bucaneers have basically been exterminated, Fishmen have been driven to the bottom of the sea, and Giants want nothing to do with the World Government or the Navy. This leads me to believe all of these groups have fought on the side of Joyboy during the War, with Joyboy himself being a member of the Buccaneer race.

The great sin, the Original Sin, of the Buccaneer race is that they share blood with the man who “stole” the Devil Fruit he is meant to garden, and used it to opposed the Twenty Kings, which would eventually lead to his banishment and him becoming the first pirate. However, I think there is a twist here because, much like Eve, Joyboy was tricked into consuming the Devil Fruit.

The World Serpent

There is a missing component for the story to make sense, and it’s about the War between Twenty Kings and The Ancient Kingdom, and I think that missing component is Nerona Imu - the Deceiver.
Imu carries the name of a Roman Emperor
We know that the Twenty Kings united against The Great Kingdom and upon defeating it, they took over ruling the World. However, there are 2 things missing here:

1. The Alabasta Kingdom and Princess Lili refused to join the Twenty Kings, making them only 19, in forming the World Government.
2. Imu also lied about leaving the Throne of the World empty and took it upon themselves to sit upon it.

That’s why I believe Imu was someone who not only deceived the Twenty Kings but also someone who deceived Joyboy into eating the first Devil Fruit. Like how in the Bible, Eve, in desire for knowledge, was tricked by the serpent (Orochi), the embodiment of Envy, to eat the forbidden fruit. The Demon that is often used to represent the Sin of Envy is Leviathan, a giant sea-serpent that is the embodiment of chaos. Leviathan is often compared to various other dieties, like Tiamat (Dragon) or, more importantly, Jörmungandr.

Jörmungandr is an unfathomably large sea serpent from the Norse Mythology, who dwells in the world sea, encircling the Earth (Midgard) and biting his own tail, an example of an ouroboros. As a result of it surrounding Midgard (the Earth), it is referred to as the World Serpent. The Norse Mythology is the same one the Giants from One Piece heavily borrow from in their aestethics, and the Giants seem to be familiar with Nika.
“Snake soaked in blood” is how Ouroboros is often depicted as (red snake), and it’s also the color of the Red Line. Red Line is also said to be indestructible.
Furthermore, Jörmungandr releasing its tail is one of the signs of the beginning of Ragnarök (the final battle of the world). I believe that the Red Line is meant to represent the World Serpent, the destruction of which will signal the end of the Great War that has been going on for 900 years.

Interestingly, the only other fruit mentioned in the Garden of Eden was the Fruit of Immortality, which perfectly lines up with the idea of Imu being immortal. In his goal to take over Marijoas, Doflamingo, someone aware of Imu’s existence, first desired the immortality granted to him by Law’s Devil Fruit. He knew that to usurp an immortal ruler, he’d need to be immortal as well.

Tl;dr

The Endless Earth that Enel was searching for isn’t the Moon but rather the land mass that once existed, 800+ years ago, before the 200-meters flood, and the Red Line that encircles it. It used to be the place where the Ancient Kingdom of Lunaria existed, inhabited by Lunarians, before the 20 Kings united to take away their home. They had advanced technology, the same one we saw on the Moon, which they used to cultivate plants, and eventually create Devil Fruits.

Someone on my Dawn of the Jedi post asked about Gray Jedi so I'm going to make a post with a few controversial takes with 0 mention of the Jensaari, Voss or any cult like groups or characters who are just in essence sorcerers. I placed my top 9 Gray Jedi that have done controversial things or strayed away from what the norm was for their time period. These are not character break downs, just a summarization on my takes.

1. What can't we not say about Jaina Solo? She married into the Empire, aggressive in combat and straying away from the orthodox Jedi Ways.

2.Atris(my favorite Jedi) was the survivor of the Jedi Purge during the Dark Wars, she still stood as the keeper of the order in hiding and it was her ideals that followed way into the Clone Wars for the Jedi, though where she differs from the norm is that she was also keeping libraries of ancient sith holocrons (cut/ restored content).

1. Alright Kyle Katarn, Battlemaster of Luke's Jedi Academy, famous for saying It's about how you use it, referring to the force.
   
2. Qui-Gon Jinn, rebel within the Jedi order with not agreeing with their philosophies, while still being a great man.
   
3. Rahm Kota, Clone Wars Era Veteran who thought "Clones were weak" and instead lead an army of more trustworthy Human Republic troops while living in the shadows when the Republic fell.
   
4. Quinlan Vos was an internal tug of war while never trusting Clones, himself or his master Dooku, off balance, but he was more on the side of light than Dark, especially after the fall of Dooku.
   
5. Yes Count Dooku despite being a "Sith" is Gray. Like many of the Jedi on this list who are well part of the Jedi Order, why not talk about a man who is on the Sith side but is a Gray? Count Dooku fell with the ideals of the order and decided to want to go his own route studying the Darkside and getting into politics. He has great displeasure in murder, given accounts of internal regrets over Syfo Dyas and even seeing Jango Fett getting his head cut off. He never had the Corrupted eyes and was still a fair man. He believed the Jedi Order to be a shell of what it once was.
   
6. Jolee Bindo was a Jedi Knight during the days of Nomi Sunrider, he would speak of her to levels of admiration. Though with the constant wars and deaths caused by Fallen Jedi, he would eventually go into hiding in Kashyyk being wise figure and sometimes hilariously a disgruntled grandpa to the mind wiped Revan.
   
7. Jaden Korr being older and chosen for Luke's Jedi Academy. His city boy attitude and being a Padawan to the Battlemaster Kyle Katarn was already in the making of a Jedi that didn't quite fit the Mold. Being under Kyle Katarn he learned both light and Darkside and struggled with it early on, but always did the right thing in the end.

Destroyed an entire system when he was young and when he was older, He had attendees against the Jedi like Revan during the Mandalorian wars.
   

How does Josh go from making ridiculous food/dancing videos on TikTok to becoming one of the most universally disliked people on the internet? The downfall of josh is one that needs to be studied. MQ as well as all the other enablers around Josh have essentially ruined his life. He is in a cycle of having to drink to make his money, he saw what happened when he stopped posting his drinking vids and views fell off heavily. He funnels all of his money into dinners and drinks he cannot afford, goes on two day "vacations" which he then tries to flex on his viewers, claims he is "famous as fuck" all while harassing LIRR goers and anyone unfortunate enough to come into contact with him, freely says slurs, and is NINE THOUSAND dollars in debt while doing nothing to remedy this situation, ect. He lives in his own world of delusion and filth while looking down on everyone. I want to feel bad for him because of all of this but his actions make it impossible to do so. I know these aren't any new takes but I would like to pose some questions:
one, how does his Grandpa not know about his addiction and if he does how do you let your grandson do that to himself?
Two, do you have sympathy for josh?
This may be tone deaf to shit on an autistic guy but I'm so tired of watching him kill himself and just get props from those around him.

I should preface that my dad isn't the worst narcissist, more cluelessly self obsessed than outright aggressive or cruel (he's a musician, not super famous or anything but well known locally). I would describe the relationship as strained but with a good front to make things look like all is well.
Since I gave birth my dad has been really disappointing me more than usual. He treats my daughter as a way to get likes on Facebook. He only holds her to take photos.
Becoming a grandfather made him freak out a bit about getting older I think and he's still insisting that he isn't a grandpa/grandad but his own special made up title. Even well meaning comments on photos or videos (taken from our family group chat and posted without asking first) referring to him as a grandfather are rudely corrected to his made up title.
I can't quite explain why it bothers me so much, but it's sort of like he's happy to get the kudos but without the actual... responsibility feels like the wrong word, but... it feels like a remake of my childhood, where if I needed him he wouldn't respond to "dad" but only his stage name.
Anyway, I was looking through a greeting card website for grandparent aimed father's day cards that could be edited, so I could send a card with his stupid grandparent title and just got so pissed off. I'm not bothering. Not with a father's day card from me or a grandfather one from my baby.
My daughter's other grandfather lives on the other side of the world. He visited for the birth, insisted he was really going to put the effort in to get in contact every week, but so far has only bothered once, and I feel slightly gutted that my daughter might not have a halfway decent relationship with either of her grandfathers.
I just needed to vent. I feel guilty even thinking badly about the whole situation but I now find his behaviour so stressful it's harder to pretend it doesn't bother me.

Also, it brought to mind a parallel thing which you may find interesting - Following Winter's Bone, Debra Granick similarly was fascinated/loved the nonactor she found who plays Thump, the grandpa/patriarch who is so intimidating and something of a final antagonist for Ree. His name is Ron "Stray Dog" Hall.
Anyhow he's a biker, dog lover, neat guy, and she made a full on doc all about him called Stray Dog. It's great.
No word yet on any parts of Strays life Tarantino may plan to use.

*The chapters alternate narration between Sam and Nia, so I have marked each section for clarity. There's also "time shifts" throughout each chapter and I've done my best to describe those but it's whiplash worthy so... doing my best. *
-Chapter 1 (Sam): We begin with Sam being at work and his coworkers seeing their viral video being talked about on the news. He describes himself going into a "trance like state" over memories of his father cheating. There's zero tie-in between these two things. Then we go back to reality and he begins talking about how he was destined for fame and he knew as much his whole life.
-Chapter 2 (Nia): Nia waxes poetic on being recognized in public for the first time and how this was positively impacting Sam. Basically, he was acting more affectionate and pleasant and it reminded her of when they met in high school. She reveals that she was the love child of a member of a formerly "semi popular" band by the name of London but he didn't want a kid so she's never known him. Mom was an addict. She lived with grandma and grandpa. Grandpa cheats and dips. Nia believes being an only child in a single mom household made her an outcast. I feel like this explains some of the reasoning she stays with Sam.
-Chapter 3 (Sam): The cringiest quote from this chapter is as follows...
"To add some friendly one-upmanship, I titled it Good Looking Parents Sing Disney’s Frozen, Love is an Open Door. I’d admit that it was clickbait since we actually didn’t sing, but considering the video would earn us the award for best video at the AMG Heritage Awards that year, I’d say it was more like clickart."
Yeah. Clickart. Anyway. He reminisces on when he made a lip sync video in high school to Howie Day's song "Collide", after droning on about how creative him and Nia are. I'm failing to understand the creativity of either of the videos he has spoken on. He talks about the first time he met Nia at some theater thing for their school. He approached her and the first thing he ever said to her was "you have big teeth". Be still my heart. Love at first sight, blah blah blah, it's all about her looks. He gets a nosebleed. What the fuck is any of this anymore?
-Chapter 4 (Nia): They talk with their pastor about YouTube strategizing because he's had "extensive involvement" in the YouTube space. Arguably, they should have looked into hiring a pro and maybe someone for PR but hindsight is 20/20. They decide they're gonna use their channel to promote Christian family life and the Ellen show went with a copycat lip syncer as a guest instead of them supposedly because of this. Nia sees Sam suddenly has laser focus and excitement since their newfound "fame" and is "falling in love with him all over again". She then goes into a memory of when her and Sam stayed in their empty house after they bought it and had a conversation about never using the word divorce before they boned in an empty room.
-Chapter 5 (Sam): Starts out talking about the monetarily beneficial opportunities that were poured on them after The Viral Video™️. Then they're at church and he decides to go up during the altar call and describes it as essentially embarrassing and creating an appearance of weakness. He's prayed for and suddenly felt better. But also, he says that he knew there was a "small object in his shoe" that he would eventually have to deal with (that small object was his hidden and various forms of adulterous behavior, we know now). He switches the point of the chapter again to focus on the monetary stuff and describes them blowing thousands upon thousands on first class vacations, "upscale restaurants", Super Bowl tickets, etc.
-Chapter 6 (Nia): The "bombshell" chapter they've hinted at on their channel reveals that a viewer called in a report to CPS and a social worker came to her home to conduct an interview. She describes very normal procedure, and juxtaposes it against some alarmingly aggressive responses/urges she had toward the social worker. There's some chunk in here where she describes Sam getting her really expensive jewelry for Christmas that year, there is no reason for this side story. Sam whips out a camera to try and vlog the CPS worker and the interview being conducted with their daughter. I shit you not.
Anyway, the report was made because of chew marks on the crib and a full diaper trash can. Case is closed. Nia decides to share even more online to stick it to the haters.
-Chapter 7 (Sam): Sam says they're taking the Duggar route to hell and "letting god decide" on family planning. He also drops this nugget, which isn't surprising to read but I think it's important...
"Considering a year had passed since our first viral video, and with our channel’s engagement gradually declining, I felt we were overdue for another hit. Given the proven success of pregnancy announcements on YouTube and Nia’s and my decision to continue to grow our family, I felt the golden opportunity I was searching for was close at hand. My creativity was sparked."
He didn't outright say "we decided to try to conceive a child for content", but... draw your own conclusions here I guess. I got the ick from this. He describes the hatching of his brain child to test a toilet bowl of diluted urine to check Nia for pregnancy. He describes this as a multi month process wherein he at times altered the toilet and did, indeed, record himself fiddling with her piss multiple times. Gross. Oh, then talks about how pretty Nia was at the wedding. I have yet to see him laud her for anything other than her looks so far.
-Chapter 8 (Nia): Starts talking about her viewpoint on Pissgate 2015 and how enchanting it was. Describes her stressful points of pregnancy/birth and postpartum depression with the other two kids. Notably addresses Sam behaving oddly (pre viral fame), says she felt there was something happening with him that she didn't know about, implying that this was not helpful for her while dealing with her PPD.
-Chapter 9 (Sam): Pissgate hits the viral track in earnest and Sam keeps thinking about the word "chosen" because he's gods most special goodest boy. He shares a moment from childhood when a person at a store told his mom that, because she has 5 kids, it increases the odds one will become famous. He commits it in his head that this will be his role in life. Narrative shift again, says he wonders why this viral thing is happening to them again after spending his previous chapter describing an intensive and yucky process that he was doing specifically to get another viral video. I cannot stand this dude.
-Chapter 10 (Nia): Sam and Nia go to dinner at Sam's mom's house. Nia feels "a twinge of discomfort", finds out she's spotting. She basically details out the process of finding out she's losing the baby and gets a little graphic toward the end. I feel there is no benefit to me detailing it here any further than that. Sam keeps calling her "cutie" as he tries to comfort her which sounds so fucking odd.
There are 45 chapters from these "redeemed and healed" chucklefucks. If I can survive getting through it, I will post sets of "breakdowns" as I'm able.

Italy. Spain. France. England. Australia. There are so many amazing options but I can only pick one yet whichever one I pick is one which could strongly impact the rest of my life or at least the next few years of my life because this isn't just a vacation, it's more of a temporary staycation. "Can I help you, ma'am?" An effeminate voice with a southern twang asks me. I narrow my eyes from the board on the wall to the young man behind the desk who was looking at me with a big, bright smile on his glossy lips. "Actually, you can...do you fancy playing Russian roulette with me?" I ask him with a smile and he looks at me like I've lost my qmind. "Ma'am...this is an airport, it's not a casino" He says and I chuckle. "I know that, sir, I'm just looking to get away from New York for a little while but I'm stuck on where to go" I say and he rolls his eyes in a jokey and semi-serious kind of way. "Let me guess, you're running away from a boy?" "Got it in one" I say while nodding my head and smiling. Dylan Tate is definitely a little boy. Grown men who are mature don't do what he did. "You really shouldn't let a man run you out of your own home, honey because the moment you give a man that type of power and control, it's hard to get it back" "Well, it's kind of hard to stay here when my fiance screwed my brother behind my back" I say angrily while smiling a sad and pained smile as the guy behind the desk gasps dramatically and clutches at his invisible pearls. He then arranges my ticket for me and books me on the next flight to London. I was so excited but I was also feeling really nervous as well, especially when I was handed my ticket and I was told what gate I had to go to. The reason why I felt this way is because this meant it was real, I was really leaving not just New York but also America, my home and right now with how I'm feeling, it's going to be for good. I thank the worker who wishes me good luck as I head towards my gate and take a seat letting out a sigh as I did. The past four weeks have been super freaking crazy and stressful for me and I just can't wait to get away for a little while so that I can get over recent events, get myself together and work on myself mentally. I take a sip of my water as my mind drifts back to four weeks ago when all of this mess started. My fiance Dylan Tate and I were hosting our engagement party at the Ritz Carlton and it was supposed to be the party of the century. The Carpenter, Black and Tate families are the top three most powerful, influential and richest families in New York's elite and the fact that two of these families were joining together through marriage was a big freaking deal but I didn't care about any of that. I was in so much shock and I couldn't believe I had been with Logan. I instantly freaked out and panicked because I didn't know how Logan was going to react when he woke up and realised he'd had been with me, the girl he had always seen as his younger sister and I really didn't wanna to stay to find out, so I quickly got dressed and left the hotel room. I then went home where of course, I found out I was the villain of my story because I had left my engagement party without a word and had shown up the next morning literally doing the walk of shame. My parents questioned me about where I had been? who I had been with? why did I leave? how could I embarrass the Carpenter and Tate familys the way that I did? you know all that blah, blah, blah BS. Of course, Luca and Dylan didn't say anything and they were only too happy to throw me to the wolves which broke my heart even further because they were supposed to love me, yet they didn't care and they stood there allowing me to take the brunt of the blame for last night when it was all their fault. Anyway, I took all of the abuse and all hell broke loose when I told them that the wedding was off and I didn't want to marry Dylan anymore which angered my parents, more specifically my dad who hit me for the first time in my life and he demanded or I should say he commanded me to still go through with the wedding. Even that fake piece of trash Dylan acted like a love-sick victim and begged me not to cancel the wedding and even had the nerve to say he'd forgive me, you know ME for MY indiscretions, the cheeky man but I refused to budge even despite my dad's determination for it to still go ahead. I didn't wanna fight them anymore, so I let them all think they had won, so while everyone was planning the wedding of the century, I was making plans of my own to leave and get away. I really didn't want to leave because at the end of the day, my family are still my family and I love them so much but I knew I could never forgive them, especially Luca. Luca was my best friend growing up and I was the closest to him out of all of my brothers which is why this is so devastating to me. It's also the reason why I stopped myself from publically dragging Luca and Dylan out of the closet and outing them to the world so that everyone would know I wasn't the big, bad wolf in this story because deep down inside of me, I still do love them both and I don't want to hurt either of them. There's also another reason why I'm leaving or I should say this was the final nail in the coffin if you will and that reason is because I'm pregnant with Logan's baby. I knew my parents would flip their lids when they found out and they'd either assume Dylan is the father and would use my baby to make the wedding happen sooner or they'd wanna know who the real father is and if they learned Logan is the father then they'd force me to marry him to save face. I didn't want either of those options, I didn't want Dylan and I didn't want Logan, I just wanted me and my baby, so I packed a bag and grabbed as much cash as I could because I didn't wanna take any cards with me in case they tried to track me down and I headed straight for JFK airport hoping to start a new life. I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard the boarding call for my flight. I let out a breath and smiled as I thought to myself this is it whilst placing a hand on my stomach. "It's just you and me from now on my little angel" I take a final deep breath in and slowly release it before standing up and grabbing my bags. "KIDS!!, BREAKFAST IS READY!!" "OK, MUM!!" I plate up mine and the kid's breakfasts and place them on the table along with four cups of orange juice and a cup of coffee for myself. I was grabbing a few condiments for the table when my three babies came barrelling into the room with my youngest son Dayton looking like he was going to a Marvel or DC convention. "Dayton baby, I thought I told you all to get ready for school?" "You did and I did" He said cheekily and I rolled my eyes. "Son, you can't wear your Batman mask and cape to school" "Why not? I look cool" He says and I chuckle. "Yes I know you do, son but you can't just wear it" "Why not?" "Because it's the rules, Dayton, we have to wear our school uniforms and nothing else" My one and only baby girl says before taking a sip of her drink. "But Elijah gets to wear his Spiderman costume every day, mum" "That's because Elijah is autistic, baby and the school are trying to make his school life a little bit easier and make it as comfortable as possible for him" I tell him for the umpteenth time and he drops his head in defeat. "Ok, fine...can I wear it after school?" He asks and I smile. "Of course, you can" I bend down and give him a kiss. "Now come and eat your breakfast before it gets all cold and soggy" "Ok, mum" Dayton and I take our seats and my eldest baby, my firstborn Logan couldn't resist making a comment about his brother's attire. "You look like a nerd, Dayton" "Says the one who is reading a chemistry book at the breakfast table" "It's biology actually and it doesn't hurt to want to warm your brain up before school" "That makes no sense at all" Dayton says while rolling his eyes. Logan reading a book before school is like a warm-up for him to go and learn" Why did that make so much sense?. I mean, don't get me wrong, my babies are smart, actually, they're super smart, so it shouldn't be surprising or shocking to me that they'd say something clever but it is every single time. "Ok guys, knock it off and eat, please" We all eat our food and I couldn't keep my eyes off my three bundles of joy as we ate. It was one of the biggest shocks of my life when I found out I was expecting triplets and I near fainted in the doctor's office, especially when my mind started going into overdrive about things like giving birth but thankfully the pregnancy and the birth went better than I expected because I had my best friend Carmella there with me and she's been there for me ever since. My kids are my entire life and have been ever since I left New York six years ago. I've got two handsome boys and a beautiful little girl who have all just turned five years old and they're the lights of my life. My eldest son is Logan David Junior, yes I named him after his biological father and his paternal grandfather David Black which is something that I never planned on doing at first but as soon as I gave birth to him and I held him for the very first time, I knew that I couldn't give him any other name. Logan is my quiet child and he's very introverted compared to his siblings, he also loves to learn new things and is always either studying, reading a book, watching educational programmes or looking up something educational on the internet. He's not as sociable as his brother and sister but he still likes to have fun and hang out with other kids his age just as long as he knows and trusts them. My baby is also obsessed with science and computers and is constantly learning the ins and outs of them both, hence why he's currently reading a biology book while he's eating his eggs. All three of my kids are very skilled musically and Logan is one hell of a pianist. He's won so many awards for it and he even performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the Royal Variety performance in front of the royal family last year which made me one hell of a proud momma wolf. Then there's my youngest son Dayton James who is named after my father. Dayton is my little troublemaker, he's my cheeky child who has got one hell of a smartass mouth and he loves to joke around and play pranks on people which I hate and I'm trying to knock it out of him but it's hard, especially when he religiously watches Home Alone because he says the main character Kevin is his idol. I really should've given Dayton the middle name Liam after my big brother because he's just like his uncle in every way possible, even his laugh is the same as Liam's. Despite being a Johnny Knoxville in training, Dayton is a mathematician which is something he must've gotten from his dad because I'm dumb as a chicken when it comes to numbers, he also loves the drums which fits perfectly with his personality and lately, he's been taking air guitar lessons with a tutor. Then there's my little princess, my daughter Teddy Louise who I named after my mom. Teddy is a little girly girl who is obsessed with Disney, she loves to get dressed up and look pretty but she's also not afraid to get her hands dirty. She loves it when it rains because she gets to stomp around in puddles but her favourite weather is when it snows because she loves to build snowmen and make snow angels. Teddy also loves to bake and can make pretty much anything but her favourite thing to bake is cupcakes because she loves to decorate them with different icing and sprinkles. She's obsessed with many forms of art and loves to learn about the history of different famous artists, especially the likes of Picasso and Van Gogh, they really intrigue her for some reason. Teddy also loves to play the flute and can play many different beautiful melodies on it but she's not as into it as her older brothers are with their instruments. All three of my kids are incredibly smart and they attend a special school for the gifted after they were referred there by their previous school when they all started showing signs of being child prodigies. I always knew my kids were special and were more intelligent than most other kids their ages but I never in my wildest dreams would have ever thought that one let alone all three of my babies would be child prodigies because I always believed they were rare like one in a million type of rare, yet I managed to birth three, that's crazy. "Mum" Dayton's cute, adorable voice broke me from my thoughts. "Yes, baby" "Can I have some more juice, please?" "Of course you can, do you two want some more as well?" I ask Logan and Teddy who nod their hands. I grab the jug of juice and fill up their glasses before sitting back down in my chair. "Thanks, mum" My babies said in unison while smiling and I smiled back at them. "You're welcome, babies" I said as I heard a noise coming from the front door which I knew was the mail. I once again get up from my chair and go to see what junk I've been sent today. I wasn't expecting anything important because all of my bills have been paid for and are up to date, so I wasn't expecting anything more than just junk mail and takeaway leaflets which they seriously need to stop giving us, the internet is a thing, folks. I let out a breath as I look through the pile but my eyes narrowed and I was confused/scared when one of the letters caught my attention for several reasons. The first reason is because of the American stamps and the address which are in the corners of the envelope. The latter is something the majority of the UK don't do, so that struck me as odd and the second reason is the very familiar handwriting on it which I immediately recognised as my grandfather Joseph's handwriting. My heart was beating a mile a minute and my anxiety had spiked as I continued to look at the envelope and they got worse as my fingers danced over the Christmas stamp which had been used to seal the letter. I didn't know what was in the letter but it was enough to make me feel panicked and nervous because nobody from my previous life except for Carmella knows where I live now, so how in on earth has my grandpa found out where I am? and why is he writing to me? what does he want?. "Mum, we need to go, we're going to be late" Teddy says and I look up to see all three of my kids standing in the hallway putting on their coats, hats, scarves and gloves. It's December and the weather is cold which is something I'm used to as a native of New York but in the UK, the mornings always seem really bitter, so I make sure we're all wrapped up warm whenever we leave the house. I place the pile of letters on the side cabinet and go to put on my coat and accessories before grabbing my bag and making sure I've got everything I need including my phone, purse, house keys and car keys. "Are you ready to go, babies?" "Yep" "Mmm-hmm" "Yes, mum" The kids all say at the same time. "Have you got your book bags and packed lunches?" I ask them and they all nod their heads. "Ok, let's go" We leave our home and head towards the car. I make sure all of the kids are safely strapped in before getting in myself, we then set off for their school as we sing along to the Christmas songs which were playing on the radio. Christmas has always been my favourite time of the year and it's also my kids favourite as well. This time of year is also always really bittersweet for me because Christmas with my family used to be amazing and we'd always have so much fun. It was the one time of the year when we'd all gather together and stay at my parent's mansion for the entire holiday and we'd celebrate it in style. I really wish I could go back to those times. There's nothing I'd love more than for my babies to have a REAL family Christmas with our family maybe even with their father and his family but I highly doubt this will happen anytime soon.
It's crazy how fast our lives can change within the blink of an eye and sometimes you don't even know it's happening until it's already happened. The past six years have been a crazy whirlwind and I've had to get used to a lot of changes in my life since I moved to London but now I'm happily settled and living my best life, well, I'm living as great of a life as I possibly can without my beloved family here with me. There was a time when my family and I were extremely close, we would always see and talk with each other every day and we always did anything and everything for one another but all of that changed and I saw a totally different side to my family after Dylan and Luca's betrayal. I always used to think I had the perfect family, the perfect parents, the perfect grandparents and the perfect older brothers and in a way, I still feel that way about them but I also can't forget the immediate change in them when I found out my older brother was screwing my fiance. The betrayal left me a heartbroken mess and it changed my entire life forever, it also changed all of the plans I had made for my future. Ever since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a school teacher, I wanted to teach the future generation and prepare them for the next stages of their lives. A few months before everything happened six years ago, I was offered a place at one of the best colleges in New York to get my teaching degree but then my relationship broke down and the perfect future I had planned with Dylan had gone up in flames along with everything else. I no longer had any desire to get my teaching degree but I needed to find a steady income so that I could provide for myself and the triplets because I knew my savings which was a very substantial amount of money wouldn't last me forever. I wasn't used to living like this because I was born a millionaire heiress, I had always lived a life of luxury and I never had to worry about anything, so to now live knowing money was running out was kind of scary, especially since I now had three extra mouths to feed and I didn't want my kids to grow up differently to how I did. Don't get me wrong I wasn't a spoiled little rich girl or anything like that but I lived a comfortable life with no worries and I wanted the same for my kids as well. I didn't want them to grow up worrying about things that they shouldn't have to which I know they would've done because they're really smart and they would've immediately sensed when something was wrong. Anyway, I knew I needed to make some decent money and fast but I didn't know how. That was until one day when I was watching some soppy rom-com movie which was based on some old book and it unlocked a brand new passion inside of me, a passion which I never knew existed if I'm being perfectly honest with you. I always loved to read and loved nothing more than to get lost in a good book but I never once saw myself as a writer because I didn't think I was creative enough to be one. All of that changed as soon as I put pen to paper or my fingers to my laptop I should say and that's when magic happened. Within two months, I had finished and completed my first book The Billionaire's Secret Baby which later turned into a five-part series when my fans demanded more from me. The series was a huge hit and before I knew it, I was a world-famous author, I was successful and I was rolling in the money, most of which I've either invested or I've put into different bank accounts for me and my kids for when they're older. The rest of the money I used to buy us our current home and everything we needed to furnish it and I also bought myself a decent car as well. I mean, I'm not at Donald Trump's level of rich but I've got enough money for me and the triplets to live happy and comfortable lives together. Right now I'm in my office working on a new book and a new series but for some strange reason, I can't seem to concentrate and for the first time in my writing career, I've got writer's block. I let out a sigh as I take off my glasses and rub the bridge of my nose. This is so frustrating and annoying. The worst thing for a writer to experience is knowing what you want to write and how you want to write it but being unable to articulate it in the right way and have it make sense. There have been many times in the past where I've written something and when I've read it back I was baffled. this makes absolutely no sense. I looked back at the screen and decided I needed to take a break, so I got up and went into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee and something to eat. I didn't really have much of an appetite but I knew if I didn't eat something now then I probably wouldn't have anything to eat until dinner later on which wouldn't do me any good. You need to be healthy in your mind, body and soul in order to do anything and I can't focus on writing a great story if I'm pushing myself without resting or eating. I was sitting on the couch and eating my food with the television on in the background which I wasn't watching, it was just on for background noise because I hate silence and that's all I ever seem to have in this house when the kids aren't here. Anyway, the T.V. quickly caught my attention when the annoying presenter with a high-pitched squeaky voice, who was wearing more make-up than a drag queen mentioned several familiar names which piqued my interest, one of which and the gossip about him almost had me choking on my coffee. "Hello everyone and welcome to the Hollywood Daily, it's been a busy week for many of the Hollywood elite, more specifically those within the affluent Carpenter and Black families" The presenter said with a huge grin on her face. The first piece of news she was gossiping about was my sister-in-law Sabrina launching two new clothing lines, one is a maternity line and one is for kids which will be released after Christmas. This will be her third and fourth lines that she's released, the first one being a bikini line and the second one was an undergarment line which she worked on with my mom. "Brace yourselves ladies and gentlemen because the latest announcement from the Carpenter family is one that is going to break all of our precious little hearts, Luca Carpenter the youngest son of James and Louise Carpenter has come out as gay" This is the news which had me almost choking on my coffee. What does she mean he's come out as gay?. Didn't he do that six years ago?. "According to a statement released earlier today, Luca said it's taken me a very long time to finally accept who and what I am and now I can proudly say that I'm a gay man" Holy cow. "But that's not the most shocking part of the statement, the part which has left many of the public including fans of the family baffled and scratching their heads in confusion is when Luca also confessed his undying love for his soulmate and the love of his life Dylan Tate...does that name ring a bell? well, it should do because Dylan is the eldest son and heir of Lachlan and Sandra Tate and he's the former fiance of Luca's younger sister Lacey Carpenter who has been M.I.A for the past six years, are Luca and Dylan the reason for her disappearance from the limelight? has this love story been going on for a lot longer than the Carpenters want us to believe? this is something we may never know unless Luca, Dylan or even Lacey herself comes out and explains it to us" I can't believe this. It's a good job I legally changed my name six years ago before I gave birth to my kids because if I didn't, then this could have caused a lot of trouble for me and my kiddies. It hurt my heart to hear about Logan settling down with someone else, especially with a snake like GiGi Addams. Deep down in my heart, I knew why it hurt me so much but I just didn't want to admit to it. I had always had a crush on Logan ever since I was a kid and I think somewhere over the years, that crush manifested into something more but I really didn't want to confess to those feelings because he's my older brother's best friend and also because of Dylan, not to mention Logan is everything I hate in a man. He's cocky and conceited and he thinks if the world doesn't revolve around him then it should or at least that's how he was six years ago, I don't know if he's changed at all since I left the States. I couldn't help but smile a sad and bittersweet smile as the presenter continued to talk about my family and those who used to be close to me and it really hurt my heart because I miss them so freaking much and I hate hearing about them and what's new in their lives through channels like this. Changes are a natural part of life but sometimes it's the ones you weren't expecting that cause you the most pain and sorrow but also the most happiness

This probably won’t go anywhere and I’m sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask this, but my grandpa, a Philly native, recently mentioned that he used to frequent Dewey’s Famous in his youth, a fast food chain that has since closed. He says he always went for the 25 cent Orange Drink, and that is was the best drink he’s ever had. Are there any other folks who have any nostalgia for this drink, and does anyone know if anyone has recreated the recipe for any reason or knows how to find the recipe?

I (17F) met my bf (18M) in 2021 on discord. We live 1,5 h apart so we saw each other for the first time after 8 months. I went to his city with my parents and our parents went to a cafe at the time of our date. Everything was amazing and me and my parents were driving home around 11pm.
3 weeks later it’s time for our second date. This time it’s him and his parents visiting us. However, at the time they were driving my bf texted me that his sister is going with them. I was aware of her existing but it was surprising. When we talked on dc i told him to let me talk with her, I was always friendly and wanted her to feel comfortable around me so i wasn’t mad that she’s going. I also thought she was like 6 or something but turned out she’s 5 yrs younger than my bf, so she was 11 at the time. They arrived, everything seems fine, we went to see a movie, then go grab something to eat. We meet with our parents and his sister. She was dissatisfied, because she wanted to go to the swimming pool. Reminder, we didn’t even had our swiming suits with us. The time goes by, we finished our meal, just chatting. I had a hormonal problem at that moment, so i had acne but it wasn’t that bad, but it still was one of my complexes. She looked at me and said “Ew u acne is so bad” and at this point i wanted to cry. My bf was comforting me, but then she goes again that “my arms are fat”. I didn’t even know what to say (i had ed at the time) so i was just staring at her in shock. My bf said something to her, I don’t exactly remember what it was. After the meeting i told my partners what happened and that i wasn’t comfortable around her, but they was defending her sayin “she’s just kid”.
As the 2 years goes by, i found out she’s one of the most spoiled brat i have ever seen.
except the rude comments from time to time, i learned SHE HAS NO RESPECT. As a child, I was brought up that when adults are talking and I want to say something, I have to wait until they finish. I don't interrupt anyone now. But when our parents talk, she can say EVERYTHING with no consequences. last week our parents meet for dinner and she came with them. While my bf parents were waiting for mine she screamed “MOVE YOUR ASSES” and i think the worst part is that her parents didn’t even told her anything.
It got to the point that we could not leave home without her or spend time alone. She just throw a tantrum because she wants to come with us.
She failed math at the 5th grade and she had ultimatum, but her parents didn’t stick to it. She never gets any consequences of anything. Don’t do any chores at home and if she’s asked to do some, she goes “is it that hard to take one of your sons and make him do that?”.
Also 2 week ago i went with my bf and his family to switzerland. His aunt, that we are very close with, invited us to a communion. I was helping to decorate the area and in a lot of things. The day of the communion came, we are waiting for diner. Everyone put on what they wanted and there was a crowed so i just grabbed a piece of meat and some fries. I didn’t eat for 17h because everyone was in the rush so i was so happy to eat that. After i finish i decided with my bf that he will go grab another fries and i’ll eat half, and gives him the second half. When my bf return he went to get something to drink and then his lovely sister said “are u seriously gonna eat all of that? i didn't expect this” I WAS STUNNED. ang again nothing. nothing from parents, her uncle, other brother, NOTHING. my bf came back and i told him what happend, HE WAS PISSED AT HER. But didn’t want to make a scene and i understood that. Then she return with her 3rd plate full of fries and my bf saw an opportunity to tell her something. He said “gosh u seriously gonna eat all of that?” she just ignored. Im not saying that what he said was good but it was nice having one person behind my back.
here’s comes the question, AITA cuz i don’t want to invite her? tbh i don’t care if i am but just wants to know others ppl opinion of this situation and what would you do. My dad says i need to invite her cuz my bf famili may talk behind my back later how rude am i.
And my family is kinda strict and i’m scared that she will say something to my grandpa or other ppl at my 18th bday. But tbh i won’t bother to tell her something the exact way she speaks to my parents. (my grandpa would be the first person to tell her off ngl) AND SO SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH 🙏
EDIT: sorry if i wasn’t clear, my bf totally understand that and he have enough of her actions. He’s the most lovely boy i could imagine 🫶🏻 I feel pressure mostly from my parents that i have to make good impression, and i know they in the wrong by that, but in my family children can’t do much, so i guess i’ll just suck it up hoping she won’t do anything in front of 30 strangers

As some of you may have noticed, the longer on this beautiful path, the more insight you get into yourself and the Universe. This often times feels like some kind of 'download' from the EtheHigher Self etc.
Most posts here are specifically focussed on one topic and then there's an OP that answers some questions about that certain topic.
This time i'd like to do something different. I'd like to share with you all the downloads i've so gratefully received from the Universe that seems to just keep giving if you only ask for it. And i want YOU to do the same!
Because we've all heard the famous quotes of the famous retainers, but there's so much insight out there we don't know!
I therefore thought it to be a good idea to share a lot of quotes / insights in the comments or maybe make your own #ColdShowerThoughts post. (not trying to start a trend although it feels like that haha).
Without further ado, here's what my brains synapses came up with:

• "Believing in your positive self is relieving you from your negative self"
  
• "Most people are in a very deep sleep. Very deep indeed. The moment you start retaining, you slowly but surely start to wake up. You realise you're coming out of a nightmare. Scary it was. Difficult. And unpredictable. But above all it was just a dream. Illusion. And now the day has just started. Now you rise."

I've learned that i have no idea what or who God is and creating an image of what He'd want and than getting mad at that same false image you created of Him in the first place doesn't help you. Or Him.
